RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Espio - 04-30-2012 02:03 PM As the sun's rays began to shine down on the village, Espio who was in the middle of a short nap would awaken on cue, jumping to his feet from atop the lounge. He had spent part of the night explaining to Sonic the second Hidden Palace Zone propecy involving him, an ally and the two eggmans, and how this clash would turn the world asunder. He then went on to explain that the village elders deduced the probable way to fix things would be to gather up the shards of the shattered emeralds and reconstruct them. The rest was simple friendly (and at times witty) banter between them. Aparently the extra years tacked on to the hedgehog made him somewhat easier to talk to. After that, he had met up with the elders to report his findings at the launch base zone in full detail. An older Sonic, a rag tag band of freedom fighters, and Eggman's return to the island in the same story didn't sit well with them. He was now to stay with the group officially, and assist them in infiltrating Robotropolis, where scouts reported the Egg Fleet retreating in that direction. From then, he had to restock on his supplies in the armory, get something to eat...and finally doze off. With only four or so hours of sleep under his belt, he would appear to be a little cranky as he entered the lounge after jumping off the roof. Fortunatly the breaskfast fixings were already in place, the smell of maple pancakes wafting through the air. "...where DO they come up with these recipies on the mainland?", he asked himself slightly amused. He took a seat at the table reserved for him and the others; the first one there. Soon after taking a seat, a messenger in a green mechanic's outfit and a pair of protective goggles approache the ninja. He handed him a note saying tht the hovercraft was refueled, and ready to go. There was also another option to bring them closer. But he would leave that to a group vote....when they finally wake up, that is. RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Jijeka-Te - 05-01-2012 06:00 AM The pharaoh and her adviser had slept remarkably soundly for the first time since they'd been whisked away from home. It just felt more familiar somehow. Still, morning was morning. Ji almost hated to get out of bed, but Anu helped. Somehow they both wound up at the breakfast table, seated next to one another a few chairs away from Espio. RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Gail Strafer - 05-02-2012 11:24 AM In the same sleeping room as Chadin, Gail laid rather sprawled out over his own floor mat. His long tongue hung out of his muzzle, dripping saliva on the otherwise spotless floor. No doubt the ninja would find this rather disgusting if they were watching. But of course since Gail was mostly your average immature teenager he didn't give a crap. Very much unlike Chadin, the only thing he could think about was how friggin' awesome life had been since arriving in this world. Seeing exotic places, battling robots, visiting a ninja village! You just couldn't beat all of this! In fact all night long he'd been having amazing dreams about running around ninja slicing up Robotnik's robots with katanas and stuff. It was all just a fun game to him, even though he'd nearly been killed or captured a few times yesterday. Chadin stirring from his sleep and heading for the door caused the wolf to stir, although he wasn't up and about until the deer closed the door behind him. His eyes awkwardly opened and shut again several times as he tried to work through the fog in his brain from just being woken up. Finally though, he remembered where he was, and immediately stood up. Time to get some food! Without so much as bothering to set his matted fur straight again, he promptly bounded towards the door and opened it with a flourish. There he saw his new friend Chadin looking around, apparently trying to find the way downstairs. Helpfully, Gail walked right over with a smile and said, "Your stomach all growly too, huh?" RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Sonic - 05-03-2012 02:43 AM [ Hurray, long post for Sonic, wooot!*dances*] For the rest of that afternoon, the hedgehog listened; getting the general idea of what was happening around him. It was making his head spin, but at least he had some idea what had happened. It would give him something to mull over, while he exchanged banter with the Chameleon. Once Espio went away for business, he spent the rest of the day to himself. He must have run around the entire village just as night was beginning to fall. It gave him a little time to think, and perhaps a little breathing room as well. So, the Old Man was still alive; and the one who caused this topsy turvey land to come around. Figured as much, Eggman’s plans somewhere in the middle of his career seemed to always backfire on him. Then there was this group he’d managed to come across. There was the wolf- who reminded him a little too much of himself in his younger days. Then there was the lizard that seemed to keep to herself with her beetle friend. The deer he didn’t know too much, other than he’d appeared to be in a mess. And then there was the human- Gerald. If there had been on thing that was continuingly bothering him that night in his sleep was that man. Not only did it seem just weird that Robotnik’s grandfather would be younger than Eggman, but that he was even alive. And now that he was older, looking back on the memories of the Ark gave him another perspective. Back then, he’d just thought Gerald was some kind of madman. In the heat of the moment, he didn’t consider the background behind it. He was far more concerned with stopping the world from being destroy. Now that he was older though, it seemed much more like a sad and sympatric story. He had literally gone insane from the death of his granddaughter. And he was sure it was the circumstances around it that made it so. And hearing a few stories from Shadow put things even more into view. These were the kinds of thoughts that plagued the hedgehog for a while. A few drinks, he thought, would surely fix that. But as he tried to fall asleep, he’d find himself blacking out in the middle of the night; with the memories of that incident on his mind. ------------------------
With a very large yawn, Sonic stretched out his entire body; from his arms to his feet. Once dissipating, he relaxed himself and hunched over. His eyes looked groggily, and considering he was restless for one half of the night, it wasn’t surprising why. Opening the door to his room, he winced as the morning sun hit his eyes that came through the open doors of the large building. He brought his hand up to block the sun’s golden rays as he walked out of his room and towards the closest area of shade. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with the sun’s cheery disposition. As soon as he walked into the shade with his eyes adjusting, he looked around. He saw the deer looking a little lost, while the wolf came up to him and started talking with him. He looked over towards the tables on the other side of the room, and vaguely he could see Espio’s shape. The Lizard and beetle where over there as well, but sitting away from him. And then finally his eyes went over to door towards the room Gerald had been put in. One of Epsio’s ninja pals was standing silently next to the door, as a woman with a tray of breakfast foods were closing in. It looked like Gerald was put under house arrest. Looking baffled, Sonic scratched the itch behind his ear and looked back towards the wolf and the deer. He figured he might as well introduce himself to him, even though the deer was very aware to whom he was. Letting the Deer first answer the wolf, Sonic would shout out towards him as he walked up to the group. “Yo!” As he finally made it, he placed his hands behind his head. While perhaps trying to look aloof, he looked more tired than anything. But he didn’t have much grounds to complain; not when the deer came back looking as though he’d placed his hand in an electrical socket. “You’re looking better. It’s Chadin, right?” He held out his right hand, expecting the deer to shake it. RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Gerald Robotnik - 05-03-2012 04:15 AM [I’m on a roooolllllll~ . Hate to have a character that can’t interact with others due to character complications though. The room Gerald had been in was clean when he first entered, but by the next morning it looked like a tornado had gone through. The one window in the room that let the suns light in had the drapes shut. And the sheets that had been on his bed where now over the drapes to insure that no light found its way creeping into the space. Papers scattered on the floor showed some signs of mathematical works; the papers almost scattered in order. The very first papers where written (if a bit messily due to Gerald’s ability with an ink brush) in a calm matter, but as you looked father down they seemed to get more erratic; until finally, the last page had been completely bloated out by black in frustration. His shoes were scattered, with one thrown near the door and the other next to the bed. It appeared at some point he’d thrown his pillows in frustration as well, with a few of the goose down feathers scattered about; even though the pillow didn’t look like it’d been broken. And due to his throwing of a pillow the small table near the bed was down. The only thing that seemed even a little neat was the suspenders that hung on the corner of the head of the bed. And the room wasn’t the only thing that looked as though a tsumni had hit it. If you had thought Gerald looked like a mess, then somehow he had ascended to a new level of disorder. His hair, which usually looked like it was need of a good combing, looked like it was in need of water that could only be given out by a fire-hose. It’s look was equivalent to that of a birds nest, as his hair stuck up in the most random of places. Somewhere in the middle of the night he un-buttoned his shirt a little, and the collar was bent and sticking up instead of down. His blue shirt had also been pulled out and his sleeved hastily pulled up; one higher than the other. He sat on the bed, with his legs pulled in. His right elbow rested on his thigh has his hand propped his head with slightly closed fingers. His other hand rested on his left knee as he looked directly at the wall in front of him. The bags under his eyes were as dark as ever, with his eyes bloodshot and opened wide. He had a long frown on his face as he sat in complete silence. It was about that time when the door opened and a girl, who was a Chameleon much like Epsio, came in carrying a tray of food. She was smiling when she came through the door, before it slowly turned into a frown. She looked quite shocked to see the room in the state it was in, as she stepped inside nervously. Gerald hadn’t even bothered to look in her direction. “Umm…” She let out quietly as she set the tray on a table that hadn’t been knocked over. “ Are….are you okay?” It was a stupid question, but he felt that she knew that too. He didn’t move his head, but he did look over towards her. He did say anything at first, but he finally spoke up. “No, but I’ll deal with it.” He sounded defeated, even when he said he would deal with it. The girl awkwardly shifted in place. Something was keeping her from just leaving, but he didn’t know what. “Well…uhh…okay. Could I…I don’t know…get you anything?” He supposed as she asked that question she was feeling pretty sorry for him. He couldn’t seem himself, but he knew he looked terrible. His wife would have such a fit if she saw him right now. He wanted to answer her question with a no, but honestly, there had been one thing he was wishing for during the long hours of the night. “…Are…are there any books around here?” He asked meekly as he looked over towards her. With a surprised look, the girl nodded. She appeared like she had wanted to say something, but stopped herself as she looked towards the door. Giving a little bow, she walked back out the door and closed it behind her. To be honest, he was glad for that. He didn’t really want people seeing him anyways. RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Chadin - 05-03-2012 06:07 AM It was eerily silent in the building, apart from the distinctively loud clop of my cloven hooves at least. Frustratingly, I was actually trying to be quiet, but it just didn't seem to matter. No matter how softly I put my hoof down, a loud clop rung out with each step. Experience had taught me long ago that some people found the incessant clip-clop extremely annoying. Imagine being chased by an angry female mountain lion after waking her up from one of her many, many catnaps and you can get the picture. Just one more reason why I hate urban environments. Unfortunately for me, I'd become so engrossed with make no noise that I completely failed to notice Gail emerge, much less from the same room as I'd come from, get right up behind me and scare the ever loving fur off me. Quote:"Your stomach all growly too, huh?" Maybe it was the surprise of him creeping up behind me silently. Maybe it was the exact wording, considering he's a wolf and I'm a deer. Either way, the result was the same... "GAAAHH!!!" My fluffy white tail shot straight up into the air, as did the rest of me. Right into the low, eight foot heigh ceiling. THUNK!!!! Oh, I felt the impact alright, but not with my head like any other species would. In fact, I knew what happened almost immediately. A quick glance up confirmed my worst fears. I'd impaled my antlers into the wooden ceiling! As my heart rate calmed down a little, I glanced around, confirming that I was indeed hanging from the ceiling by my antlers about four feet off the ground. Looking back as far as my wider than normal field of vision allowed, I could just make out Gail standing below and behind me. "Gail?" I stammered, still reeling from the fright. "DON'T DOOO THAT!!!" I pleaded in a mixture of unbridled anger and embarrassment as my arms and legs bicycle wheeled uselessly in the air. As if being a species that is instinctively skittish and timid isn't bad enough, but I also have to be a species who can JUMP!!! Quote:“Yo!” My flailing in the air stopped almost immediately when the familiar voice called out. My ears fell flat to my sides and my eyes opened up as big as saucers when I saw the speaker walking up to me and Gail. My tail, however, didn't droop back down in the slightest. At this point I was so grateful I wasn't related to a particular red-nosed member of my species or else the embarrassment I felt would have been as plain to see as a traffic light. Of course, that said, my cheeks still felt like they were going to spontaneously combust any second now. Quote:As he finally made it, he placed his hands behind his head. While perhaps trying to look aloof, he looked more tired than anything. But he didn’t have much grounds to complain; not when the deer came back looking as though he’d placed his hand in an electrical socket. Aaaaaand there went any chance for me to meet Sonic the Hedgehog with any shred of my dignity intact gone, like confetti in the wind... The last time I'd met Sonic, back in my own Zone, I'd been a lot younger, and less than ideally mature. I... didn't exactly present myself with much dignity then either. In fact I'd say I acted more like a thrilled fan might when meeting a celebrity. "Uhhh.... yes??" I replied with a meek little whimper. I feebly held out my own hand, trying to carry on a facade of normality and pretend I wasn't stuck in the ceiling about four feet above them. "Ummm... How's it hanging...?" I offered a weak, pitiful smile as I tried to keep up the casual facade. I don't even know why that popped into my head. RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Espio - 05-08-2012 10:55 AM Espio gave a glance at Ju and Anu as they took a seat, and then the other empty chairs around them. Another chair had been prepared at a smaller table close by, presumably for Gerald. "I suppose your free to dig in until the others ar-" "Arrive...", he said as he facepalmed, shaking his head after seeing a few of the ceiling's wooden planks shook loose accompanied with the deer's yell as the other ninja that had gathered in the inn for breakfast, meetings and other purposes all stared up in the deer's direction. He put two and two tougether; knowing someone not named Chadin would be footing the bill for that later. "While we wait for the others to pull him out of the ceiling...", he said in a clearly annoyed tone that was just ACHING to hold back his temper. "Why don't you tell me your tale.", he said pointing his index fingers at Ji with his hands folded tougether. It wouldn't be long either till a certain someone was sent over to Gerald's room to escort him down to the table. He had most of all the details and stories of the group down pat sans Gerald and Chadin's (as Sonic called him) account of what happened on that ship, and where these two fit in. He coulda swore he saw art of people in similar clothing inside the Sandopolis pyramids last time he lead an exploration group there... RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Jijeka-Te - 05-09-2012 09:16 AM It was hard for Chadin's little accident not to grab the attention of Ji and Anu. Ji had to cover her mouth to keep from laughing. Still, they couldn't dwell on that for long when Espio decided to interrogate the pharaoh. (Ji) "My tale? Well... I suppose I could use the diversion. I should start by reintroducing myself..." She adjusted her position in her seat so she was comfortable. Anu said nothing. I am the esteemed pharaoh Jijeka-Te III. My escort here is my royal advisor Anu. For years I have ruled over the Egyptian desert, or at least my little corner thereof. My mother held the throne before I did. For most of my life she was too busy to spend time with me, so I wasn't very close to her. She worked her slaves so hard they bled, and I saw a lot of their miserable conditions firsthand. She always said that was just the way things worked. Then one of the slaves must have decided enough was enough-- my mother was murdered in her sleep, and the rulership fell into my hands. I was only eight years old at the time. Still, I knew it would happen someday, so I did all I could to become the leader my kingdom needed. I overhauled the living conditions and reduced the slaves' workload-- everything to make them happy. Productivity dipped, but morale soared. About a week ago, in the middle of luncheon, a massive flash of light came out of nowhere, and just like that Anu and myself were dumped in the middle of a big, grassy field, along with a part of the table. It's like something just cut out a small chunk of reality around us and moved it somewhere else. I still don't know exactly what happened or how or why, but that's how we wound up in this world... wherever "this world" is relative to where we came from. It was hard being separated from my kingdom like this, but Anu and I had no choice but to bear it. Days of wandering later, we wound up at Gail's residence, where we got caught up in this web. I don't think there's much else to my story beyond that. (Ji) "...I'm sorry, was that more than you wanted to hear?" RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Gail Strafer - 05-09-2012 11:28 AM "Whoa!" Gail ducked backwards as Chadin jumped straight up...and then he heard a loud thunk. At first, the wolf wasn't sure what he was looking at, but then he noticed Chadin hadn't fallen back to the floor. "Gail? DON'T DOOO THAAAT!" the deer shouted, as he swung his arms and legs all over the place trying to get loose. Despite Chadin's misery, Gail couldn't help but have a good laugh at it. His tail snaked around playfully as he wandered over in front of the deer. Gail then commenced with waving his paws around with his claws extended, as he grinned the whole time. "Oooh! Gail's gonna eatcha! Gail's gonna eatcha! Hahaha!" He snickered out, flashing his large teeth in a very threatening, but obviously joking manner. However, right after he dropped the act and grabbed Chadin around the waist area roughly, to where he could reach. The wolf pushed him up and down, as he hoped to get the point of the antlers loose in the hole it had made in the ceiling. His tall height and physical strength would mean it shouldn't take too long. "Aw come on bud...I know our ancestors didn't get along but we're past that, aren't we?" It was then that Sonic piped in. Gail turned around to face the famous hedgehog, and couldn't help but feel rather embarrassed for his new friend too. The wolf nodded to him but continued to try to shake the antler points loose from the ceiling above. "Would ya'll mind helping?" he asked Sonic, as the task was taking longer than he imagined it would. RE: Rainbow Valley Respite - Sonic - 05-13-2012 11:42 AM The look on Sonic’s face was nothing short of disbelieving. The deer must have jumped up and stuck himself into the ceiling above as fast as he could blink. One second he saw the deer standing on the ground with the rest of humanity, and then the next moment he was suddenly hanging from the ceiling. The situation just seemed a little too much like a cartoon to actually be real. But unless this was all some horrible dream-sequence, he was guessing it was indeed happening. With a weary smile and a sweat drop, he began shake Chadin’s hand weakly. “Not bad…not as much as you though.” He replied with his classic defense mechanism. Letting go, he proceeded to standing on his tip-toes to grab an antler from the ceiling. “Yeah, let’s get you out of this.” |
