RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Chadin - 12-30-2012 07:11 AM With all the screaming, I couldn't tell for certain where the creature's were, but it sounded slightly muffled, like it was all coming from outside. I couldn't be sure, but I pressed forward steadily, scanning the room slowly for any sign of movement. "Come on, we can't slow down now. The others might be half way to Robotnik's base by now. I urged, trying my hardest to quell the nervous tremor in my voice. "Besides, if we see another one of those things, we know where to hit it." RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Jijeka-Te - 12-30-2012 08:15 PM Ji peered through the door, but couldn't see a thing. She could only gather what the situation was like from Gail and Chadin. Anu stayed behind her. (Ji) "We should just run through. After how much grief the first one gave us, we probably shouldn't try to fight them all." RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Gail Strafer - 12-31-2012 12:14 PM When the other two said they needed to hurry, Gail almost felt like slapping one of them. Screw getting to the main base. He just wanted to go back to the village at this point. He didn't sign on to get chased around in the dark by these monsters. However, his pride did not allow him to say this. "...I guess...ya'll are right. I jus' hope we really don't run into a whole pack of them. One isn't so bad, but I can't imagine fifty." Gail urged his feet forward by willpower. Each step felt like an effort, as his mind screamed for him to just find somewhere to hide. The shrieks were not only frightening, but making it hard to think coherently. However, one clarifying thought emerged from his mind that helped bring him back to earth. Maybe I should just run... Goin' too slow is givin' me too much time to have seconds thoughts. "Okay...I'm double timin' it! Come on guys!" And with that, he took off at a full sprint towards the window. He sidestepped and jumped over loose boxes scattered across the floor, with his night vision allowing him to spot them before tripping. But this time, instead of getting tunnel vision as he rushed for the window, he briefly turned around to see if the other two were with him. RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Chadin - 01-02-2013 12:05 PM "Gail! Wait!" When I said we had to keep moving, I didn't mean run blindly! Oh well, he'd already taken off. I looked back over my shoulder and noticed that Jii and Anu seemed to be having difficulty in the darkness. When you are simply born with something like night vision, it's easy to forget other's might not. I reached back and tried to grab Jii's hand. "Jii, Anu, link hands and I'll lead you though her. We have to keep up with Gail." Assuming they did so, I'd try to lead them through the warehouse towards the window as quickly as I could. RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Jijeka-Te - 01-03-2013 09:37 PM With few options, Ji took Chadin's hand, and Anu took Ji's. The next thing they knew, they were being almost dragged through the dark area. They both remained silent, but for a moment Ji considered the possibility of holding on to a length of string so she could be flown like a kite. Not that she had one handy. RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Gail Strafer - 01-04-2013 11:30 AM Gail would have made a frustrated growl as Chadin called out, but being in the middle of this dark warehouse with those creatures all around the building sure made him too afraid to get angry. Not to mention he didn't want to fight any of them by himself. Immediately he slowed down to wait for them, despite his anxiousness to quickly cross the dark space. "But...Chadin... You said we needed ta move fast. That's what I did!" They were close enough now to see the outside through the window. In the street beyond, a multitude of the creatures could be seen swirling past. Curiuosly though, not one of them came into the building. They all seemed to be singularly focused on going to one place for some reason. RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Chadin - 01-06-2013 02:40 PM "Right, fast, not reckless." I clarified as we caught up to Gail by the window. "In a place like this, an attack could from anywhere at any time. The key is to keep moving, while keeping your eyes and ears open and your head on a swivel. Come to think of it... we should have seen something else by now. A Swat-bot, a Spy-Eye, even a maintenance bot or two." But my curiosity seemed to answer itself once I looked out the window itself. "Oh... guess we know what happened to all of them then, huh?" As they went by I took notice of how they complete ignored everything else and seemed to all be heading in the same direction. My first instinct was that they were trying to escape something, like rats from a sinking ship. Yet they didn't appear panicked... more, focused, obsessed even. And as I peered up into the sky from the window, it almost looked like the storm above was swirling, with the epicenter down the street towards Robotnik's HQ. The same place all the creatures were heading. Now I KNEW something was up, and those creatures were at the heart of it all. "Come on, those things are heading towards Robotnik's HQ building, so that's where we're going." I declared as I pushed the window open and, making sure the coast was clear first and jumped down to the street below. I intended from there to slink along through the shadows until I reached the many street surrounding the HQ and figure out what to do from there. RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Jijeka-Te - 01-07-2013 10:28 PM Ji and Anu somehow managed to wind up through the window after Chadin. Instead of going for the shadows, they hid at a higher perch. (Anu) "After all the grief the one creature gave us, we're going to the same place the rest of them are? Are you sure that's wise?" (Ji) "We'll be fine, Anu." RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Gail Strafer - 01-08-2013 10:53 AM Gail breathed a sigh of disappointment, as once again he'd done something to annoy Chadin. Seemed he couldn't do anything right. Overall Gail was starting to think of himself as nothing but a big ol' dumb lunkhead. He too took a look out the window, and couldn't help but jump back into the shadows. It truly was too terrifying to look at, with his fear overriding his pride briefly. However, Gail forced himself to take one more look, this time tensing himself for it. A whole black horde of the creatures. And it wasn't just snakes, but all kinds of monsters too. Their blackness obscured the entire street, except for their twinkling crystals. It looked like a starry night sky, but in beautiful colors. What a shame that starry sky could be so hostile. Gail's ears briefly rotated around, focusing on the direction the creatures were headed. He could have sworn that he heard some faint screaming in the distance. And it wasn't one of the creatures. Rather, it sounded almost human. However, he wasn't sure if he heard it or not, given all the noise the monsters made already. Gathering up his bravery again, Gail jumped through the window and quickly moved to hide in the shadows with Chadin. This time, he intended to just let the deer take point and copy his movements. Given that most of Robotropolis' streets had plenty of trash, debris piles, and barricades, there were ample places to hide as they moved down the street. As they moved along, Gail quietly whispered something to Chadin. "Ya know, maybe when this is over, you should put me in Freedom Fightin' school or somethin' like that. I'd really like to learn more about how ya'll know how to do all this sneaky stuff." He'd been thinking about it the more he'd observed the deer. Sure, all of the criticism was annoying or even downright hurtful but Chadin clearly knew what he was doing and Gail wanted to be more like that. RE: Swatpod Refueling Hangar- 7S - Chadin - 01-08-2013 03:15 PM My ears too perked up as I heard screams from further down the street. Eerily familiar screams. Screams I hadn't heard since... No, it couldn't be, I assured myself. He couldn't still be alive. I SAW his bloody, lifeless arm sticking out from the wreckage of his egg pod. The fur on my neck started to stand up on end. "Ya know, maybe when this is over, you should put me in Freedom Fightin' school or somethin' like that. I'd really like to learn more about how ya'll know how to do all this sneaky stuff." "Pfft, no offense, Gail, but I don't think I'm the right person to be training anyone." I replied in a hushed voice, pausing beside some debris near an alley intersection. I glanced around the corner both ways to see if any creatures or bots were in either direction before making a beeline through the intersection and quickly took up another hiding spot on the other side. "Everything I learned about being a Freedom Fighter I did while right in the thick of it. Sure, I learned some basic skills when we had some down time, but everything else I learned on the fly. Every mistake I made cost me dearly. Hence why I'm not so keen to trust anyone anymore. If you want to learn from anyone, I think Espio might be a better bet. He looks like he's had actual formal training." Suddenly, a resounding thud echoed through the streets, causing my own ears to shoot straight up in alarm. "That didn't sound good..." |
