RE: The Mother of All Escapes
"Sweet sonuva!"

Out of the frying pan into the fire. What luck! Or lack thereof. Jodie held fast. She had a good feeling that Jav would be playing up another stunt and the last thing she wanted was to be unprepared again. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched the others, her hands continuing to tighten and loosen her hold on Dan's headrest.

Dan watches, wide-eyed, as the explosion seems to just suddenly.. stop, behind them. He certainly wasn't any sort of expert on explosions, of course, but even so, it's strange, and he can't help but find himself slightly curious as to just what happened, or why. His curiosity is short-lived, though, as the road ahead of them vaporizes.

"Holy...!"

The fox panickedly checks his seatbelt, and tries to brace himself in preparation for whatever Jav might do.

Hearing half-exclamations and stifled gasps, Laurelle breathes deeper, and wraps her tail more securely around her. Whatever's happening, it is really not going to be good.

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
James stomped on his brakes as hard as he could without locking the wheels up. James was thrown forward with such force in his seatbelt that he could feel the blood run into his face and eyes. That would definately leave bruises and cuts on his torso from the seltbelt.

"ARRRGGGG"

Just before they crossed the line of no return James jerked the Jav, now in the 70's, off the road and into the grass median. His inertia slamming his already injured head into the driver side window leaving spider web cracks and blood where he had impacted it.

James brought the car back on to the highway and, with a short squeal of the tires, brought it to a complete stop. In a daze he quickly threw off his seat belt and exited the car holding his head which was bleeding through his fingers and onto the ground. He fell to his knees and began slowly regaining his senses.

"yowsa...man that hurt like I dont know what"

He waited a few moments until the world finished twirling before sitting indian style and looking back at the destruction behind them.

"whoa" he said in awe.

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
Nail winced as he clutched to Jav's seat, holding on for dear life. He dared not look at anything, and just kept his eyes shut tight. The sudden swerve onto the grassy median took him by surprise, which easily broke his grip and caused his head to bounce off the C-pillar, rather hard. It wasn't a pleasant experience for Ayecaye either, who got crushed a bit underneath her brother's weight.

After the car stopped, neither of them did anything. Nail just returned his grip to Jav's headrest...still too terrified to move. He had too many awful images in his mind of what could have happened if they'd fallen into that new crater.

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
Jodie's head smacked off Dan's seat as they shot off road before she was thrown against Nail. Her head was ringing, but fortunately for her although perhaps not Nail, she had been cushioned by the older fox. As they came to a stop, she paused a moment to try and rid of the headache that was now starting to develop. She looked to the others, seeing if everyone was okay and noticed Jav quickly exiting the vehicle, blood smeared against his shattered window.

Unstrapping herself, Jodie poked her head around Dan's seat. She couldn't get out until he moved.

"'ey, you okay?"

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
The blue fox groans for a moment before responding to Jodie's question. "Ugh.. yeah.... I'm okay.. enough.. I think." He'd be slightly more fortunate than Jav, being on the passenger side of the car, and hadn't had his head slam into anything, but he'd still been throw about rather rough. He's breathing roughly, having had the wind knocked from being thrown against the seatbelts, and he rubs gingerly at his neck; he might be lucky that he didn't break it, but it still hurts something terrible.

Dan takes a couple moments longer sitting there, waiting for the world to stop spinning. Or at least slow down a bit. A moment longer still, and he grabs for and fumbles with the seatbelt latch, taking a couple seconds longer to release it than someone would under normal circumstances, before then popping the door open and climbing out, pausing to turn around and slide the seat forward so Jodie could get out with a slight nod towards her, then wanders a couple feet away from the car and flops down in the grass on his back. After a bit, he sits up and joins Jav in staring back at the city. Or, rather.. the space where the city had been.

RE: The Mother of All Escapes
Feeling the car stop moving, Laurelle keeps her head and tail cushioning herself until she feels secure that nothing else bad is going to happen. Then, when she's controlled her racing heart, breathing and mind, she gingerly begins to uncurl herself, terrified for what she might see.

The reality is almost worse than she's thinking. Her friends are all safe, for which she thanks the powers of nature, but the city, the road, the car, the sky... It's like some terrible, terrible movie.

Seeing everyone moving, talking, trying to come to terms with the shock, she begins to pull herself together.

"Guys, sit down, heads down, deep breaths. I'm sure you're all in shock right now, so focus on breathing calmly, make sure you're as warm as you can be. Help each other..." She heads over to Jav, flipping open her bag on to ground next to him. "Ok, deep breaths, I'm not going to lie, this is going to hurt you a little, but once it's done then I'll give you something for the pain and it'll heal up just fine." She starts to clean the head wound with steady, practiced hands, and then begins to bandage it up after checking for embedded glass. "Nothing serious, you'll be glad to know."

She's devoutly hoping that her calm and capable manner is helping the others to recover from their ordeal, even though it's mostly just going through the motions of duty. Her head is still reeling, but she forces it all from her mind to begin the restorative trance. Touching Jav's shoulders gently, she begins to focus her healing energies on him, to numb his pain and to start the wound off healing.
