Hiding Out

RE: Hiding Out
Both spirits stopped their attack as Sly reached Kazuki. Orio looked the most fustrated but then he did seem more emotional than Seraph. Both knew their attacks would likely hit her if they attacked Sly. Had there been some higher cause in their actions they likely would have ignored the situation and continued...not because they were heartless, more because as spirits of the world they were obliged to serve a greater purpose than one person. That said, the goal right now was escape and that required Kazuki to be alive.

"Typical!" scoffed Orio, the small racoon looking incredibly sickened by the move. Rearing up and raising his tail to the sky a flurry of water bolts began to form around him but none of them fired. Instead he simply growled in Sly's direction.

Seraph just seemed to smile in Sly's direction, seemingly he had something more important on his mind...

...and due to his link with Tifa this was likely true. The injured spaniel was still lying on the ground although she was now awake. Having reached into the belt pouch around her waist her hands now held two items. One was a small tube with a fuse in the top, the other was a lighyter. Tifa had to admit that this worlds ability to create fire without magic was impressive...and certainly convenient.

Lighting the fuse and held it for a moment and then rolled as best she could onto her side. As she did she threw the tube in Sly's direction.

"Ajiryn...Kazuki...close you eyes now..." The message was sent to both of the foxes, Seraph once again hoping that neither would freak and simply obey. Meanwhile the chalk bomb hit the ground near Sly with a soft thud, the fuse just entering the tube.

RE: Hiding Out
Kazuki let out another cry, feeling Sly's overbearing presence. Out of panic, she latched on to his arm, tugging at it-

"L-l-let m-me GO!"

She felt a strange fury flow through her, and did the only thing she could- She bit down on his arm, clamping her jaws as firmly as she could. She picked up on the warning, and was taken aback by it; her mind blanked out.

"That sounds like- like- Fath-" Kazuki shook her head, her eyes already closed and streaming with tears.

RE: Hiding Out
[Invoking the absence rule]

"AAAH!" Sly screamed as Kazuki bit down into his knife arm...immediately tearing it out of her mouth and away from her neck. But then he heard the clink of the chalk bomb landing next to the two of them...and turned to face it. He did not know what it was exactly, but if it was a fuse, that likely meant it was about to explode. Time to get out of there then...in that case.

So, he released his free arm from Kazuki...and then gave her a push towards the chalk bomb with it. He was praying that she'd land on top of it, thus protecting him from the blast. And then he turned and started to run away. However...stopping to push her had cost him precious time. It looked like he'd be caught in the blast range. He'd just have to pray that whatever that tube was, it didn't contain anything lethal. Sly presumed it didn't, considering that spaniel had no problem throwing it right at both of them.

RE: Hiding Out
The chalk bomb went off with a crack as the casing disintigrated around it. The small explosive charge threw the chalk powder out into the air, filling the street with a thick cloud. Kazuki was caught with a brunt of the dust but thanks to her eyes being closed she'd likely just cough a little and be disorientated. Tifa had tucked her head into her arm after she'd thrown it, the dust washing over her and turning the back of her clothing completely white. As Ajiryn had been sliding away from Sly he would likely only be caught in the fringe of the blast. Same for Sly, the bomb didn't exactly have a huge range but he would likely get a dusting and irritation if he looked back or breathed any in.

Orio and Seraph seemed to be completely unaffected as the blast washed over them both. Orio though seemed to be fading quickly, his presence in the real world coming to an end. Still he had time left and decided to act.

The chalk cloud was now creating a rather nice smoke screen between Sly and his men and the would be heroes. It was starting to thin out a little but would still cause problems for anyone moving through it. Orio darted forward into the cloud, latching his teeth onto the back of Kazuki's collar and diving forwards away from Sly. Orio was, however, a little too energetic and Kazuki was definitely in for a rough ride as the raccoon spirit bounded away from the scene dragging her with him.

Seraph did the same, wrapping his tail around Tifa's chest just below her shoulders and lifting her from the ground as he followed Orio. Neither spirit spoke and Tifa just simply coughed as she was carried away with her eyes shut.

RE: Hiding Out
Ajiryn cursed as he streamed by Sly, and immediately dug his sword into the ground, trying to slow down. He scrambled back to his feet and charged forward, irked at the precious seconds he had just lost.

"Back off from her!" he growled. The fox's grip on his weapon was shaky, and even though he held it ready to fire, his eyes betrayed his fear. Kazuki was much too close for him to even think about getting a shot at Sly. "I swear, if you do anything..." He knew his threat was wasn't much, and an empty one at that.

It seemed as if everything was going for the worse, until the soft click of a chalk bomb drew his attention away from Sly- He didn't even need the voice to tell him to close his eyes- Or back off from it.

With a small cry of surprise, he tossed himself flat on the ground and had managed to wrap the bandanna over him mouth before it went off.

"Ack- I can't see any... thing...?" It just occurred to him that was the plan.

He ran blindly until he had managed to squint through the dust, catching sight of Kazuki being dragged away by Orio. With a small sigh a relief he cast a glance towards the smoke to make sure nobody was still after them, and satisfied that the attack had seemingly been interrupted with one well placed bomb, he hurried over to Kazuki.

RE: Hiding Out
Sly grumbled as the dust covered his body, while he sprinted away. Otherwise the heroes seemed to have let him go. Well, that suited him fine. He only wanted to get to Kazuki to turn their attention away from his mission, and it seemed to have worked in that case. Sly definitely wasn't planning on keeping her as a hostage after the mission was over. What good would it do? Her friends didn’t look wealthy, so he probably wouldn’t get much of a ransom out of them.

Soldiers arrived shortly thereafter, although they’d see the heroes had fled the scene. One of them spoke into a radio, “Mr. Sly…seems the do-gooders are gone. Over.”

Sly pulled the radio off his belt and talked back. “Well…that's okay. So long as we recoup our losses. Just keep an eye out for them and proceed with the mission as usual. Collect the dead and injured at the fight scene too. If the do-gooders cause any more problems, I’ll call for my own personal backup. Over.”

“Roger.”

RE: Hiding Out
Having made a good pace down the street, Orio took a series of turns to try and loose any potential followers and then stopped. Releasing Kazuki he turned to face a door, growled at it and let loose a large volley of water bolts causing the door to cave in. Pulling a large grin he turned, bit down on Kazuki's collar again and dragged her through the door...slowly this time.

As he stopped and released her collar the raccoon spirit gave a small shimmer, closed his eyes and then dispersed into a mist of fine glowing particles. A few moments later the mist vanished into mid air.

Seraph wasn't far behind, the dragon spirit now helping to support Tifa as she stumbled up the alley towards the open door. Her right leg was bleeding and it seemed she couldn't put any weight on it at all. The rest of her body was covered in small cuts, grazes and bruises and she certainly looked like hell.

Staggering through the door Seraph slowly lowered her down to the ground and then uncoiled himself from around her. Tifa gave a small cough and dusted a fine layer of chalk powder off her shoulder before looking down. Her ankle was broken for sure and the blood was coming from a piece of shrapnel imbedded in her thigh.

She looked up at Kazuki, noticing that Orio had now vanished. She may have been injured herself but right then she wasnted to help Kazuki more than anything. Still, she knew deep down that her skills in first aid would not likely be enough given the severity of her wounds.

RE: Hiding Out
"T-Tifa... You're okay...." Kazuki said through strained bits of speech. Her chest flared with pain, but strangely felt numb at the same time.

She let out a short sigh of relief. At least Tifa had made it... But what about-

"AJI!" She looked around wildly, and tried to stand up, but feel flat on the ground. "Ow... W-where is he?! Aji!" She dragged herself to the door frame, letting out a small cry as the pain stung her with every second.

RE: Hiding Out
Ajiryn dashed about, trying to keep up with the spirit, but eventually lost sight of the group. "Damn... That thing is fast..." "H-hey, wait up!"

He ran from one corner to the next, hoping to catch a glimpse of them. The fox had just about thought he'd seen the last of them when he came upon the shattered door frame- "There you are!" He shuddered at the sight of the two. "Tifa, how are you holdin' up??" There wasn't a need to ask Kaz- her injuries were well beyond his first-aid knowledge, and it showed in the lucid, concerned expression slapped across his face.

"...What a time to be without healing magic..."
