Captain Olive
There we go... I wonder what was preventing me from posting here before?
Name: Olivia Grenadine (alias "Captain Olive") Age: Early 20's Gender: Female Species: Parrot (exact breed unconfirmed) Affiliation: None with any current factions Alignment: Villain Occupation: Pirate captain Appearance: Olive's primary body color is a bright yellowish-green, around 66ff00 in standard hex notation, but getting near the edges of her wings, her "hair," and the tip of her tail, it goes to blue, then red, then yellow, and ends in purple. Her wings hang down from her arms and hands like a cape. Her "hair" is a bit messy, and hangs down on both sides (she never wears a hat). Her tail points downwards and ends in a slightly spiky tip. She's tall and athletic, and her beak is black and slightly hook-shaped. Olive always wears a solid black, sleeveless gown with gold trim. Her right eye is covered with a black eyepatch (the eye is perfectly fine; she only wears the patch for looks, and she'll even flip it up if she needs the depth perception). Clipped to her left hip is her sword-sheath, two semaphore flags, and a handy beltpouch containing other odds and ends. Personality: Olive is firmly into her pirate-captain persona. She likes to talk like a pirate whenever she can, though sometimes she's been caught speaking normal English. She's often rude to her crew, especially when she's in a bad mood, but for some reason they don't seem to mind. Olive is very possessive about her treasure, and someone tries to take even one piece of gold from her supply, she'll take it as an invitation to chop the thief's hands off. On the other hand, she cares about her crew, and always makes sure to share at least a fraction of the spoils with them after every plunder. Her hobbies include watching scenery, cleaning her property, and thievery. Family: Status of parents unknown. No other known living relatives. Transport: Olive's primary method of transport is her treasured pirate ship, the Swimming Devil. Despite being made of wood, it possesses amazing endurance and has never been sunk despite all the naval battles it has been in. It has a crew of about thirty-five, and she's always looking for new recruits. It bears a total of twenty-four cannons (fourteen on the deck, ten down below) that are always equipped for battle. It's also equipped with a few pieces of modern equipment, like a radio and a GPS navigation system, but since Olive is anything but tech-savvy she lets her crew take care of those. Weapons: Olive's weapon of choice is her stainless-steel cutlass which she keeps in its sheath by her hip. She always keeps it sharp and ready for battle. Biography: Olive was born and grew up on South Island, and from the start she had an interest in pirates. She studied books about them endlessly whenever she could, and because her father specialized in building ships she learned about the ins and outs of such vessels at an early age. It didn't take long for her to gather a "crew" out of about eight or ten friends from school. The big day happened when Olive was fifteen, and she and her crew had gathered quite the collection of pirate memorabilia. Her father had just completed the "Swimming Angel," a massive wooden ship designed for both battle and cargo transportation. He had not designed it for a customer; it was a personal project. Probably a good thing, too, because that night, Olive and her crew stole it and fled to the open sea. She later rechristened the ship the "Swimming Devil" because she thought the original name sounded sissyish. That was the last time Olive saw her hometown. Initially the Swimming Devil didn't have much of a crew and wasn't well stocked, but after attacking a few weakly defended ships and robbing them of their cargo, their assets began to grow. Olive used the money they stole to buy upgrades for her ship and crew, such as cannons and better weaponry, which in turn allowed them to pillage more ships more effectively to gain even more assets, and so on and so forth. When her face became too well known for her to risk going into town to shop, she sent a representative. Every now and then some sailor would surrender and join the Devil's crew out of fear of getting mutilated, and later either warm up to them or get thrown to the sharks for betraying them, or some scoundrel would willingly join for one reason or another; in that way, her crew slowly increased in number. To date, Olive has made many successful attacks and pillages, and her and her crew's reputation is quite noteworthy. She's just about perfected her ship and recruited quite a crew, but a pirate can never have too much. Combat style: In hand-to-hand combat, Olive prefers to fight in close quarters, as the shortness of her weapon would give her a disadvantage at long range, and she's not good with guns. Her fighting style is fast and furious; she's very agile, almost ninjaish*, and will usually try to disarm her opponent before he has a chance to attack. Naval combat is a bit different; Olive is a very sharp strategist in that area. She'll always study her enemy from afar and then decide on a strategy before entering combat. Sometimes she'll fire her cannons and demolish the vessel from afar; other times, she'll pull up close and call a raid. Skills: Wings - Olive sports an impressive pair of wings; her full wingspan is slightly greater than her height. She can stay airborne for a few minutes at a time, very handy for making fast getaways. The reason she doesn't fly very often, and she wouldn't dare admit this to anyone or it'd ruin her image, is because she's somewhat afraid of heights. Voice - As a slight tangent of a common trait of her species, Olive is an ace at imitating any voice she hears, low or high, sharp or smooth. She can perform a practically flawless auditory impersonation of someone whose voice she's heard in the past fifteen minutes, but from there the quality deteriorates as the memory grows fainter. She can even forge a voice from scratch to match a certain stereotype, like a punk rapper or a ditzy teenage girl. This ability is more useful for a pirate than you'd think: "This is the President. The ship approaching does not mean any harm. Please call off the defense force." Sea legs - Olive knows practically everything about sailing the high seas. She also knows both Morse code and semaphore by heart. On top of that, she's practically immune to seasickness. Unfortunately her knowledge is a bit old-fashioned, and she knows practically nothing about handling more modern equipment. Strengths and weaknesses: +Commands a formidable force +Very agile +Fairly gifted in the strategy department -Far from tech-savvy -Somewhat weak in individual combat -Piloting a large, formidable ship tends to be a disadvantage during stealth missions Yes, I'm fully aware that I'm already at my four-character limit. If this profile is approved (but not until then!), I will drop Burner. -SonicLover *I'm gonna be burned at the stake for comparing a pirate to a ninja. Kitty O'Brien of KBS News. HQ in Station Square, but she appears on every television in the country. Other characters: Jijeka-Te |
