"My Lord, we have something on long range scanners!"

Sarath had been relaxing following various activities when the shout went up. Turning his head slowly towards the relevant station, a questionable look crossed his face. "Care to be more specific?"

"My Lord, we have a small but extremely fast object approaching along the coastline. From the sensor blips we can determine that its moving at a varying speed between mach 1 and 2."

"Most likely another futile attempt by their military to surprise us. Inform all ships to..."

"My Lord, it isn't airborne, the target is ground bound."

Sarath didn't usually appreciate being interrupted in mid sentence but this time he didn't seem to mind as much, although he still glared at the officer in question causing him to recoil slightly.

"Ground bound? Do you care to explain how such an object can move that quickly across such uneven terrain? Hmm..." Sarath smiled slightly and twisted a finger round a couple of cords that adorned his sword scabbard. "Bring up file three of the data download, search information for the word 'Sonic'."

The search took but a second, the information Sarath requested being transferred to the small display screen on his chair. He chuckled lightly as he read the information. "It would seem this planet's so called 'heroes' have come to save the day. Intensify all scanner sweeps. I very much doubt it that his friends have decided to cower away in this situation. They will most likely be coming by air. The Monoceros will stand by at this location for further orders. Now, lower the transport ramp and inform General Saria that I will be going to greet our newly arrived 'guest'."

The bridge was a hive of activity, orders and communications firing off everywhere as Sarath turned and left the bridge. Judging by this hedgehog's information he tended to smash straight through things and get to the heart of the matter as quickly as possible. Sarath didn't want to disappoint him.

His jacket gave a shimmer, various armour plates appearing across his hips, shoulders and forearms as he adjusted the hanging of his sword. If a fight was to be called for he would take centre stage, one could not be a leader without proving you were capable enough.

Saria was only a hallway away when Sarath came walking the way she had came. She stopped and gave a small bow before taking a position behind Sarath, heading back the way she came. She noticed by his gear he was ready to enter a fight.

"My Lord, planning to make an example of this world's 'hero'?"

She had heard some of the reports but not all the details as of yet. Saria was very pointed with the word 'hero', more mocking the term in itself then the person. She had plenty of things to discuss but Sarath had that pleased look on his face, that same happily twisted smile from long ago, before he took the throne. She gave a small smile, that which many don’t see. Sarath’s enthusiasm was spreading even without even being spoken.

No need to ruin a good mood.

She would have plenty of time later to tell boring details of the conquest and the troops.

As miles disappeared in the flow of seconds Sonic the Hedgehog soon caught site of the outer limits of Capitol City, lying there at the edge of the water. As he moved faster than a creature is actually capable of handling the sensory input of Sonic viewed the world ahead of him through a stretched viewpoint. Light raced to stay ahead of him causing a refraction that let the supersonic furry see things coming towards his body sooner than he could have otherwise between the two complete blurs of scenery that were at either side of him. That was, after all, the secret to seeing where you were going while moving at the speed of sound(And, like right at that moment, beyond it). Within this refracted view Sonic had his second sight of the alien ships, much like the one that had started blasting the jungle not so long ago. Sonic remembered those weapons well and the need to stay ready for them. Luckily their biggest shot seemed to provide plenty of time for a guy like him to make haste out of it's way, but the reckless speedster wasn't actually too aware of that anyway.

"Oh yeah!" the blue blur declared enthusiastically as he was suddenly flying through the air off the ledge of a risen piece of land, sending him shooting like a bullet inside the limits of the captured city. He hit the ground running, but no longer at top speed like he had approached with. On these streets Sonic would be more careful about where to pour on the real speed, but he was still moving fast enough with his feet to outrun a car even while holding back. "Time to crash this party!"

Just like old times Sonic the Hedgehog was on his way through the war zone, keeping his green eyes open for anyone who needed help and anyone who needed their lights knocked out. If history rang true the big boss would be waiting for him after a few armies' worth of grunts and weaponry. That always made things more fun anyways.

"My Lord, we have confirmation, a blue hedgehog has been spotted within the city limits heading in this direction at considerable speed." Sarath looked round as the video screen appeared in mid air beside him.

"So I was right, very well. Inform all ground forces to fall back from his projected path, make sure he has a clear path all the way too us. Oh and be sure to plug the gap behind him. If this little hero is as skilled as the information we've seen then I doubt they would stand much chance of stopping him anyway. Let him through."

The screen vanished into thin air after a confirmation from the messenger and Sarath slowly turned to Saria. He was smiling slightly, one that she knew all too well. "This is what makes my position enjoyable," he said, his hand flexing around the grip of his sword, "And yes, I plan to make an example of him, what could be more fun than crushing this planets hopes before they have even begun to develop?"

He looked back down the ramp of the ship into the city park, soon.

For Sonic he would find his path forwards clear of any resistance, nothing was stopping him. In the shadows to either side though there was an occasional bit of movement, somebody was obviously there, choosing not to stop him but preventing him from going in a different direction. It seemed he was being herded towards the main city park.

"Of course. I'll be ensuring no interferences take place, both internal and external."

If Sarath looked at Saria, he could see the faint glow of a optical screen on her right eye. She was still reading some of the data from the system about Sonic and his friends. It was a type of screen that displays directly into ones eye. She walked beside him as she gave a few orders over the communication, especially to the sensor crew and the hanger.

"Keep your attention on the sensor grid. Hanger, you are to keep two interceptor class fighters and their pilot's on standby, keep a third interceptor warmed and ready for myself. I am to be informed the second any aerial targets are in bound. I will personally intercept them."

"Order Received."

She read a bit about Sonic's other friend's and since they didn't have the speed like Sonic did, the only way to come in fast was by air. She could easily intercept them before they got within the city limits, thanks to the range of the ship sensors. She was going to make personally sure that no one would interfere in Sarath's fight.

'Gee, you'd think a city being overrun by alien invaders would be a bit more lively.'

Having slowed his pace even more once the fact that nobody, friend or foe, was anywhere in sight or earshot Sonic had started to grumble. He could guess that either he had come in at a bad side of town or he had been detected on his way(Alien tech could have all kinds of possibilities and Sonic certainly had experience with advanced tech) and they were purposely giving him nothing to do.

Which would be pretty lame of them.

"This game of hide-and-seek is boring! I prefer king of the hill!"

The hedgehog's body leaned to his left as he turned the same way in the middle of a street, his pace picking back up again. The blue one ran straight towards the wall of a tall building and then rocketed upwards in a burst of speed straight up the vertical surface. At the top Sonic skillfully cut his pace enough to just barely arc over the limit of the roof instead of shooting up high into the air and back-flipped so his feet came down right on the edge. Have turned slightly to his right as he neared the top Sonic was now grinding along the edge of the building as he hopped to face the street-side and let his speed increase. The hedgehog continued in this way, jumping the gap between rooftops with needlessly showy tricks as he went, in order to gain a birds-eye 360 degree view and see what was really going on around here.

'All that's missing is the red carpet,' the sarcastic speedster commented in his mind as his expression hardened. A huge alien ship was clearly "docked" in the middle of a large park a fair distance away. It just sat there as if daring anyone to approach it. 'With a ship set down like that there's no way they don't have eyes watching me move from just this far away.'

Deciding that the obvious trap was just too obvious to turn down Sonic continued over the rooftops, interchanging between running over or alongside buildings, grinding across them, or just triangle jumping between them at several stories across the length of a city street. Eventually a tiny figure painting a trail of blue air around and behind him fell down into the limits of the city park, bouncing off the tops of a few trees before landing on the grass still a fair distance from the alien ship and cutting all his speed down to a slow, relaxed walk down a normal park pathway. As he waited for any manner of instant death to try and wipe him out of existence through the element of surprise, Eggman's capsule back on the ARK came to mind, Sonic couldn't help but smirk in spite of himself. Did the aliens think he was just some crazy hero wannabe showing up to seek thrills, or did they already know who he was?(That is, a crazy hero showing up to seek thrills and save lives)

"My Lord, the target has..."

"I can rightly see for myself, keep all forces on standby and maintain a full grid sensor sweep. I do not wish to get any uninvited guests while I entertain our new toy."

Sarath cut the comm screen by flicking his hand to the side. He didn't have to issue orders to Saria, she had been by his side long enough to know what he thought in most situations and he trusted her enough to allow her to act as she felt was right.

Stepping down the ramp of the ship, Sarath wandered into the city park, stopping and waiting for Sonic to show in the middle of a small open area surrounded by a few trees and shrubs. He flexed his left hand, slowly drawing his sword and flexing his hand round the grip. He then flexed his right, a faint crackle of energy running over his fingers.

He smiled, he had not yet found a world where magic was as common as his own world. Whether this world was the same of not he didn't know but he always enjoyed giving his opponents a surprise.

Saria stayed beside him till they came down the ramp of the ship and into the park. She however stopped at the edge of the park, as if an invisible line was drawn at the very edge of the park. The skyscrapers also had very soldiers in them watching below as if everyone was really interested in what was coming next. A few had video recording devices as if this was going to be the best moment of the entire invasion. Saria had a front row seat at the inner edge of the park. She had no intention of helping Sarath, for that would be unthinkable.

She would watch Sarath defeat him or be defeated. It mattered not for both were something Saria would love and hate to see at the same time. She would serve him, not because he was their Lord, but because he was her savior and her damnation. The wind caught up for a moment pull her hair back and spreading it out for once, normally she would prevent that from happening as it got in the way but she didn't care about that... she wanted to watch.

Sonic had shifted gears into a jog as it seemed no surprises were in store for him yet as he crossed through the park towards the alien ship. Honestly, it was like just walking into one of Eggman's bases while you knew every single robot was staring at you yet not a one was doing anything or daring to show themselves. Sort of creepy.... and really boring. Suspense only lasting on the hedgehog for so long before he wanted to just hurry up and cut to the chase.

Green eyes spotted a figure in the distance, very close to the interstellar craft which was farther back still. Red sneakers made their way closer until Sonic was close enough to have a clear view of the stranger and was also within earshot, though not too close for comfort. With a yellow buckle turning forward Sonic let his left side turn ahead and slid to a halt on the grassy earth, sizing up the extraterrestrial with a curious look. No creepy alien life-form here... just a familiar furry shape in a basically "normal" outfit.

"I can't say I was expecting little green men, but a fox?" the blue furry suddenly asked loud enough for Sarath to hear, raising up both arms in a showy shrug before shaking his head. "There goes the fun of seeing what life looks like on other planets."

"Little green men? inquired Sarath as he turned toward the sound of the voice. He smiled slightly, giving a small chuckle and shaking his head. He studied Sonic for a moment, his information appearing to be right, "What a quaint little notion. I apologize that I don't meet with your expectations...Sonic Hedgehog."

Sarath paused for a moment, most likely to give some sort of dramatic impression if indeed Sonic could be put off so easily. "Surprised I know your name? My intelligent services are quite efficient you see. I was expecting someone with your reputation to be slightly taller. Well, nothing can be perfect can it? Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Lord Sarath Crescent of the Crescent Imperium...although you can refer to me as Lord."

"I have been studying your history. It seems you like to play the big hero, getting right to the heart of the matter? Well I decided to entertain you, if you think you can stop me then you're welcome to try."

Sarath smiled slightly, it wasn't a smirk but it was certainly a change of expression. He twisted his sword in his left hand, the tip digging a very small hole in the ground.

Saria remained silent as if she was just a ghost. She didn't say anything even know Sonic was being rude somewhat. She took her hand up and brushed some of her hair behind her so that it wouldn't block her vision. She wasn't sure how long she would be able to watch, as they were expecting his 'friends' and when they entered sensor range, she would have to take care of it.

Although there be carnage and darkness over Capitol, the grassy outskirts remained sarene and beautiful. The only noise caused was the wind blowing through the leaves of a single tree.

This almost perfect silence was interrupted by the crackling of random lightning. It seemed to be coming out of nowhere. Suddenly, the air began to warp, transforming into what appeared to be a portal. Out fell a sterling, silver hedgehog.

Silver's landing wasn't soft, but at least it wasn't rough. He stood up, dusted himself off and scanned the surrounding area. He knew he was close to Capitol City, but the outskirts looked nothing like this in the future. A problem that humans called "Global Warming" had turned the grassy fields into a watery gulf.

"Now to find the demon fox," he told himself, "I find the blue hedgehog, I find him!"

A cyan aura surrounded his body. Fists clenched, he levitated himself in the air. With a deep breath, he motioned forward, blasting himself towards the warzone.

Sonic wasn't too taken aback by the use of his name.... but to find out that his guy was the leader of the entire invasion? Now that warranted a raised eyebrow of impression. How often do you get to fight the last boss before tearing up their entire army first? Not often for him at least. Talk about a change of pace.

"Pretty confident guy aren't you?" Sonic asked before chuckling and then striking a more combat-oriented pose with his feet planted wide and his arms lifted at the ready on either side of him. "Not exactly what I came for, but how can I say no? You're on!"

Without another word Sonic's acclaimed acceptance sealed the deal before he entered his trademark Spindash. Less than one second later a Super Sonic Spin was rolling across the ground at tremendous speed towards the would-be future Lord of Earth leaving a blue streak in it's wake.

Sarath smiled at Sonic's reply, his approach never failed to get the same result. Offer the biggest prize and watch as they jump for it. Unfortunately for Sonic, Sarath was well versed in this particular strategy, he had used it many times against many different targets.

Sarath was well informed, having viewed as much data about Sonic as he could. The spin dash was not a surprise to him, on the contrary, it simply reinforced his confidence. As Sonic began to spin Sarath simply raised his right hand towards him, his left hand remaining gripped around his sword.

"Surge surge..." The moment Sonic's spin dash took off so did Sarath's spell. A short range pulse of energy crackled from his fingers, taking the brunt of the impact and likely bringing Sonic to a complete stand still. Sarath himself was sent sliding back a few feet by the force of the recoil but he remained standing.

He kept his hand raised, turning it palm up as a sudden series of black dots appeared around him. Totaling five in number, the dots expanded in size slightly and formed into small black coloured arrows of energy.

"Black Plasma." Sarath's voice didn't seem to hold any emotion at all, it was almost as if he was simply doing a job and neither enjoying or hating it. The five arrows shot off, heading straight towards Sonic.

Silver continued to patrol the skies of Capitol. Everything was different. Not only was the architecture different, but he had never seen a city go up in flames before.

Soon enough he had to land, unable to fly much longer. He landed on a seemingly abandoned college campus not too far away from the center of the city. He was safe for now.

"He has to be here somewhere!" he said referring to Sarath, "Everyone's counting on me!"

A noise sounded not to far away along with a faint flash. It was the sound of battle and the only lead Silver had. Without hesitation, he ran towards the source.

Saria turned around from the fight and started power walking. She had heard the notice of an odd power source coming their way rapidly, but it wasn't a plane or anything. It was far to small to be that, it was a person and they were headed straight here.

I will NOT let anyone interfer!

She kept walking for awhile still she was several blocks and kept walking till finally she saw the target coming her way. She stood still and drew her sword, a simple straight sword by her side. She waited for Silver to come towards her, when he came within range of hearing her. She spoke carefully, showing no sign of anger or happiness.

"I will not allow you to interfer."

She made no move to attack but it was clear she was ready to move if he tried to go beyond her.

Sonic hit the energy barrier and came to a halt, still spinning into it for a moment before popping backwards and landing uncurled on his feet. Unfazed by the defence the hedgehog immediately started running, this time in a circle pattern around Sarath. The alien's black plasma bolts shot towards him but the hero kept running and accelerating, letting the shots just barely miss his back as they grazed by one by one.

"Nice trick!" Sonic called out amidst the fight as he continued to create a thickening circle of blue around the opponent by doing wide laps around him over and over again.

"Glad you like it...there are more of course, but I would assume you know that already. As speedy as you are though, you won't get close enough to me."

Finally raising his sword from the ground, Sarath swung it up in front of him, the blade slowly gaining a covering or electricity. Swinging it back to his side, he allowed his gaze to slowly watch the hedgehog running round him. The dust cloud was a humorous distraction to him, during his sword training he had fought certain lessons blindfolded...not being able to see was a small inconvenience.

He knew he wasn't fast enough to strike the hedgehog when moving...and he would undoubtedly leave himself open if her tried. Thus he waited, watching and waiting to see what move Sonic would pull next.

Silver stopped as a human female blocked his path. One would think she would be looking for help, but this was not the case. She had threatened to attack Silver and even drew her weapon. She was a part of the Imperium, not of this world.

"I don't wish to fight you m'am, but I will protect myself if so," he said

He couldn't help, but chuckle a bit. He really felt like a hero.

Saria stated it simply and matter of factly. She did not want to fight someone who had no intention of fighting. She only was ensuring that Sarath's fight was left alone. She however already knew that if he had come this far then saying "I don't wish to fight" was nothing more then being naive.

"Trying to take all the fun out of a good match?" Sonic taunted back at Sarath from what basically sounded like every direction around him at once. The hedgehog wasn't a fighter really, but he did have a thing for battles in a full contact sport sort of way. Of course, that applied more to friendly battles with his rivals like Knuckles. An alien invader? Well, then it just made for good banter. Sonic knew that the opportunity before him was too good to pass up, but Sarath's men must be watching from everywhere. What exactly would happen when the fox went down?(Because the blue blur certainly wouldn't have come here if he only thought himself capable of less) A hail of alien weapon fire from all angles at once to wipe out their leader's antagonist?

Not that he was thinking that far ahead... after all, too good to pass up.

'He knows my name and my moves. Guess this Sarath guy did his homework before I showed up,' the hero thought, also making a joke about not being fast enough this time in the back of his mind. 'But I haven't been playing these games for two years now. I wonder how much of the current me he knows?'

Deciding to find out Sonic put the fox to the test. His circle path that ensnared the opponent suddenly shrunk a bit as Sonic's distance from Sarath lessened more. This shorter running route also increased his rotation speed in conjunction with the fact that Sonic had just started spinning over the ground for a quick boost that would wear off soon, but long enough to get the job he had in mind done. The air began to rush outwards from the circle in blue-tinted gusts as the hedgehog's reverse Sonic Wind sucked the gas right out of the space his opponent occupied like a vacuum.

"This close should be enough then!" he teased as his focus turned more on his movement than his enemy to make sure he kept the necessary route while he was curled up and rolling, which was an understandable amount more difficult to control than running but still something he had plenty of practice in.

If Sarath didn't want to be touched then Sonic would just have to find out if these aliens needed to breathe and if they fainted without air like Earthlings did He might also learn if electricity is possible in a vacuum, but that sort of science generally went over his blue head.

The first sign of trouble that Sarath recognised was a small cough that left his muzzle. He swallowed, noticing the slowly decreasing level of air in his vicinity. Even so he didn't move just yet, his mind going over the situation.

He was well aware that Saria wouldn't interfere in his match, even if it looked like he was going to loose. The same could be said for those under his command, they knew all too well that they'd be next on the firing line if Sarath did survive. He was on his own, but then Sarath preferred it no other way. Reliance on others was a sign of weakness and that was not to be tolerated. If you are incapable of doing it alone you don't deserve the position.

"So the hedgehog likes to run...it seems this is all he can do, regardless of the side effects. So far the information seems to be proving true enough...very well, time to take this seriously..." he thought to himself as a small smile turned the corner of his mouth.

Taking a breathe of air before it all vanished, he dived forwards. As he did he brought his sword up in front of him, a distinct covering of crackling magical energy coating its length. He struck the blade into the tornado of air around him and detonated the charge.

In fact he had simply combined two of his spells, using his blades charge to cut through the tornado and then a burst similar to the one he had performed earlier to rip it apart. The end effect sent out a powerful blast of electrically charged wind from the impact point.

Sarath himself was thrown clear of the vacuum, spinning in mid air and landing with a small backwards slide on the ground a few meters away. Skilled in rapid firing small magic spells Sarath counter attacked with another round of electric projectiles, aimed randomly back towards where the speeding Sonic had been.

"I shall leave, but what I seek is beyond you!"

Silver took a few steps forward, hoping to continue his mission. Saria instantly blocked his way. She gave him a menacing look, her sword partially unsheathed.

"Very well, for the sake of the future I must fight you," Silver threatened

He stepped back and threw out his arms. His hands began to accumulate a cyan glow once again. Clenching them into fists, Silver threw his weight forward and charged at the offending Imperial.

She rose her shield arm as a faint blue light was gathering by her palm. She bent at the knee's and got ready for Silver as she gathered her magic up in her shield hand.

It had been a day or so since the Guardian of the Master Emerald had left his beloved island. A strange feeling had washed over him as he stared into the Master Emerald. Something, for the second time in his life, was telling him to leave.

Exactly where, he had no clue.

Either way he was following his feelings as it was the only thing he could do. Grabbing his gear and the Master Emerald (as like heck he would leave it unguarded) he began to set out back into the world. Who knew what kind of adventure he would be sucked into next. He natural traveled by land, by his feet and his fist as he would dig tunnels to make his journey easier ( as going through towns wasn’t exactly the best thing to do as people general crowded him) with only his feelings and instincts to guide him through….
Too bad his feelings and instincts kept on getting him to hit solid concrete.

He growled as he found another patch of concert above.

‘Dang roads!’ he thought to himself as he continued slowly to find a patch of plain dirt.

It wasn’t like he couldn’t break through it. Heck, it was easy to break! But conrect meant two things to him as the world was unfolded to him. Either ,A, It was a road/highway, and ,B, it was a sidewalk/ house which meant government officials and normal people would be very angry at him for tearing them up ( like the last time he was in Station Square).

He cursed the world above and the concert slightly as he made his way through.

He had been in the ground for one full hour since he had entered the ground and he was beginning to lose his breath. He needed air, and that combined with a short fuse did not make his situation any better.
Once he got a couple of more feet farther from the spot before, he tried once again to see if there was some nice solid soil with no concert in sight.
And, to his relief, it seemed as though as he found it. He sighed in relief as his anger level died down.
“Finally, I can surface.” He said to himself as he began to dig way…

Only to find that he hit concert once more.
Annnddd the fuse relit itself, and it finally got to Knuckles.

“That….” He started off in a low growl, “ Is..the final….STRAW!!!”

He grabbed his Hammer Gloves from his back and started at the concert with evil eyes.
“ Heck with this! I don’t care –IF- those stupid government officials want me to NOT break the stupid piece of frickn’ concert!!!” He shouted as though the piece of concert was a person, putting the gloves on while he did so.

As soon as they were on, he punched the ground above.

“I.,”

He punched the ground again.

“ WANT.”

He punched it once more.

“OUT!!!”

With all of his might, he punched the ground for the last time. Pieces of concert flew into the air, and fell to the ground as Knuckles managed to punch through and get to the surface. He breathed in and out in anger as he tried to calm himself down. It soon faded as he saw the sight towards him.

It was a city…or, at least what was left of it. Ruble laid all over the city as Knuckles stood at its limits.
“What…happened here?” He asked himself as he looked around, coming out from the ground and standing on solid surface.

[Sorry guys. I just got my computer back from the shop today]

With a rather bright blast of air and energy the Sonic Wind was literally blown apart, sending both the user and the target flying out of the area of effect. Quite used to being tossed around violently, usually by his own volition, Sonic recovered in the air and landed with a loud thump, both feet planted on the side of a thick nearby tree trunk. The hedgehog stayed there horizontally and looking "up" at where his opposition was before gravity could catch up to him and start deciding where his body should be instead of where it was now. Not being one to wait for people to catch up for him though Sonic instead jumped right off the trunk with a powerful spring leap that send him heading back towards ground zero like a missile, nose-first.

He wasn't mad the alien had escaped. If the invader went down that easily then this would have been no fun at all.

While the blue blur was launching back into the fray Sarath's new position was farther back as well and he was also sending something the hero's way in the form of more bolts. Recognizing an incoming hazard and reacting swiftly Sonic also re-used and old trick but with some new style. The airborne athlete trend his body vertical again and spun around, generating a tight Sonic Wind around his form that he manipulated like his own personal ride. The blue breeze that now formed a ring around him also pulled him to the side abruptly, clear out of the path of the projectiles and straight towards, or rather just barely off to the side of, a streetlight. A single white glove reached out to the side and snagged the pole, resulting a harsh u-turn of momentum and a pair of red sneakers once again dashing their way straight at the would-be Overlord of Earth.

"Comin' at'cha!" the blue blur called as his rush to close the gap continued.

Saria was not pushed back at all, her heavy weight, higher strength, and better footing (compared to the lack of in Silver's case). She held his offensive push without so much as moving an inch back as her hit her shield, when he went backward and began to speak. She extended her shield hand out and fired off an ice ball right at Silver before he even started talking.

We are beyond words.

The simple thought crossed her minds as the wheels of war began to turn in her head.

"It seems this would be hero is actually skilled..too bad for him," thought Sarath as a smile crossed his face. As Sonic flew towards him Sarath followed his movements as best he could. This proved difficult due to the speed at which his moves were being performed but none the less he managed to keep a rough tab on where Sonic was.

As Sonic hit the street lamp and changed direction towards him Sarath put his next action into motion. Swinging his sword up in his left hand he tossed it to his right, his grip taking on a more serious and sturdy form. Pointing it directly at the speeding Sonic he cried out, "Discharge!"

The effect was almost instantaneous. A bright yellow glow appeared in Sarath's left hand, the glow expanding into a long stick and then exploding in a shower of fine electrically charged magical particles. Where the glow had been was now a second sword, joined to the first by a cord of magical energy.

Sarath wasted no time, leaping forwards towards the oncoming Sonic with lunge. It was all a faint move though, Sarath jinxing himself to the side and swinging both swords round at Sonic with a horizontal slice.

As he stared wide eyed at the sight before him, he began to dust himself off along with his hat and started to walk forward to the remains of the city.

As he saw it's destructive state, only one possible explain came to mind.

"Eggman." He growled under his breath, pushing his hat over his eyes as his anger level rose. Now was his chance for some long-deserved payback.

BOOM!

Sonic the Hedgehog was suddenly living up to his name in an unexpected burst of speed. Just as Sarath yelled "Discharge" to begin an attack he also gave the hero exactly what true blue had been waiting for. He didn't know what exactly the alien was doing, he just knew he wanted to face it in a head-on collision to see who came out on top. But how would he face an enemy who freely wielded the power of electricity in a direct confrontation? With one of his newer moves, the Super Boost.

By using the Super Boost Sonic was able to accelerate from "Quick" to "What the heck was that blue blur just now?" in a mere instant, robbing Sarath of the time needed to lunge and feint to the side to complete his intended maneuver. Instead Sonic would catch up to the fox's position almost immediately after the spell command had been called out. Changing gears so quickly had another merit though, as the speedster was now encapsulated on the front and sides by a glowing blue slipstream of pressurized air. It served as Sonic's own personal shield and battering ram to protect himself and attack at the same time as the hedgehog barreled towards his foe with a force that would probably feel something like, if only figuratively, getting hit by a runaway train.

... or two.

The blast was slow and steady, yet swift enough for a possible hit. Silver dropped his entire body to the ground, the ice ball barely hitting his foot. A small piece of the asphalt behind him was now frozen. Silver looked up at his opponent and frowned.

I see you move with one of my own!

He remained on the ground and lifted up a hand. Cyan, psychic energy swirled around it before launching off toward Saria.

"Hmph"

She bent at the legs and shot up into the air using her high jump skills, clearing Silver's attack as she was in the air she slowed her decent naturally by gliding a bit backward as she extend her hand out with a red glow in it. A flaming fireball shot forward right at where Silver was standing currently. She performed a small backflip before landing gracefully on her feet, only maybe a few feet where she had been. She heard the beeping on her ear peice as someone was attempting to reach her on the comm.

Knuckles would hear the yell as he only barely just got in the city as a group of three soliders came running. A fox, a rhino, and a hedgehog. The hedgehog point at Knuckles with a happy face.

"Take everything he owns!"

They seemed to be enjoying the 'pirates life'. The rhino was in front. The hedgehog in the back yell out to the rhino.

"I got dibs on the hat!"

Sarath had been expecting speed...but not that much speed. Luckily for him his swords were in a position to bring up to cover his body. Even so he took most of the full force of the hit and was sent flying...quite some distance.

Sarath was no stranger to pain though. As such, when he finally made contact with a tree some several hundred meters away he was only partically stunned by it. He slid to the ground, coughing harshly as he hit the floor. Looking down he found his saliva caked in blood. It was even worst when he tried to move, the fox almost letting out a cry as he tried to move.He had broken something, most likely a rib or two, and his body was heavily bruised.

Even so Sarath had had worse injuried and he wasn't about to let himself be bested by this cocky opponent. Digging the tips of his swords into the ground he hoisted himself to his feet, growling almost continually to avoid screaming in pain. If there was one thing Sarath detested it was showing weakness or being weak. As such he had trained himself to supress pain as best he could, he couldn't let his troops see him in a condition they may concider frail.

He had just stood up when a bleep ran through the air and a video screen appeared in thin air beside him.

"My Lord! Please forgive the intrusion...but we have a problem. We have detected a new force of contact incoming, they match the same as this planets military."

Sarath's growling reached a pitch, causing the badger on the screen to whince. "Fine! So they think they can still defeat me...it will be their funerals. Prepare the ship for take off, I will be joining you shortly. Have all airbourne ships assume battle positions."

"Yes my Lord...are...are you alright?"

Sarath looked round at the screen, his eyes ablaze with sudden anger. The badger went white, stammered a salute and cut the line. He knew he would be punished for that comment. Sarath meanwhile looked back in the direction he had been thrown.

Limping slightly he set off forwards, using one of his two swords as a walking aid. He looked a lot less threatening now than he did before.

Knuckles first looked towards them with a dumbfounded expression. They were in uniforms, for one, but he didn't recognize what they belonged too. Obviously, they weren't with G.U.N., and not only that but they were going to try to take everything away from him...

Including his beloved hat.

But, instead of feeling irritated and saying 'I don't have time to mess with you punks!', a sly smirk came upon his face. He glared towards the Rhino, Fox and hedgehog with what looked to be glee.

Why, must you ask? Why, because he hadn't kicked some butt in a loonnggg time. Two years to be exact. There was ruble everywhere. This made him go into a sly smile. Weren’t they just lucky to be the first ones to get a taste of a new move?

With his left hand he picked up a large piece of ruble (what looked to be a piece of a concert building and was also larger than he was) with relative ease and tossed it slightly into the air. It landed back in his hand and he repeated the process.

“I’d like to see you try.” He said with a great amount of glee. Afterwards, he stopped the tossing and he put his left foot back before he rocketed the large piece of ruble right towards the line of the three soldiers.

Sonic screeched to a halt some moments after the impact, his blue wind aura dissipating in front of him in a wave of force that blew a lot of grass out of the ground. As the thin strands of green rained back to the earth the hedgehog looked over to where Sarath had landed hard with his usual cocky-but-ready-for-action look.

'Never used that on a person before,' he thought to himself, keeping a mental note. 'But looks like I didn't hit him too hard.'

"Come on, is that all you got?" Sonic chided the opponent with a shrug and a shake of his quilled head. "Alien invaders always have some kind of secret weapon to pull out in the end right?"

Granted this was the hero's first encounter with alien invaders.... but hey, he'd seen the movies.

"I think I'll look for it in your ship!"

Leaving the injured enemy where he was Sonic turned and dashed off towards the grounded vessel that Sarath had come out of in the first place.

[I sent a PM to Silver a little awhile go but its been awhile so I'm moving on.]

Saria saw her fireball explode when it hit the ground but she didn't wait to confirm what happened to Silver. She turned around and broke into a slow but steady run back towards the ship. She placed her hand on her comm unit to finally accept what was being spoke to her.

General, we have several inbound aircraft. Lord Sarath appears to be getting ready to take charge.

"What of the Valkyrie?"

Checking status of all Valkyrie, stand by...

Saria was coming towards the ship at a good pace, her armor barely moving as if it was a second skin to her.

Valkyrie Cicle, currently in her personal quarters and on sick leave due to a fractured ankle.

She already knew Cicle was out due to her own mistakes.

...Order Sent. Valkyrie Felia passed her medical check. She is suffering from a bullet wound in her shoulder. Medical has deemed her fit for duty, but to avoid using that arm.

"Call her to Ready Room 1 as well."

She may be injuried which would make using a sword a problem but she could still use magic and as long as she could do something, then she was going to work.

... Order Sent. Valkyrie Ruth is currently in medical ward. Her emeny broke both of her legs and she is currently completely crippled.

Saria face showed a big of disappointment. She had sent them before to investigate that recon team and then she comes back with broken legs. She would need to be properly displicplened later. The operator didn't need to be ask to go on, it seems to understood what Saria's silence met.

Valkyrie Fora, returned with advanced flank. She is currently on break.

"Call her to..."

Order Sent.

Saria gave a small smile, as cutting her off normally was rude and something she didn't like but her operator had been with her so long that she already knew the order and Saria didn't mind it. She liked people would could think and give the order she would have given if possible.

Valkyrie Hurst, currently in the personal louge and currently off duty.

"Sent her orders to get geared up and get to the ready room."

Saria made a turn as she was now running up the plank into the ship. She needed to get to the bridge so she could properly see the numbers and forces they were facing.

Order Sent, I'll send word once they are all in the ready room.

Saria stepped onto one of the lifts and she hit the bridge. She was going find out what was going on and then create a battle plan regarding the attack. She was not going to allow this show of resistance to go unchecked.

Afterward, I'll have to take the pro-active stance and destory all centers of technology. We can't afford them to be building anymore.

The trio of furries were a bit suprised by what Knuckles was able to lift and when he threw the rock at them the fox and the hedgehog dived to the side but the rhino however, being too big and too slow. He took the hit dead on as he went down and out, his rips crushed by the blow. The fox and the hedgehog looked at each other, pissed.

"You!"

The fox pulled out a handgun and began firing at Knuckles, shooting blue bolts of energy at hm. The hedgehog was pulling the rifle slung across his back to his front and seemed like he was going to start firing shortly as well.

Silver rolled over away from the fireball. He wasn't hit directly by it, but the explosion got to him and sent him flying onto the sidewalk. Silver stumbled to his feet and shook it off. The blast had barely hit his hand, lightly burning a finger or two.

"That's it! I'm done being civil!" he yelled

However, his opponent had left? To where? Who cares, he could now move on. Silver continued his trek to the center of the city.

[I have, its been a week since I last posted, how long would you like me to wait?]

Sarath watched Sonic speed off towards his ship, a small smile crossing his muzzle, he knew the hedgehog would never get onboard...at least not without loosing a few limbs in the process.

As Sonic sped towards the ship a figure became clear standing on the ramp that led down from the ship. A strange purple light surrounded the figure who stood with their arms out. As he got closer he would be able to see it was actually a brown coloured mouse. What she wore covered her chest and upper part of her thighs, the rest of her body apart from some minor accessories being bare. Instead her body seemed to be covered in numerous glowing purple tattoos, each one having a different pattern.

"You'll pay for what you did!" said the mouse to herself, her especially small size hiding the anger that lingered inside her, "Oh yes you'll pay! You dare even lay a finger on my Lord! I'LL SEE YOU IN HELL! MANA BURN!"

The mouse suddenly began to glow even brighter, four large patterns appearing in the air around her like the ones that adorned her body. "ELEMENTAL CANNON!"

Almost as she said the words the four symbols around her pulsed and erupted, four large beams of magical energy screaming away from her in different colours. Each one was roughly heading in Sonic's direction, the mouse seemingly having a little trouble aiming the titanic spell...even so the size of the beams did make aiming a little pointless.

Sarath slowly continued on his way, collapsing his sword spell to retain his magical power as he made his way slowly back towards the ship. In the sky above him he could see the battle starting, he was in no rush to return to the ship. He knew his men could handle things for a while...and as Sonic said, if things did get very bad he always had his ace card.

“Aaah Sh--!!”

Knuckles didn’t have much time to finish his sentence as the fox began to fire at him with his hand, in which Knuckles veered to the right to take cover beside what was left of a building. As soon as he was covered he began what to think next. He had two left to go, the fox and the hedgehog. The fox had a hand gun and was shooting at him, while the Hedgehog had a rifle and was probably about to shoot as well. And not to mention, as he began to think, he had to keep one of them conscious to get some answers about what was going on.

But, he first had to ask one question to himself….

Handgun, or rifle?

‘Rifle.’ He quickly answered himself as he picked up another large piece which was probably a little smaller than he was. He threw the rock into the air jumped up, and hit it hard with his right like, like a volley ball.

“Rock Shot!” he shouted, as the rock rocketed towards its target. As he began to go back to the ground he did a drill drive with his Shovel gloves and began to dig underground, holding his breath as he sealed the entrance to the beginning part of the hole as he begun to dig through the ground.

Shadow dashed through a side alleyway that led into the park. He stopped and jumped onto the wall next to him, then the wall on the other side, higher up than he was before. He proceded to wall jump up until he reached the roof of the building and he got a look at the park. Sure enough, there was a massive ship there. And there was...

"Sonic?!" Shadow shouted aloud upon spotting the little blue speck in front of the alien ship. "What the hell is he doing here? If this is where Sarath is... could that mean he's already fighting Sarath?!" Shadow quickly quieted down and knelt behind the ridge of the roof, so as not to be seen. He fully expected someone to spot him and attack after that little outburst. Damn it, I've got to get control of myself. So what if that hedgehog is here? I should have expected him to be in the heart of the action.

Shadow stood up and jumped down to the street bordering the park. So what if he was spotted? It was unlikely that all of Sarath's goons were as tough as the wolf that had stolen his Chaos Emerald. And besides, Chaos powers weren't all Shadow had in his arsenal. "Why should I be afraid?" Shadow said aloud as he walked confidently towards the park. "I am the Ultimate Life Form! I fear no one!" Then he noticed the giant beams of energy being fired from inside the alien ship. That might be a problem, he thought.

Well, if that way had been too hazardous he'd been prepared to find his own, more amusing way in... but even the hedgehog had to admit he'd expected more. A few tanks and laser-totting grunts were the least he wanted to encounter.

'These aliens sure seem to like magic, he thought to himself, reminded of his battles against Shadow the Hedgehog two years ago and the black hedgehog’s chaos powers; his first real battle against anything magical in nature. 'I guess its more interesting than if they were just tech-heavy like Eggman though.'

At that thought true blue heard the mouse yell out "Mana Burn!" after she'd been mumbling something to herself well out of his earshot. He stepped back and widened his arms in reflex as the purple energies around her turned into four glowing symbols and radiated power. Seeing that this girl just might give him the head-to-head challenge he was aching for the hero's stance quickly turned to a straight standing pose, left shoulder angled towards the alien vessel and a toothy grin spread across the right side of his muzzle.

"Now that's what I'm talking about!"

Even though he wasn't moving, one could almost see a blue tail streaking out from behind him, a blurred wind that was slowly growing out and shaking more violently with each passing millisecond as if in anticipation of what was to come. Then, just as the lady unleashed her Elemental Cannon, Sonic the Hedgehog unleashed his Super Boost at full tilt, blasting forward with a literal Sonic Boom as the same slipstream surrounded him as in his previous attack. Recklessly he charged head-first into the four massive beams of multi-colored magical power bearing down on him while running at literally his full speed(Well past the speed of sound).

Saying there was a loud noise would be the biggest understatement of the year.

A massive blast echoed out from the park easily audible to even Knuckles from his distance and came with a shockwave to match. Being the closest one nearby Sarath was in the most danger of being knocked off his feet entirely while Saria, Shadow and Silver would no doubt be feeling a powerful wave of wind blowing dirt and debris their way soon enough. The power of the two opposing forces crashing together was clear... but where was Sonic the Hedgehog in all this?

Doing what he did best: Running.

The tiny slipstream that surrounded the speedster like an aerodynamic capsule was no more... now it was a massive slipstream of blue flowing air, having increased exponentially upon contact with a massive opposition, pushing against the huge wall of dangerous magic that opposed it. Wind and destructive energy both poured outwards and around the central focus point of the clash, tearing up the park on either side and creating a constant rumbling that reverberated outwards like a beacon letting everyone know where the action was. At the very point from which all the waves of bright blue air were gushing out from was none other than the one colouring them. Sonic was running, almost in place but for a slight forward momentum, untouched. In front of him just a few inches from his forward-tilted head was the quickster's slipstream barrier. On the other side of that was the converging Elemental Cannon attack which was being led to slip off to either side of Sonic's slanted stream in order to redirect the main mass of pressure the mouse's attack possessed and protect the hero as he inched forward against the blast little by little.

What power could possibly be allowing Sonic to oppose such energies, even indirectly you ask? His legs, of course. No normal person would actually be in a position to look at them closely right now but those two red sneakers were moving a lot faster than the eye could follow, over a thousand miles per hour worth of kinetic energy at work. Sonic's top speed was pushing all of its potential energy forward into not directly clashing the Elemental Cannon, but rather pushing itself through the gap created by the fact that there were four separate beams instead of one. Normally one might think it a bad idea to pit just wind against a magic attack likely composed of fire, earth, wind and water energy(If the name and colour scheme was any indication of course)... but that wasn't what he was doing. Sonic couldn't use magic, he just used speed. With that speed he generated pure force and the fact that air got pushed around by it for many of his moves was just a natural side-effect of living in an atmosphere. At the core of the special move it was an arrow-headed battering ram of just pure force that was poking its way between the nearly impenetrable gap in those beams, a neutral power to which there was no natural fear of negation or weakness; only a test of raw strength. Granted that would still be a poor choice considering the lady's Mana Burn probably boosted her attack power to nuclear hieghts, but therein lies the beauty of letting the pressure slide off the sides of his barrier rather than push directly against it.

The question now was, what would happen first? Would the mouse's attack end and she be faced with a Super Boost head-on just like her leader(Not that Sonic would hit a lady so hard, of course. He'd just screech to a halt and let the air currents following him blast past like a blue wind shotgun with enough force to knock her out without killing her)? If her Mana Burn proclomation was anything like it sounded(That is, burning up all her energy for one massive attack) then chances were it wouldn't last a heck of a long time. If it did have an enduring beam though then would Sonic successfully push through the gap between the four blasts with his slipstream and deliver her an identical fate as in the latter? Or if the lengthy attack time was true but also quite exceptionally so, would Sonic run out of steam and fail to produce the running power necessary to maintain his head-on offensive defence successfully and be exposed to a highly destructive force? As his legs burned with the familiar and even pleasant sensation that only came from going all-out, something he loved to have the chance to do for as long as possible, Sonic the Hedgehog knew which of the possible outcomes he was betting on seeing to the end, even if it cost him a lot of juice all in one go.

Never doubt the power of Sonic speed!

The mouse could feel her energies starting to run out. Her Elemental Cannon spell was one of her more powerful, and as such took a great deal of energy to maintain. It was made only more powerful and energy draining by her Mana Burn burn spell that released all safety locks on her energy useage.

"Grrrr.....pesky bug!" she growled, an odd gesture from a mouse.

"Are we having fun Latooni?"

Looking to her side briefly the mouse became aware of a new presence beside her, that of Lefina. The mouse growled again and looked back into her spell.

"I would make you beg for help just to annoy you...but we can't have you loosing in the meantime can we. Very well...allow me to assist."

Lefina slowly stepped up behind Latooni and closed her eyes. "Oh heavenly mother, one that looks and watches over all, allow us a portion of your strength and fill us with your glory. Everlasting well of strength, grant power to those that need it...MANA CHARGE!"

As the keyword went out an odd golden glow surrounded Latooni. Immediately afterwards the multi coloured beams started to change colour as well, slowly turning golden and starting to crackle. Latooni began to chuckle, "Now we end this, ERUPTION!"

A bright glow left the magic circles that surrounded her, each one eventually pulsing and shrinking into nothing. As they did the beams they were generating suddenly shot forwards, the end heading straight towards the impact point with Sonic. Oddly enough the forward pressure remained and the same.

It took only but a moment for all four beams to reach the impact point...then it happened. There was a moment of silence, a momentary glint and then an explosion. The noise was even greater than the one caused by Sonic's impact...as if a nuclear warheard had gone off at point blank range. The sound rattled the trees, weak branches being broken off by the vibrations, builds around the edge of the park shook, pieces of them crumbling off and slamming into the streets below...

Then the shockwave hit, generated by the intense compression of overcharged magical energy the blast wave was devastating. The ground nearby rippled and was thrown up into the air, trees groaned and snapped in two....even at the edge of the park the shockwave managed to rip the very structure out of some of the buildings causing them to suddenly collapse in on themselves.

Even Sarath's ship, the Monoceros, was affected, tilting dangerously on its landing legs, debris and rock slamming into its outer hull with impressive force. It finally settled back down on its legs and the scene became quiet. Where Sonic and Latooni's spell had made contact there was now a large crater in the ground. Several meters deep and about 20 wide the surface had been turned to glass by the intense heat and pressure caused by the spell.

All around the park trees, buildings and other things had been thrown outwards, the radius of the blast highly evident. Sonic would no doubt be alright, the winds generated by his running would likely have cushioned the blast sufficiently to avoid any serious harm but where he was now was a mystery.

Latooni and Lefina meanwhile had been thrown backwards by the blast, landing far up the landing ramp that led down from the ship. They scrambled to their feet, retreating quickly into the bowls of the ship.

Sarath meanwhile had yet to pick himself up from the first blast when the second hit. The force of the shockwave threw him back even further, slamming him back against another tree (before it broke). This time he cried out. a sharp bark of pain as his already battered body was again beaten against a tree.

Digging his sword tip into the ground he forced himself to his feet, his full weight supported on his sword. Waving his hand briefly to the side he brought up a comm screen and spoke. "Prepare Kai systems for activation. Release all safety locks and begin preparations."

"Y-Yes my Lord," came a reply.

Sarath slowly straightened himself up, trying to ignore the pain that was shooting through his entire body as he began to make his way slowly towards the Monoceros again.

The hedgehog saw the classic volleyball setup and ducke the rock went right over his head and into the ground behind him, a close call. He stood back up as he noticed Knuckles had dug underground. The fox slowly walked towards the hole being very mindful that his opponent just through a gaint rock that took out a rhino.

"Damn! He went underground."

The fox cursed behind careful to watch he stepped.

Finally, Silver had made it to the park, but at the worst possible moment. High velocity winds shot out, sending him back a few steps. Debris flew everywhere. Something big was going down and it wasn't pretty.

"Don't tell me he already got the emeralds!"

He couldn't see much with the dust blowing in his face, but he could see a gathering of Imperials ganging up on someone. They looked Elite. Sarath had to be close.

"Ok it's time to...WHA!"

Silver quickly jumped forward as giant pieces of metal fell from the sky. The shockwaves and winds coming from the park were destroying an entire city block.

"Close one," he assured himself, "whoever's in there must have spooked these Imperials good!"

[My god, what the hell is the posting order here? I thought I had it down, and then suddenly everything goes to hell!]

Shadow had been dashing towards the park when the first shockwave had struck, and he was knocked backwards of his feet by the resulting blast of wind. It had been an easy matter for him to recover from it however, as he simply turned it into a backflip and landed safely on his feet. He had just began running again when the second blast hit. This time he was flung away, slamming hard into a building that was quickly blown away by the force of the blast.

"Damn it," Shadow groaned under his breath as he slowly got to his feet. He hadn't hurt that much in... well, two years, actually. Not since his fight with Sonic...

The thought of Sonic quickly snapped Shadow back to his senses. Was he alright? What exactly had caused that blast? Could Shadow's Chaos Emerald have had something to do with it? Shadow growled under his breath before taking off at top speed towards the epicenter of the blast, where there now was a huge, smoking crater.

Shadow couldn't see anything of the crater when he arrived, as the unsettled dust and smoke completely obscured it from view. He certainly didn't see Sonic, at any rate. However, as he circled the crater to try to get a better view, he did spot Sarath limping towards his ship. Of course, there was no way Shadow could know this was actually Sarath, leader of the aliens. He thought it was merely some soldier, and so he acted accordingly.

That is, he attacked him.

Shadow charged at the fox, his Air Shoes causing a minature tornado behind him in the smoke and dust. "Damn it you alien scum, where the hell is Sonic the Hedgehog?!" he roared as he leaped into the air, spinning around to deliver a strong roundhouse kick to Sarath's head.

As he began to make his way through, he finally sensed something.

It had been much more powerful before hand before it became incredible weak.

It was a Chaos Emerald.

Knuckles blinked in surprise. He wasn’t expecting to find a Chaos Emerald so soon, and for it to suddenly go out like it did. Which, did NOT mean anything good, in his books.

“Gaaahhhh!” Knuckles growled, “ Now I don’t have time to mess with these punks! I’ve got to get to my emerald!”

He began to dig furiously towards the park ground, towards the faint source of the emerald.

[Well as Sonic is gonna be away for a bit lets move this on for now.]

Sarath heard Shadow coming a mile off although in his wounded condition he wasn't exactly in a state to fight. He jumped back as the kick came in, narrowly avoiding it, but the tornado like effect of Shadow's air shoes and his wounds did mean he fell straight to the ground as he landed.

He coughed slightly and gave a small smile at Shadow. "Another hedgehog? My this planet certainly has a liking for hedgie heroes now doesn't it...or at least it did." Sarath's grin widenned slightly. "I'm afraid your hero is most likely scattered into his component molecules at this moment..."

He looked over his shoulder at the giant crater that sat in front of the ship currently parked on the ground. "Such a sad way to go...heheh..."

Not too far off, on the landing ramp of the Monoceros actually, Lefina was dragging the now unconcious Latooni up the ramp in a most undignified way. "Stupid mouse..." she muttered to herself as she reached the top and dragged her into the ship. As she did the landing ramp began to close, eventually slamming shut with a metallic clang. A whine filled the air as the ships thrusters began to activate.

[Ok this has taken long enough, moving us on.]

Behind Sarath the Monoceros slowly began to rise from the ground, its huge form taking a moment to defy the laws of gravity. Sarath glanced back and chuckled, "Hate to call a halt to this little meeting...but I have pressing matter's to attend to...namely a large number of funerals..."

With another chuckle he slapped his left hand across to his sword grip. A tiny whine filled the air before a haze began to form around Sarath. A moment later it was clear to see what was going on, he was vanishing! It took all but a few moments, the grey fox shimmering out of view...

On the Monoceros Lefina had just dumped Latooni in the cargo bay and left her. She wasn't fond of the mouse, she was too outspoken and disrespectful. Of all of her lords companions she was the least favoured. The only reason Sarath kept her was for the raw power she could deal at a moments notice...but she was a one hit wonder, Latooni would likely be unconcious for several days now while her energies recovered.

Lefina had other matters to attend to anyway, namely her lord and the glowing gem she was now carrying. She smiled to herself as she continued on into the ships bowels.

On the bridge of the Monoceros there was a flash and a series of surprised faces as Sarath's battered form appeared in the centre of the bridge. A couple of the crew either looked ready to or did indeed make a move to help him. Sarath however let out a growl that could have curdled fresh milk and they backed off.

"What's the status of the Kai systems?" he said coldly as he straightened himself up, using his sword as a support.

"R-Ready my lord! But they still haven't been tested..."

"Does it look like I care about that minor detail?! All simulations have been favourable and if you dare question my orders again I will personally throw you overboard!"

Sarath's tone was different to before, colder, unsteady. "Proceed to full battle speed and prepare checks to release the final safety locks!"

[Alright, kids. Here's the deal.

Sarath is gone. That leaves Shadow, Sonic, Silver, and Knuckles in this topic.

Posting order is Sonic, Silver, Shadow, and Knuckles assuming that Viper's thugs have left. I don't know what happened to Blitz and I am clueless as to Billy's plans with Sonic, but he hasn't posted as him in this topic in ages, which leaves Knuckles and Silver. Until those two come back, I suggest you two continue as you would.]

(I can use the three day rule on this one, right?)

Shadow grit his teeth at the fox upon hearing of Sonic's supposed fate. "No, no, you're wrong!" he growled. "Sonic has cheated death in far tighter situations. He's alive, he has to be!"

At that moment he sensed somthing coming from the massive alien ship. It was weak, and a bit far off, but present all the same. "What? Can it be?" Shadow said aloud. He almost made for the ship, until he noticed it was already closed. "Damn!" Shadow growled. Then he noticed the fox again... or what was left of it; it seemed to be dissapearing into thin air! "Hold on, I'm not done with you!" Shadow roared, charging at the fox only to dash through empty air.

Behind him, the massive ship lifted off, soaring into the sky. "Damn it, he's gotten away," Shadow said through gritted teeth. "And so did the thing that I sensed..." Shadow pulled out his Emerald, which was still dull and lifeless. "I'm sure I sensed another Emerald on that ship... but that Lefina didn't know what the Emerald was, and if they had already had one, she would have known what mine was..."

Shadow shook his head, dispelling his train of thought. "I'll worry about that later," he said to himself. "I need to figure out what to do right now." He turned to the smoking crater in which Sonic had apparently met his end. "Should I search for Sonic... or try to find a way to restore my Emerald... or just find some aliens to kill... hmm..."

His head popped from the ground once he got a little bit closer to where the faint energy of the nearby emerald was. He spit abruptly, and coughed a little has pieces of rock and dirt came from him mouth.

"PHEW! Damn! I hate it when I dig fast and I get a bunch of dirt in my mouth!" He shouted, wiping his tongue off to get the remaining bits off.

Once finished he looked around at his surroundings. The city was still a complete mess. Maybe even a little bit worse than before, as it was soon obvious that no one was around.

"Damn....This really has to be egghead's doing!" He cursed to himself as he looked in a different direction. It was still desolate as he was Shadow and a bunch of smoke while some kind of-

His mind came to a screeching halt as he looked back towards Shadow.

Wait, Shadow!?

No way..." He said slightly to himself, as he pulled himself to the ground. He began to run towards him, as he finally came in a more 'closer' view, he saw the Chaos Emerald in his hand....

Now, granted, Shadow did help save the world....but it was also his fault that all that mess happened along with Robotnik.

So Knuckles wasn't exactly going to be all buddy-buddy.

"HEY, YOU!!!" HE yelled as his anger was rising, "GIVE ME MY EMERALD, YOU PUNK!!!"

Silver casually walked into the now clearing battleground. He cursed himself as he watched the Imperial ship take flight, missing his shot at Sarath.

"And yet again I fail," he said to himself

He had no idea how many emeralds Sarath had collected yet, but he kept hoping that the numbers were few. The power of the seven chaos emeralds allowed Sarath to become immortal and rule the Earth for thousands of years. Silver couldn't allow that!

Perking his ears up, the wannabe hero heard shouting. Words that would cause conflict in a world already in conflict. Scanning the wastes, Silver caught sight of a red echidna. It seemed that he was the when causing the noise.

Shadow turned to see the source of the yelling, and his eyes were met with the sight of the angry red echidna. "Hmph, you want this Emerald?" he said, holding it up almost tauntingly. "Who said it's yours? I'm the only one in the world that can unlock the true power of Chaos, so I think the Emerald is mine. What are you gonna do about it?"

Then a thought struck him. He remembered, back to that fateful day on the ARK... there had been an echidna there... yes, he had been Sonic's friend, and he was the one that freed the Emeralds from the Eclipse Cannon. But Shadow had only seen him that once, so his memory of him was a touch fuzzy... but he had been red... and there was somthing else... somthing about his hands maybe? His gloves? Yes, they had had spikes on them. Shadow looked at this echidna's clenched fists. Sure enough, they each had a pair of spikes on the knuckles. "Yes, that's right, that was his name. You're Knuckles, right?" Shadow said, somewhat less tauntingly than before. "Hmm... you were the echidna on the ARK with the Master Emerald, the one who could control the Chaos Emeralds. Maybe you can help me out. You see, one of those aliens somehow drained this Emerald of power. Would it be possible for you to restore it's power?"

Knuckles skidded at a stop, standing a bit of a distance away staring him down with a harsh glare.

“Maybe.” He replied back, with a little sarcasm tone as he adjusted his hat a little bit.

After he was done, he folded his arms across his chest and stared him down some more. “Even if I could, why should I help you?!” He snapped, “The last time I remember you, you were working for Robotnik! And seeing you right now her all of a sudden, I don’t see how I can trust you. You may of helped Sonic and us back up in the ARK and beat that Bio-whatever-it-was, but it was Dr. Robotnik AND you’re fault that mess even began in the first place!”

He looked away and paused. Then he looked back at Shadow with the same glare as always.

"And those emeralds -are- MINE. I'm the only one that can stop them and make sure this whole world doesn't turn upside down. All of them belong back on Angel Island. With -ME-."

Shadow grit his teeth. This echidna was getting very annoying. Every minute he wasted trying to convince Knuckles that they were on the same side was another minute he wasn't working to stop that wolf, Lefina, from handing over the power of a Chaos Emerald to Sarath. He had to cut this short, and fast.

Just then, his attention was grabbed by a different matter, namely a silver-furred hedgehog appearing out of nowhere and asking to be excused. If it isn't one problem it's another, Shadow thought somewhat angrily. I just hope this guy isn't another alien... Shadow turned to the hedgehog. "You're excused," he said bluntly, then turned back to Knuckles, an idea forming in his mind.

"Alright then, lemme put it to you this way. The alien that drained the power from my Emerald is taking the stolen energy to the alien leader, a guy named Sarath. With that power, they would not only be stronger than ever but they may be able to trace it's energy and find the other Emeralds. With the power of all seven Emeralds they could conquer this planet thrice over." Shadow smiled at this point. Hopefully Knuckles would take the bait. "You can stop them from using that stolen power. The only problem is you can't get to it. It's up in one of their ships. You have no means of getting there. But I do. If you revive my Emerald, I can use Chaos Control to warp us up onto that ship, and then you can stop them. I'll even give you my Emerald afterwards, since it seems to matter to you so much. So what do you say?" Shadow held out the faded Emerald. "Do we have a deal?"

The bottom of his eye twitched. He really felt like punching him –hard- in the face, but what he said was true. Of course, he had no idea what he was talking about, it sounded true enough.

He paused, staring at the emerald.

He slowly placed his hand on top of it.

“The severs are…” Knuckles began to mumble under gritted teeth, “the seven Chaos. Chaos is power, power enriched by the heart. The controller is the one that unifies the Chaos. Only you can do this! Bring back the Chaos Emerald’s power!”

A bright glow emitted from behind his back as the Chaos emerald began to get its power back slowly. Knuckles didn’t seem too happy though, as he got the Master Emerald to pour the energy back into it. He didn’t trust him, and he certainly didn’t think that Shadow was actually going to give him the emerald. But, he couldn’t let some ‘aliens’ take over the world on his watch.

Shadow watched silently as Knuckles re-energized the Chaos Emerald. He could feel the power return to the Emerald, watched as it's lustrous glow returned, and basked in the energy the Emerald once again exerted. "Ahhh..." Shadow sighed softly, as though a tremendous weight had been removed from him.

After a short time Shadow could sense that the Emerald was fully rejuvenated and the flow of energy between the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emerald slowed, faded, and stopped altogether. He opened his eyes, unaware that he had even closed them at some point during the process, and smiled to Knuckles. "Thank you," he said, stepping back from Knuckles. "You have no idea how much I appreciate this, and you probably never will." Suddenly Shadow's smile took on a slightly more sinister, conniving aspect, and he took a couple more paces back. "Now I'm afraid you'll have to excuse me. I have business elsewhere. Good luck with the silver one," he said, jerking his thumb towards Silver. "Forgive me, and adieu. Chaos Control!"

In a sudden flash of light, Shadow disappeared, and the Emerald along with him, leaving the echidna and the silver hedgehog behind. On the far side of the park Shadow reappeared on the roof of a building an instant later, only to disappear once more, this time not to reappear.

Silver just stood there, both perplexed and yet calm. The black hedgehog seemed capable of handling the emerald. As long as it didn't get into Sarath's hands, he was fine. He turned his attention to the red echidna.

Knuckles stood there in a dumfound, yet angry look. He stood there, silently not moving a muscle. Any time beforehand he would have flipped his lid as soon as the hedgehog had left. But he had learned that he should keep as calm as possible.

And he was calm.

So very calm.

So…..very calm.

The bottom lid of his left eye twitched from him containing his anger. His face began to go sour as he tried to contain it. He slowly turned his head towards the Silver hedgehog, -TRYING- to keep a calm not angry face.

“Hi.” he replied back in a very dark and low tone. It was obvious that his attempts at concealing his anger failed miserably.
