RE: Hiding Out
Ajiryn gave her a look that clearly said he wasn't convinced. However, it seemed she was uncomfortable at the moment. "Guess I should change the subject..."

Looking behind him, he saw that they had accidentally left the others behind. "Er... We should go back for Tifa and the others. Don't wanna get separated now, do we?" He gave Kazuki a quick wink, but was still a little disturbed about her situation.

RE: Hiding Out
Nearby, Kazuki and Ajiryn would hear the sound of several trucks approaching. But these didn't sound like any vehicles the invaders had. In fact, they sounded more like regular gasoline engines. Moments later, the large military-style trucks ground to a halt, and footsteps and shouting started sounding through the network of alleys and streets.

A cheetah leaped out of the cab of the lead truck, smiling at the devastation around them. Sly's organization was in desperate need of new supplies, and all this riff raff would be the perfect cover to do a little bit of looting. Men started making their way towards the shops that lined the various streets. Most of them focused their attention on food stores or stores that had weapons inside.

Those nearby would now hear the sound of breaking glass and gunshots...as the soldiers broke windows and fired their assault rifles to shoot the locks off doors. These people clearly were not the invaders at all...but a mysterious third party taking advantage of the situation for their own gain.

Would the others in the area try to stop them? Join them even, perhaps?

RE: Hiding Out
[God! Sorry for my complete lack of posting in this topic... *cough* >_> I've been busy... *neon sign above him read "Busy? Yeah right, more like you got addicted to WoW and forgot about posting you div!" -_-;;;;;]

"Wait for me! Gosh you walk quickly don't you!" Tifa was no jogging down the street towards them, Seraph wrapped securely round her neck once again. She had stopped momentarily to tend to the dragon spirit and had looked up to find herself alone...not something she had enjoyed.

She looked a little flustered but was still managing a smile, one that grew as she saw that Kazuki was awake again. "Oh I'm glad you're awake...I'm so sorry for Seraph's outburst back there." She came to rest next to them, resting her hands on her knees for a moment and giving a sigh.

As she did the sounds of the trucks sounded in her ears. She still found cars and trucks facinating even after 2 years here. The ability to make things move without using animals, incredible! On her own world it would have been called Magi-Tech but the art had long since been lost in the depths of time and few survived who knew it.

She was about to say something before the gunshots sounded along with the crashing and bashing that went with it. Tifa froze on the spot, not caring if it was friend or foe...she had a deep fear of these new weapons, the ability to kill from a range without using magic. It was something alien to her, reminding her very much of the forbidden realms of magic on her homeworld. It had been half the reason she had been hiding in the shop earlier.

Without thinking she spun and dived for cover, landing behind a pile of twisted metal and a smashed wall. She quickly curled herself up, hugging her knees to her chest as she pressed herself against the wall. She wished M was here more than anything.

RE: Hiding Out
"Yaaaaiiii!!! It's them!" Kazuki yelled out. "The Aliens are baaaaack!"" she cried out, diving towards Tifa.

"Uwaaaaa! I don't wanna die, go away! ...Eh? H-Hey! What are they-?!"

It didn't seem as though they were aliens. Just a bunch of looters. In Kazuki's eyes, it was in extreme bad karma to willingly break into a building during a time like this.

"What do you think you doing? HEY! YOU!" she shouted towards the various groups, stepping out to face them.

"Father always told me to stand up for what's right... And this definitely isn't right!" "Who do you think you are?!" She was heavily uncomforted by the presence of rifle- The concept had always made her uneasy. Who had the bright idea of creating a tool that could bring death and dissonance among the continent? It was an hateful object indeed.

She cast a glance back at Ajiryn, hoping he'd make a stand, too. It was awkward to ask him for his help- but she felt sure that he'd do it.

RE: Hiding Out
Ajiryn winced with every word she said. "K-Kaz... Stay away... We don't know what they want..." Now was a bad time to start something. As far as the group was concerned... There were three, compared to the unknown- but many- of these guys However...

"If I try to take them on, I'd surely lose. And I really don't have a reason to..." He thought it'd be hypocritical if he were to stop them from looting- "Hell, I just did that myself, earlier..."

"But I'm just one person. I do it to survive. These guys will clear out the entire block at this rate. And Kazuki..." He found himself searching her eyes for an answer. "What is it that you want me to do...?"

"I haven't done anything remotely 'heroic' during this whole 'invasion' business... I guess now's the time to catch up."

Stepping in front of Kazuki, he tried not to show his doubt and fear as he shouted: "Hey, ya creeps! Who do you think you are?!" He had Ares by his side, and loaded last time he checked- Ajiryn thought there was a good chance he'd be using it soon.

RE: Hiding Out
The first solider who heard them was a warthog, who nervously pointed his assault rifle at the two newcomers. He looked to be quite young to be holding that gun...maybe a 15 year old teenager or so. While the rifle trembled slightly, he couldn't help but think to himself.

They told me we wouldn't be killing anybody. I've never shot someone before... They only made me pick up this gun yesterday...

In any case, he spoke in a trembling voice. "Please...go away. I don't want to...shoot you." The last two words seemed to be very difficult for him to say. "We need this food...or we'll starve..." And that was the truth. The aliens had killed a lot of their people and destroyed a lot of their resources. The families in this organization would starve if they didn't get food fast.

Behind him...other soldiers were rapidly rushing back and forth...carrying boxes of food, ammunition, and other things into the trucks. More vehicles were doing the same thing on other streets.

In any case, a few grunts on the warthog's team had noticed the newcomers and were starting to wander over. But they didn't seem to be in a hurry, since the warthog had his gun pointed at them. Sly too had taken notice and followed them. He placed his hands on the handles of two large bowie knives sheathed on his belt.

RE: Hiding Out
[Sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry!]

Tifa had raised her head above her hiding spot now, peering out at the scene before her. She watched the warthog closely, she was expecting to see some tough punk ready for a fight but it seemed this one was quite the opposite. His pleas seemed genuine but she couldn't help but feel disgusted all the same. Surely there were other ways of getting aid than stealing it?

She stood, moving slowly up behind Kaz and Aji. She was cautious, she still hated guns and was tryin to make sure she had a clear hiding spot to jump into should things go bad. As she went she ducked her hand into the pouches nestled around her waist and drew out a small handle, it fitted in the palm of her hand and was hardly noticable.

"There's better ways than stealing..." she said as she approached, trying to look as unnervous as she could.

RE: Hiding Out
"Yeah!" Kazuki thrust her finger accusingly at the group. "This is kinda extreme for gathering supplies, don'cha think?! This seems all too rushed for it to be just for that."

"These guys don't strike me as legit at all..."

RE: Hiding Out
Ajiryn also took a step forward. "First of all, this is a bit grand for a supply run. There's better ways." Tifa and Kazuki were right- This didn't seem justified at all. It didn't help that Ajiryn felt a little more guilt due to hypocrisy.

"Secondly," He grabbed the end of the rifle and tilted it towards himself. "Don't even think about aiming that at her." Half of his mind applauded this; It was sure to score points with Kazuki, although he didn't really think of that; Ajiryn just didn't take kindly towards any signs of harm to his friends. The other half of his mind screamed "What the hell are you DOING? Do you WANT to get SHOT?"

"Third-" he continued, trying to sound as least unnerved as he actually was. "We mean no harm. If you need food that badly, you could've at least let a third party know, for assistance, and perhaps even legal support."

"I don't wanna attack anybody- not yet, at least. Let's see where this goes." he thought.

"And lastly- Your safety is still on."

RE: Hiding Out
But while Ajiryn was trying to look tough, the other few grunts who'd wandered over raised up their rifles too. Meanwhile, the cheetah just stood in the back. Rather than let the kid warthog speak, he decided to take over their side of the conversation. Sly took on a pleading tone, similar to what the boy had done.

"It doesn't matter if it's legit or not. If we don't get food right now, children like this boy here..." he pointed at the warthog. "...are going to starve. Surely you don't want that on your conscience, do you?"

That actually was the truth, which made it quite easy to feign desperation.

"Besides...this town's been overrun with those aliens. If we don't take what's left here, the aliens will seize it instead. And I don't think there's enough of you here to defend a Kroger supermarket from them or us. So either way this food is going to get stolen. At least we are both enemies of the aliens, no?"
