Appearance: Although technically a part of the Metal Sonic series of badniks, this particular one has been designed to resemble the Guardian, Knuckles. The tips of the so called hair, the dreadlock look, are yellow. His eyes are black with a green ring in them. He has regular hands with the shovel spikes on the back of the hand that covers his whole hand. His muzzle is unpainted but polished and is a silvery white. The torso has that up slash like Knuckles has, except it is a silvery white like his mouth. His armor is heavier and can take more damage than his brother Metallix. His armor also has a higher percentage of Iridium normally used in the platinum it is made of making him more resistent to extreme temperatures. On his back there is a jet pack for transportation by the good Doctor himself.

Backround: Created for the purpose of destroying Metallix, as a backup plan for should Robotnik's most powerful badnik ever try to leave the Empire. It was created at the same time as Metallix, using the same technology.
Metal Sonic #BMS20001-2a was made out of platinum, using the last of Robotnik's supplies. To increase its resistance to heat, Robotnik added roughly 25% Iridium into the smelting pot. Knowing Metallix has lightning based attacks, he added an earthing device into the new robot's tail. He fed it information on Metallix's fighting skills, and armed it with missiles capable of breaking through Metallix's armor in one impact.
It was also fitted with the same optical equipment as Metallix, meaning it can use the same range of scanning tricks as the Metal Sonic. It was modelled on Knuckles to differenciate the two models.
But the Doctor only ever intended it to be activated in case Metallix, a robot he programmed with complete and utter free will, decided not to obey any further. So Robotnik decided to store it in a deep part of the island base and left it there in an isolated chamber, and there it remained for over five years.

After Robotnik recently returned to the Island base he tried to establish contact with Metallix for a progress report. He discovered the truth behind the original Metal Sonic's silence. Metallix had in fact defected and altered the ARK making it very difficult to use as a part of his grand plan, and removed the only internal parts that Robotnik could still manipulate. Feeling extremely angry about this turn of events, Robotnik activated his newest Metal Sonic, the one made to look like Knuckles. Because of the high Iridium content in its armor Robotnik assigned it the codename Irridrix, and gave it two tasks - if it saw anything of value on its travels it was to inform its master immediately. Its second task was the one with the highest priority - bring Metallix back to base for reprogramming, and if he still disobeyed then destroy the Metal Sonic.

Family: At the top of this so-called family tree you have Doctor Robotnik - his 'father', as it were, the one that created him .There are also countless hundreds of badniks that could also be considered family. Metallix is also his brother, and is a part of the vast and historic Metal Sonic series. Part of Irridrix's ancestry can also be traced to the E-series, through its AI program development.

Transport: He uses his jet pack to get to high places, but mostly he walks or runs. He can ride on the Empires fleet ships if he needs to be there.

Personality: Doctor Robotnik made sure there wasn't another Metallix incident with this particular robot.He follows all orders only having a free mind when needed to think of operations in battle. He is cold, ruthless and utterly calculating in attaining his ultimate goal of destroying Metallix. He also follows logic.

Skills:
Hand-to-Hand Master
Designed for fighting hand to hand just like Knuckles, and especially Metallix.
Dig
With the Shovel Spikes on his hands he can dig underground or break through rocks.

Weapons: He has Homing missles which pop out of a panel hidden in his shoulder, and fire upwards as the missiles are stored lengthways down his arm. He can carry a maximum of 4 at any one time - 2 in each shoulder and arm - and targets can only be indicated by Robotnik himself, needing direct authority from the good Doctor personally in order to fire. They are powerful enough to pierce Metallix's armor, and Robotnik will only grant him permission to fire them at the Metal Sonic. Only once it is destroyed will Robotnik assign other targets if any.

Equipment: 4 Pop-up search lights in his cerebral area. They are limited to one hour of use. There is also a wide range of optical filters, scopes and other viewing options for tracking vehicles or people.

Strengths: Infra-red vision along with zoom scope, night vision, and radar. High Speed detectors and rapid frame rates on all optical systems with the ability to freeze frame and commit to memory and send to Dr. Robotnik.
He is stronger than Knuckles.
Resistance to high temperatures because of his high percentage of Iridium in his platinum armor.
His tail is able to ground lightning attacks.
Has intimate knowledge of Metallix and his combat routines.

Weaknesses: Robotnik made sure this Badnik would not become another Metallix incident. So he added a remote shut down trigger in his body that if tried to be removed or disobeyed a direct order, it would cause him to become immobile and wipe his memory banks until retrieval.

He can only take so much damage to his armor. About 6 full on hits from a strong individual, or weapon, will cause it to break and expose the severely fragile inner components.
Irridrix has high energy consumption issues, and owing to the large amount of components within his exoskeleton chassis, the fuel cell is smaller than would be liked. Irridrix has to return to base every 50 posts to recharge, from charge to charge.

For his tail to ground lightning attacks he has to be on the ground. He is slower than Metallix
Because he has been in storage for some time he is not up to a top specification, so is not able to be flexible enough to round up other rogue robots unless severely updated and outfitted. In other words this is a Metallix killer but is not very effective against much else.
