Prelude to Infiltration, the path to Robotropolis. - Espio - 08-06-2012 05:37 AM It was about a hour or two after the breakfast meeting had concluded, and after Espio debriefed the others on the basis of the mission. Using a two stage infiltration, the group would move into Robotropolis, find the location of the emerald shards, seize them and immediatly move out of the area with the cargo in tow. They wouldn't be able to plan where to go though, as even the village spies had limited maps of the city post reconstruction. Espio was piloting the swatpod with several of the others sitting in the back. The passenger seat was empty at the moment, giving the ninja time to clear his head. He sighed as he looked to the controls, seeing a speedboat following behind them starting to pull back from them. That was the second wave of reinforcements that would move in after the initial group makes it into the city. The engines whirred louder as the aircraft accelerated, on its way into the iron city. RE: Prelude to Infiltration, the path to Robotropolis. - Chadin - 08-07-2012 08:17 AM Ugh... I can't believe I got talked into this... I mentally groaned to myself in the back seat. After getting some proper rest and food into me my disposition had improved considerably. Though, being away from Gerald certainly didn't hurt either. I still didn't overly trust my new companions but for now, their interest in getting the emerald shards away from Robotnik was in keeping with my own, so I could go along with the plan. What would happen to them after that could be dealt with later, and hopefully in a peaceful manner. In a way I was actually excited. It was a like a throwback to the good old days with the entire MFF and some wild, audacious plan. But that train of thought only served to remind me that these people most certainly were not the same people I once knew and trusted, and that Trust itself is a far more precious commodity now than when I was younger. But aside from my own trust issues, I just had lingering doubts hanging over my head about this motley crew in general. I knew Gail could fight well enough, but he seemed far to eager and reckless for this sort of work. A high risk mission like this is no place to beat that sort of youthful inexperience into place. He actually reminded me of... well, myself when I first started out. Boy did I learn the hard way how wrong I was. As for Espio well... He's a complete cypher to me. I never saw him in action back at the Launch Base Zone and he hardly said anything so I literally had no idea what he can or can't do. Heck, I still didn't even know what a Ninja was and what about them made Gail squeal like a fan girl. As for the others well... I just didn't know anything about them. Come to think of it, none of them know anything about me either. Well, except maybe that I can shoot electricity out of me when I get mad enough. I doubt anyone in that village doesn't know about that by now. Still, it won't help anyone if they don't know what the others are capable of. I haven't exactly been all too forthcoming myself, so it might not hurt to help bridge the gap while on the trip to Robotropolis. At the very least I can at least stop stumbling around in obliviousness. "So... you're a ninja, huh?" I regarded Espio in the pilots seat with a weak smile, trying to break the uneasy tension in the room, or cockpit or whatever. "What exactly IS a ninja?" RE: Prelude to Infiltration, the path to Robotropolis. - Nail Strafer - 08-08-2012 10:20 AM [How about we make the posting order Espio, Chadin, Alpha, Whip, Ji, and Gail?] RE: Prelude to Infiltration, the path to Robotropolis. - Alpha Omega - 08-09-2012 04:03 PM Sitting in the back seat, Omega looked around at his companions occasionally, but for the most part he stared at the three rings he was wearing, trying to gauge the power they had left. He was being quiet for the time, as Whip was the only person on board that he knew. RE: Prelude to Infiltration, the path to Robotropolis. - Whip the Rabbit - 08-10-2012 01:28 AM Whip sat with his back to the pilot's seat. Dejectedly. His arms crossed, legs crossed, and with an expression that could give you the impression that he wasn't just saved from almost certain-death by a squadron sent by his idol. Except that was what bothered him. His idol. His model. The one person he respected the most of anybody he knew. He knew from the moment he saw him, the chameleon that was currently piloting the pod, the one whom had apparently sent the rescue team for him, was definitely the same person he remembered so fondly in his past. Without a doubt, it was certainly Espio. Whip was sure of it, and yet for one reason or another, he had been treated as another stranger, as if they'd never met in their lives. "...Well..." Whip stubbornly pushed away his better senses. So what if it'd been a mere week, almost a decade ago? That was one of the most important seven-day-periods in the young rabbit's life! His fighting style, his ideals, they could mostly be traced back to that time. Even if he had never actually confronted the chameleon.... or even asked if he could stay.... Whip wasn't even sure he'd mentioned his own name to the ninja at the time... And yet, his frustration continued. Logic aside, there was no reason why Espio hadn't even given a friendly glance to him, and Whip was not about to acknowledge otherwise. In his petty and argumentative thinking, he scarcely paid any attention to the others on the ship, which was fine and well, considering they were almost all strangers, though out of curiosity, he started studying them. Alpha was sitting ahead of him, apparently entranced with the last of those rings left on his fingers, to which Whip made a note to have that debt repaid later. He couldn't help but feel that, since he had last given the hedgehog nine rings, there must have been a lot more going on than he had thought for there to only be three left. That.... goat... deer... antelope, Whip was incapable of differentiating, had asked Espio about ninjas. Whip felt an increased urge to answer, to give his own, very possibly skewed, idea of what it means to be a ninja, but held back. He felt that he should try staying quiet wherever Espio came into play for the time being, and moved on. He refused to look, though he knew that there was a ridiculously intimidating predator near him. After his run-in with with that angry cyborg wolf...thing, he wasn't feeling too fond about sharing a ride with another, and subconsciously scooted to the side. The last person he noticed was a little girl. Whip couldn't help but notice how young she looked, and was reminded of his own sister. He'd felt a pang, as it'd been a long time before the mix-up since he'd seen any of his sisters. He didn't even bother to study her very fancy clothing before looking down and away again. Whip's only outward action was the bouncing of his foot that hung on his leg, and otherwise he sat completely still, occasionally giving a glance around at the others and twisting his face slightly whenever the annoying thought of the chameleon entered his head. (You're up, Queen Jijeka-Te~ >v>) RE: Prelude to Infiltration, the path to Robotropolis. - Jijeka-Te - 08-10-2012 11:21 PM Ji was trying to keep a fairly professional posture in her seat, Anu right beside her. She figured that leaving the high-tech matters up to her teammates was ideal right about now. She was still a little afraid of Chadin due to his earlier outburst, but she was fairly comfortable with Gail at least. She said nothing, and just listened in on the conversation. RE: Prelude to Infiltration, the path to Robotropolis. - Gail Strafer - 08-12-2012 02:10 AM As usual, Gail was oblivious to the fright he caused merely because of his species and those of the others in the room. First he'd done it when he'd accidentally snuck up on Chadin, and now he was doing it again with Whip. And unfortunately for Whip, Gail wanted to introduce himself to the newcomer. He leaned over to the rabbit and began to speak in his lighthearted Dixie drawl. "So...ya'll are Alpha's friend, huh? It's nice to meet ya! How did you two get on the island anyway? Me an' Chadin and some others decided to come over on a boat when we saw ol Robo's ships heading this way." He thought he was just showing good old-fashioned Southern hospitality. But it would be in stark contrast to the sharp teeth he displayed every time he spoke. RE: Prelude to Infiltration, the path to Robotropolis. - Espio - 08-15-2012 02:11 PM Espio glanced down at the control panel to the right, tinkering with one of the primary interfaces. It was fairly simple to operate, and had gotton a few minutes of discussion with one of the village mechanics that refueled the swatpod after he geared up his invisipack. Hitting a few buttons, a pair of approving beeps were heard, the ship set to cruise torwards Robotroplis at its current speed. It wouldn't be too much longer until the city would come into view, so Espio decided to get some intel on the group he was taking into the city in the meantime. The chameleon stretched his arms out as he looked back at the others soon after Gail spoke. "A ninja...", Espio addressed Chadin as he closed his eyes. "Can be roughly defined as "one who is consealed." Ninja specialize in the arts of stealth and espioniage. They prefer to accomplish their goals from the shadows without the enemy even knowing they were there...but if detected, a ninja will not hesitate to utilize their speed and dexterity to silence the enemy...and shift back into the shadows from whence they came.", he said with a bit of an ominous tone at the end. "Though powerful, most civilized ninja adhere to a strict code of laws and morals. As without law...there is nothing but chaos.", he said as he ended his explanation. "Now...while we await our arrival at Robotropolis...why don't we fill each other in on one another's fighting styles? Should something go arwy..and I'm sure it will.", he said giving the others a once over, "I wouldn't mind knowing who tends to be where on the battlefield." His focus was momentarily shifted to the hedgehog that had been summoned earlier. "Excuse me...", he said pointing his right index finger in Alpha's direction. "Are those power rings? Perhaps you know how to perform...ring tethers?", he asked as memories of his chaotic first adventure outside angel island flooded in. RE: Prelude to Infiltration, the path to Robotropolis. - Chadin - 08-16-2012 05:08 AM I listened intently to what Espio had to say. Truth be told, they didn't sound all that different from how the Freedom Fighters operated. Sneak in, strike hard and fast and disappear again before Robotnik's forces could properly react. He certainly sounded like he knew what he was doing; which was a refreshing change from Gail's over exuberance. When Espio changed subjects and turned his attention to Alpha, I patiently waited for him to answer before I took my turn to speak up. "Well, mostly I'm a marksmen. I've been able to shoot off an apple stem from a fifty yards out. My crossbow uses the same power cells as Swat-bots so I can usually take them down with one or two well placed shots." "I also pack a knife made from a special type of alloy Robotnik created. We stole the metal and destroyed the research data so he couldn't build any robots out of it. The knife we made out of it is strong enough to puncture through a Swat-bot's chest plate and can slice through thinner sheets of metal. But it's more of a pack-up weapon really. I'm not too comfortable fighting up close. I used to always hang back and provide cover fire back in the Mountain Freedom Fighters." "Of course, I'm sure you've all probably noticed by now the other little talent I have. Ever since the dimensional merge I've been able to channel electricity through by body, which normally appears as a glow on the scars across by body. Usually I can only activate it when I either get really upset, like you saw earlier, or when I focus real hard. Plus, there's one other trick I'm aware of. At times when I really concentrate, my crossbow can fire without making a sound. I had thought it was just my imagination, but it's happened a few times now. It might be another one of these strange new powers I got after the merge." "Gerald told me it has something to do with this." I said, as I reached into my pack and pulled out the emerald shard Gerald had given me. "Apparently I somehow now have Chaos emerald powers. I never had anything like them before, but now I do. Don't know how, don't know why. Anyway, that's my story." Though Omega was listening to the conversation around him, it was only when Espio directly questioned him that he looked up, a bit like a sleeping student. "Fighting styles? Well, I guess the closest thing to a style I have would be called acrobatic brawling, if that makes any sense. I used to have a buster, kinda like an EggRobo uses, but that got taken from me when the SWATbots caught me in Launch Base Zone." It was a frustrating thought, to know that he had been captured again. And lost a valuable weapon in the process. He looked back down at his hand, turning one of the rings and sliding it back and forth over his knuckle. "Yeah, they're power rings. I can manipulate them to some small extent. Ring tethers... Isn't that what you, Knuckles, and the others used on that wacky island with the Chaos Rings? I heard a few stories about that. I've never tried to create a tether, but I don't see why I couldn't. I'm not sure how well it would work compared to the ones you guys used though..." |
