RE: DnD-style roleplay!
"Don't worry, I don't take offense." Eric smiled at Chadin's remark, as he briefly turned to the window. "You're not the first people who've made those veiled statements about him. I'm trying to get him to learn some proper manners, but well... It's hard for him to feel like he needs to look at anyone else as an equal considering what he's grown up with. Why, I don't think he even knows what its like for the human race to look down on him."
"That's...that's incredible." Augustine's eyes widened at that thought. All his life he'd had to fit in with the humans, but the people here had the luxury of never needing to mix with them at all. The thought of that sounded majestic. Quote:"I trust Geoffrey is taking good care of you then?" "Oh yes, excellent. It was worth the wait to get a human doctor here." Meanwhile, Geoffrey was busy mixing something in a bowl off to the side. He took a little of this and a little of that from various small jars, and smashed everything together into a fine powder. Augustine thought he saw a couple things like leaves and whatnot. At the very end, Geoffrey took a very small vial out of his cloak. It was about as big around as a pencil and only about ten centimeters long. After putting in a few droplets, he mixed the powder into water and gave it to Eric. "One last medicine for now, sir." "Thank you Geoffrey." Eric gulped it down quickly, and then started to cough. Augustine didn't think much of the coughing...but then Eric didn't stop coughing. In fact, Eric advanced to violently hacking. He looked like he might start vomiting, in fact. Geoffrey's face went pale. "Oh no! That wasn't supposed to happen!" He quickly turned back to his mixing kit, apparently to make some kind of antidote. Augustine rushed forward to get next to the bed, although he wasn't a doctor. He honestly didn't know what to do, as he watched Eric cough violently. |

"Geoffrey, what's wrong with him?" Chadin rushed forward. He was tempted to try the Heimlich maneuver, but he couldn't even be sure that Eric was choking on the concoction or if he was reacting to something all together different.
"What did you give him?" Asking wouldn't have helped anyway. Chadin knew next to nothing about herbal medicine. Sure, he knew how to stave off scurvy with tree bark and a how to make a poultice to keep out an infection, but what Geoffrey had been doing was far beyond his limited skills. |

RE: DnD-style roleplay!
As the three of them watched, Eric shut his eyes let out a scream that pierced Nail's ears. He winced and stepped backwards, his ears rotating away in protest to the sound.
Meanwhile, something most peculiar started happening to Eric. The beaver teeth shrunk. His muzzle flattened into his face. Fur fell right off of his body and exposed naked skin, although the fur on top of the head remained. His ears on the top of his head started to flow down to the sides and enlarge into a tear drop shape. "No...way..." Augustine muttered, over the screaming. "I think...I think he's turning human!" The transformation must have been extremely painful, if he was screaming that much. Augustine looked over at Geoffrey, wondering what all this meant. What the hell did Geoffrey just give him? For his part though, the doctor appeared to look equally confused. |

Chadin especially found Eric's ear-piercing screaming thoroughly intolerable as he clapped his hands over his large, spaded ears. As the transformation progressed, Chadin watched in amazement as Augustine seemed to nail the point home. Eric truly was turning human.
"Ho... How is this possible...?" |

RE: DnD-style roleplay!
By this time, Eric completed his transformation. It felt like a dream, as a brown-haired human flecked with gray hairs lay in bed where a beaver used to be. The transformation appeared to have taken a lot out of Eric, as he simply laid in the bed with his eyes closed. Aside from his chest rising up and down, the now-human Eric did not move.
Augustine looked between Eric and Geoffrey, wondering if something Geoffrey used would have caused the transformation. But he didn't have long to ponder, as the three of them would hear pounding footsteps in the hallway outside. The twin doors burst open, with Gordon taking the forefront and flanked by several guards. All of them had their swords out. Gordon took one look at Eric and probably would have gone white were it not for his fur. And then he looked at the two travelers and the human, eyebrows hardening into a fine point together. "You....you three! What did you do to my father?!" |

Chadin, still amazed by what he saw, glanced back and forth between the human on the bed, the human standing beside the bed, and then to the clearly peeved off beaver. While a more sensitive and diplomatic answer might have been the wiser choice, Chadin's brain had presently shut-off along with his sense of disbelief.
"Would you believe us if we said he changed right in front of our eyes?" he shrugged helplessly with a sheepish grin. |

If looks could kill, Chadin would be a pile of ash right now with Gordon's death glare. Waving his finger around, he shouted, "ARREST THEM! ALL OF THEM!"
Waving their swords around, the guards flanking Gordon rapidly moved into the room. "Wait! Wait! We don't know what happened!" Of course, it didn't convince any of the guards at all. Augustine didn't raise his weapon as he got surrounded by three guards all pointing their swords at him. Geoffrey got a similar treatment with two other guards. Meanwhile, several more guards advanced to corral Chadin as well. |

This time, Chadin wasn't about to fight back this time, as he rolled his eyes in dismay. Considering that the beaver, now human, was supposed to be the one to pay them, fighting his way out of their custody hardly seemed like such a smart idea. Besides which: "And here I was looking forward to to finally relaxing and going to sleep." He muttered with bitter sarcasm as he raised his hands in surrender.

RE: DnD-style roleplay!
As Augustine got his hands bound with rope, he looked around frantically. He couldn't believe he was about to say this, but...
"Chadin's telling the truth! He turned into a human right before our eyes! We didn't do anything!" Even in his own head, it sounded really stupid to be saying that. Gordon shook his head, not believing the nonsense these two were muttering. "Wait!" Geoffrey stepped forward, suddenly stopping everyone in their tracks. He looked at a bottle in his hands, then looked upwards again with a very pained expression on his face. "Please don't arrest these gentlemen. They didn't do anything. I was the one who was treating him, after all. If you're going to arrest anyone, please arrest me and let the other two go." "Geoffrey!" Augustine tried to push forward to him, but was quickly stopped. "What are you doing? They're going to kill you!" "I knew I was taking a risk coming here, being what I am." He waved at himself. "At least you two may get a chance to go free. There's no sense in all of us being punished for something that I did wrong." He looked over at Gordon. "Please sir, let these two go. They've done nothing." Gordon looked between Augustine and Chadin, then back at Geoffrey. He stared off in thought, mulling it over. For a few moments, there was a pained silence. Gordon suddenly snapped his vision back at Geoffrey. "Very well. What you've done here is quite admirable, but you're still a filthy human in my eyes. Take him to the tpwn jail, you two." He waved at all the soldiers to bound Geoffrey and herd him out of the room. |
