Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood

RE: Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
I think Sonic '06 has shades of a good game hiding in its cracks. They just never got to finish making it.

I've been avoiding playing it again. For one I don't want it to get too old too fast. For another I just bought a Wii and got some new DVDs. For yet another I still can't decide if I wanna play with my previous end-game levels from the start or go from 1 again. Haha.

It still bothers me whenever I hear people complain about child-like stories in Sonic games... Mario never has to put up with flak like that and he certainly deserves it just as much or more. Heh. Bioware or not I didn't go in expecting much more than what I've seen of Sonic so far. My only disappointment came out of them not living up to one of their own promises.

Big the Cat does nothing. So much for making us care about him. I wonder when that got thrown out the window?

RE: Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
Child-like? If anything, they're trying too hard to be dark and brooding. The way I see it the big difference between Mario and Sonic games is that the Mario franchise knows it can't be super serious. If it tried, it would fail. So, it doesn't. Sonic Team, on the other hand, can't seem to get it wrapped around their heads that it's hard to take a bipedal blue hedgehog to as serious of a level as they're pushing for. Yes, I think they succeeded back during the Adventure series, but ever since then, especially with games like Shadow the Hedgehog, uh, yeah. 'Nuff said.

There are portions of the new games that you can appreciate. They just often times get buried by all the bad rap, and, well, downright silly things that are in the games themselves. Bad lines in particular. @@;

Well, let's look at it from the other end. What do you think is the best direction in which the Sonic series has ever gone?

Kitty O'Brien of KBS News. HQ in Station Square, but she appears on every television in the country.

Other characters:

RE: Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
I actually preferred the 2-D sonic advance series. Sonic Advance 3 to me, is my favorite one of all time. 5 playable characters, numerous team ups, simple and fun, with creative bosses. Most bosses were unkillable in that game by normal means, and you had to figure out the means to kill them (ex. forceing them off the stage, dropping the stage on them, turning their attacks back at them). To me, it was a masterpiece. Hm...now I wanna rp as emerl/gemerl....

RE: Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
Okay.... Now I'm just scared.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a skeptic. But I've been looking forward to this at the same time, after all, it's Sonic and an RPG. (Please note that I'm the guy who's personal goal consists of playing through and beating all Final Fantasy's.)

But even I can see where the exaggeration is derived from, and how it's done in a way that I think is a close resemblance.

And it scares me. Big time.

...I think I'll still give it a shot, though!

RE: Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
I don't regret getting the game at all. I just know it could have been better, as can be said of many games. A few story inconsistencies stick out in my mind as a Sonic fan, I must admit, that many others probably wouldn't notice anyway.

I think what I'm most annoyed at is level 20. Why level 20? because if you get higher than level 20 you realize quite promptly that the developers never intended for you to ever get higher than level 20. It might have worked for Mario, but at least in his game it wasn't so blatant. I'm making it sound worse than it really is if I'm honest, I was just annoyed at the time and emotional responses to something tend to have more effect on a person than intellectual ones. Haha.

Since they sold me half a game and expect me to pay full price for the second half as well they darn sure better listen to all of the big and small criticisms alike and make SC2 a brilliant gem. Maybe if the real Bioware team wasn't too busy making a Star Wars MMO they could have actually worked on SEGA's little project for them. XD

I wonder if the chaotix are playable in 2...as well as silver and blaze. Bring back the smart fire kitty of doom!

RE: Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
I can say i am not really enjoying this game.

As having played EBA the way the POW moves work (so entirely different than that of EBAs) is always pulling me off.

Maybe its me but im having difficulty getting into it.
