RE: Evacuation Fleet
[Hasty response sequence... GO!!!]

My ears stuck straight up in the air as Alpha's voice broke out over the radio. Remembering the switch Espio had hit to respond to the Swat-bot hail I flipped the glowing red switch. (Because, you know, that wasn't obvious)

"Alpha? Is that you? This is Chadin, I'm up in the lead ship with Jii and a couple other people I ran into."

RE: Evacuation Fleet
[I was hoping someone else would jump in. I would have felt lame just keeping the conversation with two people.]

Shazbot waved theatrically at the radio. "Good afternoon, this is your captain speaking! The weather is a balmy 87 degrees, and we are experiencing mild winds, making today a perfect day to go fly a kite! We will be arriving at our destination in approximately 1 hour, so please keep all arms, legs, tails, and other appendages inside the pod at all times. Please put your tray tables up, your seat-back in the full upright position, and thank you for flying Shaz-Air!"

RE: Evacuation Fleet
There was nearly a minute of radio silence before another reply came. " ... yeah. Anyway. Yeah, it's me, Chadin. I've got some good news and bad news. But it's good to hear that a friend is running this. How's everyone holding up on your end?"

RE: Evacuation Fleet
I let out a weary sigh and rubbed the bridge of my muzzle as I mentally prepared myself to hear the bad news Alpha warned about. "Apart from me being on the verge of passing out from blood loss, I think we're out of the woods. That big ship doesn't appear to be following us, and Robotnik seems to have scurried off too. I hate to ask, but what's the bad news?"

[Absence rule to move things along]

"That cyborg weirdo managed to scramble away once that crazy ship swooped in and nearly cooked us both. On top of that, he managed to grab a few Emerald fragments before he left. But on a brighter note, I grabbed one or two as well, and I found one tucked into one of my pockets for some reason. Hopefully one of the others nabbed some matching pieces, so we can put them together."

RE: Evacuation Fleet
Cyborg? Oh, right, that OTHER cyborg. The badger. Jeez, my life has gotten bizarre. To think, an adventure for me used to be hunting for pine nuts as a fawn.

Hearing that Robotnik's goon had gotten away with some emerald shards was certainly bad news. Still, we'd managed to get some away from Robotnik too, so that's a plus. Maybe the mission wasn't a total loss at least. "Yeah, we got some shards here too. We'll have to compare notes once we reach Solenna and see if we have enough to remake a whole emerald. Gerald warned me that combining shards into an incomplete emerald could be bad news. How are you holding up by the way?"

Alpha mentioning that he'd found a shard in his pocket for some reason reminded Chadin of their missing companion Espio. For that matter, what happened to Gail?

RE: Evacuation Fleet
[Sorry, been busy. I'm about to graduate and transfer to San Jose, California for advanced training. Life's been hectic, no chance to get online anymore.

Also, where'd the color buttons go?]

"Wait, time out, what's this about 'emerald shards'?" The entire ship listed dangerously to starboard as Shaz leaned in towards the radio. "You can't possibly mean Chaos Emeralds? Those things are indestructible at best, highly unstable at worst! Why, just the slightest chip could trigger a chain reaction strong enough to undo the fabric of... Wait, are you serious? There's ANOTHER cyborg running around out there?"

The ship stopped tilting as Shazbot sunk back into his chair. "Pfft. Figures. I can't even have ONE day hopping back in time and being totally original. Now I gotta find something else to shock the locals with..."

RE: Evacuation Fleet
"No, I mean my mother's emerald necklace. Of course the Chaos Emeralds! What else would be of such importance? Jeez..." If either could see him, they would notice the hedgehog shaking his head in disbelief. Of course, he didn't know how out of the loop Shaz was.

"I take it that's one of your new friends, Chadin. Anyway, I guess I'm okay. Kinda banged up, but nothing serious. I think, anyway."

RE: Evacuation Fleet
"Ugh... Shaz, try to focus on the big picture for a second, would you? Yes, the Chaos Emerald got blown up, that's what caused the dimensional merge in the first place." I explained, feeling short of patience myself considering all the insanity around me lately.

"Anyway, Alpha, we'll just have to deal with Robotnik later. Right now we need to get these civilians to Solenna. Can you see any Ship ID number on your ship Alpha? If so, maybe Shaz can bring your ship over to ours and you can jump ship. That was we can discuss the rest of this in person rather than over the radio."

RE: Evacuation Fleet
"Uh... Hang on, let me look..." Chadin and Shaz would hear some muttering as the hedgehog scanned over the ship's console and such, looking for the number. After a minute or two, he relayed the information to them.

"I'm gonna poke around and see if I can't find some bandages... maybe something for this pain... while you guys see about bringing me over."
