RE: Living in the City
((Now I'm confused. Could someone please give us a recap on the posting order? And Jodie, it's... never mind.))
So that's the guy that shot at them before? Hmm... After touching down right behind the archer, Huu transformed back to his neutral form, then folded his arms and stood in place. "You're not half bad with that gadget, are you?" |

RE: Living in the City
Kids? Kids!
In my panicked state, I had nearly forgotten about Cutter's pups. But then, that kind of what happens when you nearly get an arrow embedded into your skull. I hesitated, my mind fluttered through a wave of options before being ripped back into reality by a second arrow whistling past over my quills. An eruption rippled from its impact, causing me to jump. "Me? I didn't do anything!" I nipped my lip and shook my head. The longer I stalled, the likelier the chance that I wouldn't be going home today. "Fire escape. Right. I'm on it! I'll head over there right away." I tried to keep my voice down. With a weapon like that, I doubt the sniper could be far from our position. Better to not give away our plans. Fessing up a confident smile to the kids, I whispered, "Don't worry, you two. Your mom knows what she's doing. She'll keep you safe." It felt kind of unnecessary to say that, but I just didn't want them second guessing already. Without a second thought, I followed close to the body of the car until I was as close to the opposing wall as I could possibly be. With a quick dive, I met the building where I assumed the sniper would be and swiftly but carefully found my way towards the prior mentioned fire escape. With Tutley and Jack already on the case though, I didn't think I would have too much trouble getting up there. |

RE: Living in the City
"Good luck!!" I whispered to Amy as she ran off across the street. I heard a few more whistling sounds of arrows flying, but as far as I could tell they were no longer targeting my area. That was a relief. "Kids, over here!" Sara came running, tears of fright in her eyes. Josh looked equally scared, but he seemed to be fairing better then my daughter. Guess, it just runs in the family. Now all I could do was hope Amy and the rest would be alright.
A turtle emerged from behind the row of cars riding a flight board of some sort. Never was much for that fancy tech, and he wasn't my target anyways. I did see him approaching my building and somehow was even climbing up the side like a monkey. No doubt about it, he was coming up here to stop me. That made him an obstacle, and I was to not let any obstacles stop me. But he would take some time to reach me climbing the building like that so he was no significant threat yet. That's when I saw the pink hedgehog break from cover, running towards my building. I switched my crossbow into its semi-automatic mode and fired off a quick couple of shots off at her, hoping to either wound her for a final shot, or with any luck maybe even take her down out right. That's about when my ear's twitched with a life of their own, alerting me to a strange sound behind me before hearing an unknown voice. Quote:"You're not half bad with that gadget, are you?" I was surprised for certain, but he didn't sound threatening, maybe the person merely wanted to try and unnerve me. A quick glance revealed the familiar figure of that person who'd thrown the glass at the brown balloon hedgehog before. "Yes, I am." I said cooly, not taking my eyes off the street below. "What's it to you?" I didn't know what this guy wanted, he might be trying to help the hedgehog, he might even be wanting to help me, but I couldn't let him distract me. |

RE: Living in the City
((I'm not... entirely sure whose turn it is anymore. So I'm just going.))
"I think I see an old fire escape in that alley across the road. You ought to be able to flank him if you-" Jack couldn't help but let out a yelp as this second arrow planted itself in their makeshift cover, blowing out windows and setting off alarms. The rush of wind ruffled Jacks fur, nearly bowling him over from the force. His response, muttered under his breath, is best untyped. "Uh...Jack?" Jack remained still, though green eyes focused onto Tutley as he awaited the turtles statement. "Anyway...try to float up the side of the building while I distract the sniper." Okay... Given how shakily the turtle addressed him, Jack found what he had to say a little odd. But, he saw it as just being nerves from having someone out to kill him, the hedgehog regained focus. "I like that plan, Tut." Jack said to confirm Tuts request. He gave the remaining group a smirk, punching into his hand in excitement. "I get to have the fun job." What followed was a rather... intense across the street. Sure, nothing was happening just yet, but at any moment, another arrow could have meant the end of him. In the distance he could hear more shots being fired, but he didn't know who they were for. He could only hope they didn't reach their target. Jack rolled into the alley beside the building. On instinct, he pressed himself against the wall when his feet touched ground, gasping for breath... which he continued even after he was no longer winded. His body squeaked humorously as, again, his body started to slowly expand. With one last, drawn out, relaxing breath, the spiky balloon felt his feet slowly lose their grip on the ground. Higher and higher the hedgehog floated, careful not to bump against anything that would make noise during his ascent, until the roof of the building was mere inches above him. His target was visible now, and all Jack had to do was get himself deflated enough to engage the sniper. He just had to hope the furry weather balloon wasn't spotted too soon... |

RE: Living in the City
((That means it's my turn now. Here goes.))
Before Huu could respond, he noticed that Tutley had arrived at their level, ready to crash the party. "Aw, company already? How about that? (He rubbed one finger against the buck's neck for some reason.) You take the turtle; I'll keep lookout in case he called for backup." That said, Huu stood two or three feet away from the buck, facing away, and Mirrored himself into a replica of him, crossbow at the ready. |

RE: Living in the City
Tutley kept his arms held out to his side, leaning fowards as he shot past the top floor, continueing up into the sky above him. Ten feet past the roof, he stepped on a switch on his board, reverting it back to its backpack form, straps latching back onto him. He quickly looked down, and got a view of his target which actually was a pair of targets. "This could get tricky...", he muttered to himself.
As his grin went to a serious, focused look, he decided to ask questions later and dove stright at the one faceing the building. He held his hammer over his shoulders and swung at the ground ahead of the buck, claws stopping just out of the attacker's range, tearing up part of the floor where it landed. Tutley pulled his hammer up, and charged at the foe, attempting to tackle him. Everyone's favorite hyperactive turtle from the future! Current Shield Set: Blast, Fire, Water, Lightning, Light |

RE: Living in the City
[Oh gods. Sorry for the long wait! I'm here now! XD;]
Good luck, I thought. I'd need more than that! Arrows whizzed by me as I made it across to the other side. I guess he was gauging to hit me with at least one. And without saying, one did. Planted right in my right shoulder. My shrill scream almost echoed down the street. I almost wondered why our ridiculous police force never seemed to be around when we needed them. I guess they figured these situations were what Sonic was for now. I really didn't know and I didn't care much either as I hit the wall and just hugged it for a while as my hand clamped to my wound. The arrow's shaft seemed like a good place to start. I'd never been shot before by such an ancient weapon, but whose to say I never saw someone that did in the movies? I snapped it off and then just stood there and took a breather for a moment. It looked like my no-screaming-record wasn't going to happen this time. But, oh, did that hurt! Finally gathering my wits, I made it to the fire escape and began climbing it, careful to duck well out of sight. As much as I wanted to yell "Medic", something had to be done about this crazy guy shooting at us in broad daylight. In the city, no less! Why was he after me anyway? |
