<Name>
Corona Lumen

<Alias>
Corona, Master Lumen

<Age>

42

<Sex>

Male

<Species>
Fox (Hokkaido)

<Home Universe>

Dominaria

<Alignment>
Neutral

<Appearance>
Corona has orange fur over most his body, with white on his belly and black on the outer tips of his ears. His eyes are an emerald green, bright and inquisitive, while radiating knowledge. On top of his head sits a patch of short, black hair, usually left disheveled. He’s of thin, lanky build, lean and not under-weight. His usual top is robe-like, with loose sleeves and a v-neck, though the similarity ends at the waist, where a belt leads down to a pair of baggy pants, which close snugly ‘round his ankles. Both the top and pants are a Sonic-esque blue. The neck of his shirt as well as his belt are both white. The fox holds himself straight, though that’s merely a matter of posture. He appears relaxed in most situations, in control.

<Personality>
Corona is generally calm, controlled, and relaxed. He is generally confident and focused. He can get quite excitable whenever he discovers something new, even going so far as to totally ignore all else for the sake new object of his attention. He can also be absent-minded about things he deems less important than his work, especially when he’s focused. He also loves to teach, but can get rather frustrated when his students don’t learn quickly enough for his tastes.
While usually a sympathetic figure, Corona may often, especially at first, view events on Mobius simply as a third party, which is to say he won’t take either side. If either side has something he wants, however, he won’t hesitate to go after it.

<Relations>
None. Parents deceased of old age. No siblings.

<Biography>
Corona started life in a family of simple means. They lived in the small village of Cros in the northern provinces of Benalia on the plane of Dominaria. Though they were always quite happy as farmers, their village was raided almost regularly by passing thieves, monsters, or just the local wildlife. Thus Corona grew up with a desire for a way to protect his village. When he was ten years old, Corona got his wish. A band of thieves was attempting to set fire to a local bar. Finally fed up with it, when Corona ran out with a pitchfork and yelled for them to go away, the fire leapt from their torches and onto their clothes! Screaming in fright, the robbers put themselves out and ran for their lives!

After all the celebrations of this small victory, it was quickly decided that Corona should learn to use his newfound powers. Corona was quickly sent away to the Tolarian Academy, an entire island complex built for the sole purpose of learning and studying magic. With his innate curiosity and intelligence, Corona quickly progressed up the ranks of students, gaining scholarships and grants and accolades along the way.

Upon his eventual graduation, top of his class of course, Corona stayed on as a researcher. His work earned him quite a bit of money, quite a lot of which he sent home, creating what is now a quite safe little village.

However, with curiosity as insatiable as Corona’s one can only spend so long in one place before one gets bored. It is traditional at Tolaria that alumni of a certain level branch off and create their own schools. But not on Dominaria, of course. They have Tolaria already. So they find another world which could do with some study. Mobius in particular is quite the attractive prospect, especially with the power of 2 sets of emeralds on top of its normal mana supply. And this is why Corona Lumen now arrives on Mobius, ready to set up shop somewhere and explore!

<Equipment>
Runestaff – A staff of fine oak, polished and carved with a number of strange runes, marking status and achievement at his former university. While perfectly useful for walking or smacking people with, Corona uses his staff especially as a mana battery, holding an extra 50 mana. It is worthy of note that as the mana within his staff is drawn from Mobius, it is charged with the energy of the emeralds. Thus, if anyone else holding the staff knew how to use it, they could drain all mana in the staff for the purpose of a CS attack.

Bag of Holding – A small pouch Corona keeps at his belt for holding anything he might need on hand. Its inside is larger than its outside dimensions. The bag can hold up to 250lbs worth of objects and never increase in weight and up to a volume of 30cubic-feet, without increasing in size. Nothing larger than 3 feet in diameter will fit in the bag.

<Mana System>
As complex and dizzying as the energies of the universe are, we must simplify things for the purposes of a game universe. To that effect, Corona casts his spells using a certain amount of energy, henceforth called mana, collected from his surroundings.
Mana Max Total: 100
Mana recharges by 5/turn not used when it is relevant.

<Moves/Combat Style>
Corona would rather not fight if he doesn’t have to. But if he must, his Magic is quite varied and useful. It is in the fox’s nature to be as efficient as possible. So he will do whatever is easiest for achieving his objective (usually getting out of the fight). While he is competent in physical combat, even with his staff, he is likely to be overpowered by most fighters in close quarters. So he relies on his spells to keep them away and attack from a distance.

<Manipulate Objects>
Move objects as if a psychic with telekinesis. Can move 1 object of 200lbs or less, 10ft per post in combat. For 201 to 400lbs, 5ft per post. Anything larger probably isn’t getting moved (not in combat, anyway). If the object is already moving, he can’t pull it back the other way, but he could turn it or halt it. Similarly, several tiny objects may be manipulated as if one. For example, if he has a box of screws, he could line them all up and screw them together as one action.
Mana Cost: 1 for anything that could be held in hand, 5 for anything up to 200lbs, 10 for 201 to 400lbs,

<Manipulate Elements>
This functions as Manipulate Objects, but on a more fundamental level. This cannot create fire, but it can move the fire from that torch over there to your face. This can function on an amount of the element within the space of 10cubic-feet per post. In this way, the element can be moved, conducted, condensed or shaped.
Elements movable this way are fire, water, earth, and air.
Mana Cost: 10

<Animate>
A wizard needs assistants, of course. With this spell, Corona gives a level of semi-sentience to an object. That will (probably) obey orders given to it by him. If cast on a collection of an element (via Manipulate elements) an elemental is created.
Just because an animated object gains sentience does not mean it can necessarily talk or move. If used, for example, on a block, the block is still a block and cannot move on its own.
In combat, this takes 2 undisturbed posts to casts.
Mana Cost: 20

<Counterspell>
Corona arrests control of a ranged elemental attack, severing any magical links from its controller and halting it before it can hit him. If he so chooses, he may immediately cast Manipulate Elements to send the exact same attack back at its owner. If he does not, the energy simply dissipates (in a manner that amuses me the most at the time of casting).
In order to use this ability, Corona must not have cast a spell or attacked the previous turn and must be paying attention to the one who sends the attack. A Counterspell that only negated an attack does not hinder his ability to counter the next turn.
Mana Cost: 10

<CS Move: Creation>
True Magic. While active, Corona can create and manipulate (and animate, if he so chooses) 20cubic-feet of an element per post.
1 full post to charge. Active for 3 posts thereafter.
Mana Cost: 50

<Skills>
Archmage – Corona is a graduate of the Tolarian Academy on Dominaria. As such, he is well versed in most schools of magic and is qualified to teach others in the arts.

Cantrips – Being an archmage, Corona can create small magical effects almost for free. These range from creating a light, cleaning objects, and warming/flavoring food, to making a noise around the corner, fixing uncomplicated broken things, and leaving his mark on a wall. These effects can in no way harm or damage anyone (though distraction is not out of the question).
Mana Cost: 1

Fly – Simple enough. He lifts himself up in the air, moving up to 15 mph in combat. In open air, over long distances, speed can increase to 60 mph, making it about as convenient as a car. If hit, he will lose his concentration and fall. Spells can be cast while flying, but he cannot move and cast if doing so.
1 post to cast and begin moving. This first move can only be about 10ft, similar to simply a powerful jump.
Mana Cost: 5/hr

Teleport
– As it reads, teleports the target anywhere. When casting, he must know exactly where he is going or risk appearing inside a wall or somewhere equally dangerous. As such, he cannot teleport into or out of a building, as the precision necessary isn’t worth the risk of becoming a wall ornament.
3 posts to cast in combat. Must be undisturbed.
Mana Cost: 20

<Strengths>
+ Magic
+ Highly Intelligent

<Weaknesses>
- Absent-Minded

- Physically fairly weak

- Technology
Corona isn’t particularly good with technology, simply for lack of experience.
