RE: The Mother of All Escapes
"ya know Jodster, Im not sure..I need to check out her systems out real quick before we hit the road. Her hardware looks alright though." he responded to Jodie as he stood up from checking the front suspension. He walked around to the rear of the car and opened the trunk with his key revealing his AR-15 and it's ammunition along with various other curiosities he'd collected over the years. From his trunk he pulled out a small plastic black box with a handle on it so it could be carried like a suitcase.

"Im a little dizzy and light headed from that blow to the head but I'm good to drive if the Jav's good to drive as long as we take it slow. Although I think our definitions of slow might be vastly different. Plus I doubt that fuel waisting 8 cylinder 4x4 jeep can even come close to the Jav's cruising speed." he responded to Laurelle's question with a cocky smile indicating that he was most indeed fine.

Jav popped the hood to reveal a set of turbines which had warning labels stamped all over them such as "caution explosive hazard, refriderated liquid hydrogen or premium gasoline only, blades spin in excess of 80,000rpm use caution." He opened the small box to reveal a small ruggadized laptop was inside with various cables attached to it which he quickly began plugging in to various parts of the engine. After setting everything up he walked back to the driverseat and cranked the engine which responded with a healthy roar that gave the impression that it was ready to roll.

He quickly went over the computer specs checking for any abnormalities about the vehicle. "Other than worn tread from my inspection the Jav is fine...surprisingly....I guess I built her even tougher than I thought I did....of course it may be jsut sheer luck but I like the sound of that first one better so we'll go with that one hehehe" He laughed while unplugging the computer and putting it back in the trunk.

"Well, although I dont see those baddies comin back anytime soon except maybe on Fox tv while their on trial for crimes against all Terran-kind I agree with, umm I'm sorry I dont think I got your name miss I'm James by the way nice to meet you. But yea I agree it's best to split while the splittin's good before the police or the military show up and decide to play an unpleasant round of 20 questions with us." he said while closing the hood of the still running Javelin. "so..where we goin?" he asked with a smile.

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
Canma involuntarily shivered a bit when she heard Jav say the words "military" and "police". A second later she realized the others might think this looked a little odd, so she stared at the city and pretended she was shivering because of the destruction.

Nail looked at the others, and immediately said, "We're going back to Station Square in the jeep, if you want to ride with us. Ayecaye...I need to get you back to Dad."

Ayecaye turned to Nail, tears still welling in her eyes. "Dad's there? What about Carrie?"

Nail smiled. "Hey, don't worry. They're okay. They were out of town when the disaster started."

She nodded. "At least...that's good to know."

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
I nodded at Jav, giving The Jav one last look over before my attention turned to the others. It looked like we were heading out soon. Not like I wanted to be there anymore than the others. There was nothing left to go back to. My gaze returned to the remnants of home to reconfirm it though. It was hard. Okay, that must'a been the understatement of the year. My mind felt fuzzy and distant, as if I was far away from the others, even as I stood right near them. Below, my stomach was doing back flips. Slowly shaking my head, I turned back.

"Yeah..." I looked briefly over my shoulder. "I'm ready to go. Jav, if you're going to Station Square, would you mind if I hitched a ride with you?"

Okay, so his driving was crazy to most people, but I needed a distraction. Yet, all the same, I just didn't want to deal with a lot of people right then.

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
Dan has only been partially paying attention to the conversation, but, realizing that they seem to be talking about leaving, he finally gets up from the grass and makes his way over to them, hands tucked into the pockets of his jacket.

"Eh.. mind if I tag along?" The question seems slightly directed towards Jodie and Jav, but he looks about slightly to include the others as well; it's mainly just an open question to.. whoever. Because, he needs a ride, after all, but.. the destination isn't even all that important, since he'd mainly just been traveling for the sake of it before and he didn't have anywhere in particular to go. Granted, he had come to Capitol City in the first place because he was looking for work as a photographer, with the news, but now... well... So what if what happened here would surely be the story of the year, if not the decade.. For now, he just wants to get away from this place.

"Well, none of us have any other way to get anywhere. I guess that means we have to stick together right? And that means, we totally owe James one! Or maybe, more than one now, if it'd just been me, I'd be dead by now." Laurelle smiles brightly, but towards the end of her sentance she quietens, realising what she's said, what has happened, and what will never be the same again. Shuddering slightly again she stops talking, trying again to banish tears and pain.

"I'm ready to go. Jav, if you're going to Station Square, would you mind if I hitched a ride with you?"

"Eh.. mind if I tag along?"

James looked down at Jodie and Dan and smiled "yea, sure." he replied "anybody who wants to roll with me is free to do so...but I'm gonna warn ya, I'm going to station square and I'm doin' it fast like you feel me?"

"Well, none of us have any other way to get anywhere. I guess that means we have to stick together right? And that means, we totally owe James one! Or maybe, more than one now, if it'd just been me, I'd be dead by now."

"Dude man, you guys dont dont owe me anything dont even worry about it. If anybody in this world owes me anything it's Rick...man im for real that dude practically owes me his soul as many times as I've saved his sorry tail hahaha" James laughed.

James stretched his body letting loose a string of popping and cracking sounds "makes me wonder what he's doin these days..."he added with a strained voice mid-stretch.

"so...anyways, I guess lets boogy" James said walking around the car and sat in the driver seat waiting for everyone to decide who they're riding with.

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
"I guess they're all going with...that guy." Canma nearly said 'filthy human' there. She'd said it so often it had almost become a reflex.

"Well...that suits me," Nail whispered. "I think you better drive. I think Ayecaye's going to need someone to talk to about all this..." He looked at his sister, standing off to the side and looking away from everybody. Ayecaye liked to act tough sometimes, and apparently she didn't want the others seeing too much of her like this. "Anyway, let's go." He returned to his normal tone of voice. "Ayecaye, get in the back. You can stretch out and rest there, if you want."

Ayecaye hesitantly nodded...not really looking at anybody. She walked over to the GUN jeep and climbed back inside. Meanwhile, Nail and Canma got in the front, and before long they were under way.

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
Giving the city one last look, my attention turned to Nail, Cammy, and Ayecaye. I hadn't really noticed what bad shape 'Caye had been in up until that point. I was too sucked into my own disdain. As they piled into the jeep, I waved weakly to her and forced a smile. Though I wasn't really sure if she caught it, it was better than nothing. Maybe I'd call her later to see how she was doing. Right now, I was wondering about how Rios and Dromar were fairing.

I nodded back at Jav; slid into one of the backseats of his car and cradled my head. Anxiety seemed like it was falling heavier on me than I'd anticipated. The nerves inside my body were feeling almost like they were rhythmically twisting from my neck down to my abdomen. I wriggled my toes to distract myself from it and tried to focus my thoughts on better times, days spent well with my brother and my parents.

I didn't really take notice of the others as they climbed in, too. Just focused on feeling better.

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
"Alright then. Thanks.." The blue fox trails off slightly as he turns to again look towards where the city had once been. It still seems so surreal... At the sound of an engine starting, though, he looks back, to see Nail, Canma and Ayecaye getting ready to leave on their own. He hadn't really gotten to know them particularly well, and has never been the best with words, which certainly isn't helped any by the current situation. That said, he simply offers a nod and a weak though friendly smile as they depart.

He turns to take one more long look towards the city, then faces the Jav again, hesitates a moment, and looks to Laurelle. "Hey.. uh.. Do you want the front this time, or..?" He'll leave the choice up to her; the back might be a bit more cramped, but he'd been in the front before, so.. he doesn't really have a preference. Either way, once in the car, he'll probably try to get comfortable, his jacket pulled a bit tighter about him than usual, and stare out the window as the world passes them by, trying to just relax a little, not really focusing on anything.
