The Roof of the Base
Blitzkrieg on Mar. 17 2008,08:45
[from Cross Country] Blitzkrieg flew towards the island, flying high so as to come in above it. He expected opposition, and as such held his arms loosley at his sides, ready to fight at a moment's notice. Having met no resistance yet, he began to circle the island about a mile off, searching for a suitable area to land on the roof. ((does this work better?)) Blitzkrieg on Mar. 18 2008,20:47 Blitzkrieg circled closer, coming in for a better view, until he was about a quarter mile from shore. From there he could hear a faint blaring that seemed to come from the base; it seemed as though they had spotted him. He smiled. Looks like it might be time for some fun, he thought to himself. I haven't stretched my arms in quite some time. He stopped circling and faced what seemed to be the front of the base, if there was one, waiting for the enemies that were sure to come. Dakoter A. on Mar. 19 2008,05:30 [This Topic is getting cluttered... Sorry for the wait, Mr. Blitz; TGR is out at the moment, so I'll be in his stead, making your approach living hell! And Mods, I'm a bit rusty on the bases defense/offense capabilities, so if I step outta line please tell me! By the way, Blitz's last post is okidoree =P. (Can we delete all the OOC posts now?)] The base's turrets rose out from bunkers, sights trained on the intruding android; the automatic defense system had a little plan in store for the bot, and initiated it by firing off a volley of warning shots from multiple turrets. [now I'm done =P] Blitzkrieg on Mar. 19 2008,17:50 The warning shots didn't faze the android for a second. He stood upon his Extreme Gear like he was the king of the world, as though he was afraid of nothing. "Come now," Blitzkrieg called out, although he doubted anyone could hear him. "Were those warning shots, or is your aim really that bad?" He was careful not to make any aggressive actions until he absolutley had to. After all, he was coming to Robotnik for help, not to wreck his base. Dakoter A. on Mar. 20 2008,21:00 [Dude, Writer's Block hit me with the vengeance... ] Had the defense system heard and had the AI to answer said question, it would have opted for the first option; however, it didn't and opted to blow the Android out of (or into THEN out of) the water. Three homing missiles blasted out of a cluster of mortars and shot toward Blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg on Mar. 20 2008,21:30 (no prob man, happens to the best of us.) "Hah, missiles? Is that the best you can do?" Blitzkrieg shouted with a laugh. He waited until the missiles were almost to him before shooting sharply upwards, letting the missiles fly right past him. He didn't count on the homing, however. At the last second Blitzkrieg noticed the sound of the missiles approaching and dodged them with a backwards loop. Two of the missiles colided with each other as they turned to home in again, and they both exploded. The third shot through the smoke, taking Blitzkrieg by surprise and slamming dead-on into his chest. The resulting explosion knocked Blitzkrieg off of his Extreme Gear, causing him to plummet towards the ocean until he lashed out with one arm and grabbed his Extreme Gear, pulling it back to him from about 15 feet away. He leapt back aboard, holding his chest with one hand. Blitzkrieg's chestplate was thick and dense, but even he couldn't take a missile and come out unscathed. Green sparks sprayed from the deep dent in his chestplate, giving away the fact that he had lost a lot of power from that hit. Dang, Blitzkrieg thought to himself. Alright, enough grandstanding. I gotta get in there before those turrets chew me up! He pulled one of his chaos drives from his sash and held it close to his belly, causing green lightning to spark between his belly and the drive until the drive lost it's green glow. He tossed it away; it was used up and useless now. Then he revved his EX Gear and shot off towards the base once more. (sorry if my post is too long... I guess you could say I have writer's un-blocked. Or, you know, somthing witty that was the opposite of writer's block >.<) Dakoter A. on Mar. 22 2008,21:00 (There's no such thing as too long =P. Sorry for the wait..) It was clear the that the homing missiles had a... negative effect on the android, and the base unloaded another three of the same kind, with the added bonus of a single torpedo racing toward the bot below the surface, hardly leaving a trace above water... Blitzkrieg on Mar. 23 2008,00:02 Although he didn't notice the torpedo, he noticed the missiles immedietly. Blitzkrieg would have smiled if he hadn't been in so much pain. You would think that they would know not to use the same move twice, he thought. Blitzkrieg was quickly closing with the base, and the missles were closing with him. He had only about a minute to come up with a plan, and what a plan it was. He knelt on his EX Gear, grabbing on to the sides and gripping tightly. The android waited until seconds before the missiles were going to hit him, then dodged with a ninetey degree angle turn upwards, so that he shot straight up. The missiles passed him up by about 10 feet before homing back in. Blitzkreig slowed until the missiles were within a foot of him, and he could feel the heat of their rockets. He maintained distance, keeping the missiles a foot away from him as he turned downwards and headed straight for the base. He kept coming, still holding on to the sides of his EX Gear, and at about 5 feet from the base he shot straight up again, letting the missiles crash into the roof. Blitzkrieg gunned his Extreme Gear and shot off at top speed straight up to avoid the huge explosion that blew a 10 foot whole in the roof. "Hey, you saps think you could make it any easier for me?" he shouted down at the base, though again he doubted anyone could hear him. The android finished up his complex manuver by flying out again, orienting himself for a clean shot straight through the hole in the roof of the base. He was planning on coming in at a diagonal however, and as such he was preparing himself over the ocean, where, unbeknownst to him, the torpedo might attept to do somthing to him. Dakoter A. on Mar. 24 2008,20:31 As Blitzkrieg wasn't hovering too far over the water's surface, the torpedo re-aligned itself, breaking through the surface just in front of the android. It couldn't reach him; however, as soon as it reached it's highest point, it detonated just below him. Blitzkrieg on Mar. 25 2008,08:22 The detonation beneath him blew Blitzkrieg upward, catching him completely by surprise and disorientating him for a moment. When he regained his balance, he quickly searched the water for any other little surprises, and finding none he reoriented himself on the hole in the roof. Ok, he thought, It's time to get the heck out of this little warzone. With that, he gunned his EX Gear and shot towards the hole at maximum speed, aimed perfectly to shoot cleanly inside. [to The Hallways, unless Dakoter intercepts me or somthing ]Dakoter A. on Mar. 27 2008,14:19 [Evasive maneuvers! You can topic switch if you want. xD] Waiting on the inside of the base were two lines of klagans, one on each side of the new opening. All were ready to catch the android dead in his tracks as he shot down the hall and underneath them. Blitzkrieg on Aug. 15 2008,13:50 [From Cross Country] Blitzkrieg finally reached the island. His first priority was to find a way in, so he immedietly began to circle the island about a quarter of a mile offshore, just as he had during his first "visit". While he was searching for an entrance, he still made sure to be careful of any opposition from the island's defenses. It wouldn't do to have taken all that time to repair only to have his chest blown out again. Eventually he noticed that the hole he had initially made was still there, giving him the perfect acess point. After all, he had committed the route between that praticular hallway and the War Room to memory, so it would make it all the easier to navigate through the massive base. However, instead of aligning himself to enter immedietly, as he had done before, he continuted to circle at the same distance, ensuring that the island's defenses had no other little surprises for him, like the torpedo the last time. (Someone tell me if the defenses aren't going to attack me. If not, I'll change this post so that I enter the base.) Dakoter A. on Aug. 22 2008,11:55 [Technically, the base's defenses would still try to destroy you. ;D S'what you get for not getting clearance the first time. Are ya up for another violent landing? xD] Blitzkrieg on Aug. 22 2008,17:41 [Ha, I'm ready this time. Bring it on!] Dakoter A. on Aug. 23 2008,14:03 [=P Fair Do's, *STREEETCH* It's been brungt!!!] Incapable of feeling the shame or determent of defeat, Robotnik Island's defenses stepped right back up for round two. As Blitzkrieg circle the island from afar, the base's defenses were already analyzing, recognizing the form and pulling up past data on the previous encounter. Turrets loaded with homing missiles rose slightly from the jumble of the base. Again, a volley of warning shots were the first ordnances sent in the android's directing. Blitzkrieg on Aug. 24 2008,14:33 Once again, Blitzkrieg was completely unphazed. He knew much better now what the island was capable of, but he wasn't afraid. In fact, he was more confident than before, because now that he knew more of what the island's defenses could do, he could more easily counteract them. Once again he stopped in place, already perfectly aligned with the hole in the roof, and he stood upon his Extreme Gear like nothing could hurt him. "Come on, we've already been through this," Blitz called tauntingly. "Just cut to the blowing a hole in yourself part, and this will go a lot smoother for all involved." Dakoter A. on Aug. 24 2008,19:31 [=P Cheeky] As if responding directly to the intruder's words, a volley of homing missiles were shot from their turrets, all slicing through the skies on their ways to Blitzkrieg. The ordinances' numbers were at about twenty; the android would really have to move if he wanted to escape them all. Blitzkrieg on Aug. 25 2008,18:59 Blitzkrieg smiled. He may have been showy towards the warning volley, but this was the real deal, and he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice. So, instead of doing a bunch of fancy, show-offy techniques, he merely took advantage of the missile's homing abilities. Quickly and effeciently he turned in place, pulling a perfect 180 in a fracton of a second. From there, he waited, his head looking over his shoulder, watching the progress of the missiles approaching him. He only had a few seconds to prepare, but in the supercomputer mind of an android, a few seconds could be a few minutes worth of thought, which gave Blitzkrieg plenty of time. He pulled out one of his ten silver grenades as the missiles came in, and primed it at just the right moment. Seconds later they were upon him, and he shot straight forward, away from the base, tossing the armed grenade behind him. Many of the missiles that had been homing on that one single point collided and exploded, and many more were caught up in both that explosion and the explosion of the grenade which went of exactly as Blitzkrieg timed, catching the majority of the surviving missiles just after the initial collision explosion faded, setting off another chain detonation that totalled all of the remaining missiles. Blitzkrieg turned back to the base and shot forward, in the hopes of getting through the hole in the roof before the base could pull any other tricks. No taunts, no poses, just straight to the chase. Dakoter A. on Aug. 28 2008,22:16 Round two wasn't over yet, as the base's systems quickly launched a second assault. This time, it's volley was much larger, the turrets quickly emptying as one. However, a pair of homing missiles were shot apart from the bunch, skidding across the turbulent water to arch upwards and strike from under their tenacious target. [Eheh.. you can proceed afterwards] Blitzkrieg on Sep. 02 2008,22:31 Blitz smiled once more as the second assault volley was fired. He still shot forward, right into the center of the massive wall of missiles, not stopping or turning or even slowing down until the last possible moment, at which point he turned down into a ninety-degree nose dive. The missiles coming from below arched up to meet him, but this was not much of a surprise to the calculating android, who nosed his EX Gear another ninety degrees to shoot of in the complete opposite direction he had origionally started from. From there it was a simple matter to jet off at max speed, first flying far out then arching around in a tremendously wide ark back to face the base. With himself now between the missiles and the island, Blitz had a clean run as he shot through the hole in the roof. Most of the missiles had collided together during the long chase as they had last time, and any left over merely impacted on the roof, further damaging it. I hope Robotnik doesn't hold that against me, Blitz thought with a half smile as he plunged once again into the depths of the island. [Now if we could just get Trigger and Iridix to do their jobs... to The Hallways] Dakoter A. on Sep. 03 2008,07:37 [=3 C'ya there.] |
