Syhrus - Syhrus - 12-22-2011 02:10 PM |::Full Name::| ??? ??? |::Nicknames::| Syhrus |::Alignment-::| Goody-goody two shoes, to an extent |::Faction::| None (so far) |::Species::| Fancies himself an interdimensional being, but he‘s just a human (though exposed to interdimensional energies) |::Height::| 6’ |::Weight::| 190 lbs |::IQ::| Above average |::Age::| Unknown, though he appears 23 |::Birth date::| N/A |::Birth Place::| A now-destroyed dimension |::Family::| N/A, anymore |::Occupation::| Summoner field agent for the HQ |::Weapon of choice::| pistol when he has to (HAS TO, mind you) kill or wants to intimidate or try for an incapacitating legshot; lightning sword otherwise |::Appearance::| {Body Frame} Sturdy {Hair} Very light Brown, curly {Eye Color} Electric blue {Apparel} Casual wear with a hat, duster, boots, and red gloves {Items} Bionic right arm composed of millions of nanobots. (He doesn‘t know how to do much with it beyond the communicator/scanner in it he uses to maintain contact with the HQ and the abilities of a normal arm, though. It's also readily detachable.) Rasa, when not active in his “human” form, takes that of a golden mystic staff with a bright green gem set in at the top. This staff acts as an amplifier for Syhrus’s abilities and is what allows him to even summon weapons at his level of training. When Rasa isn’t in this form or is otherwise separated from Syhrus, Syhrus can’t summon. {Weapons}[i] Pistol: This is a simple 9mm semi-automatic pistol. Syhrus acquired it over the course of his first mission, and it has the unpleasant honor of being the first and only weapon Syhrus has killed someone with. He keeps it on him as a constant reminder of the responsibility it caries and a vaunted wish to somehow redeem his past misdeed with the weapon. Damage: Piercing, but not armor or metal piercing Range: About 50 meters, considering Syhrus’s accuracy Weakness: Reluctance to use it. Lightning sword: Enchanted sword that one of Syhrus’s friends has fitted with a vibra-hilt, allowing it to even slice through some thinner, less dense metals with ease. The lightning enchantment on it also allows it to be used as a mild stun baton by hitting the opponent with the flat of the blade. Weakness: Melee range. Untrained, so against a superior opponent, his @$$ is grass |::Personality::| Generally laid-back, upbeat, and insatiably curious (though not just all over the place or anything) with a world-weariness that pops up from time to time. He has a firm belief in family values (quite possibly due to survivor’s guilt over the loss of his family). His moral compass, along with a traumatic experience during his first mission, makes him adverse to the use of lethal force unless it’s absolutely, assuredly, GUARANTEEDLY necessary; as such, whenever someone around him is in mortal peril, whether they are good or bad, he is generally compelled to assist, regardless of danger (which is certain to eventually put him at odds with the HQ, as this could adversely affect whatever universe he‘s in wildly unforeseen ways). He also *tries* to be non-confrontational when face to face with a villain, instead first attempting to let them see the error of their ways and redeem themselves, assuming they’re not evil just for the sake of evil (though his ego and, believe it or not, the empathy can get in the way of this). Likes to play mind games at times. Tries to put on a strong/intimidating front when threatened or has an objective that needs to be met. Likes to lord his fairly sizable seniority over others when he can. His untrained empathy ability often brings certain aspects of his personality to the fore, whether he likes it or not. |::Bio::| Syhrus led a fairly normal life, until the age of about 23 when his home dimension (which was not that different from ours, incidentally) came under attack by belligerent beings who destroyed it so their masters could feed off of the entropic energies released by the destruction. An “HQ” member managed to save Syhrus at the last minute, sort of. Syhrus ended up exposed to the Great Void of Existence between the infinite dimensions, only to be later rescued by the HQ, an organization aboard a ship traveling the void devoted to saving universes from malevolent tampering and destruction. The HQ gathers those who would have otherwise died or have been displaced by interdimensional events and offers them the opportunity to save other universes with the nigh-unimaginable power and resources that the HQ gives to their senior agents. HQ agents gain their amazing abilities through a brief exposure to interdimensional energies and centuries upon centuries of training to be able to focus and manipulate said energies, “the energies of fate itself.” The energies, along with enhancing the body and magical potential, slow the aging process to a near stop (there are even rumors that the Grand Master of the HQ is nearing a hundred billion years old). There Syhrus was trained as an agent , specifically to eventually become a summoner for the cause under a gruff, rough edged master named Garrett. Syhrus was exposed to the interdimensional energies to awaken any magical energies within him, but he hasn‘t trained long enough to be able to utilize many abilities for combat, though he does already have a rudimentary familiar he acquired after his first mission who turns into a staff that helps Syhrus to channel his summoning abilities. His training in the manipulations of the energies was also intensive enough that he wasn’t able to train much for anything else. He was sent on his first mission early on, and suffered grievous physical and psychological injury during an incident; this incident consisted of Syhrus's capture by a deranged scientist. An experienced agent was dispatched to resolve the situation, but arrived to late. Syhrus had been painfully experimented on on the genetic level for weeks by the time the agent tracked him. A cursory scan later showed nothing major or important to be changed, but there could be unforseen circumstances and this is beside the point. When the agent arrived, Syhrus had already broken free of containment, and had his captor at gunpoint, the scientist's own gun, ironically enough. The rescue agent's sudden arrival surprised Syhrus, who was an emotional wreck after the torture he endured, and the shock caused him to inadvertently pull the trigger. Afterwards, the rescue agent attempted to lead Syhrus, who was in an understandable state of shock, through the scientist's heavily secured underground lab. Unfortunately, in his distracted state, Syhrus set off a trap that cost him most of his right arm, which was replaced with a bionic one after the mission. Syhrus sees this loss as due punishment for his crime and blames himself for the scientist's death to this day. This is only his second mission, after a half-century of training and duties aboard the HQ, the second dimension he has been sent to, and by the looks of things, he might be here for a while. |::Combat Style::| As a result of the exposure to interdimensional energy, he is slightly stronger, faster, and has better reaction time than your average human, though not to the extent to be called “super“ or anything. Untrained sword fighting, fair aim, and absolutely untrained unarmed. When unarmed, he is generally more reactionary than offensive, generally looking to dodge and/or run until either a tactical advantage occurs or help arrives. Being a summoner in training, he can summon a pre-selected loadout of weapons from the HQ‘s massive armory, though only one at a time, for limited spans of time. [i].:Moves:. Summoning: Syhrus can summon several weapons he temporarily “connected” himself with in the HQ’s massive armory. Since he’s still in training, he can only summon inanimate objects, one at a time and can only care two weapons at a time. Summon Laser rifle (mid-long range): Once upon a time, there was a brilliant HQ engineer with an idea, an idea of how to make the focusing of light energy efficient enough to put all the other laser tech aboard the HQ at the time to shame. He succeeded, and this rifle is one of the many thousands of results. Fires a precise beam of light up to 200 meters before diffusion in the atmosphere weakens it. Comes equipped with a flip up scope for longer ranges and fires twenty rounds. Oh, and everyone lived happily ever after… unless they were on the receiving end of this. Damage: Burns Range: 200 meters Weaknesses/other stats: Cannot be used in the same post as summoned. Takes one post to flip the scope up and aim for targets over 100 meters. And the cool down after using twenty shots takes one to two posts to cooldown. Summon Last Chance Laser Bolt (heavy): The BFG of laser armament. It’s large and unwieldly, not to mention the second or so it takes to charge each shot, so not much good for anti-personnel, but against something big, slow, and armored, the damage speaks for itself. Need a vehicle stopped? Engine shot. Need an aircraft grounded? Ha! Big robot givin’ you a hard time? Give it a sec, then BLAM! Damage: Piercing, can go through about three inches into even tempered steel Weaknesses/other stats: Cannot be used in the same post as summoned. Takes one post to charge before firing. Unwieldly in one on one combat. Can only be used once. Once used it can’t be summoned again for ten posts. Energy Pulse: As stated before, every HQ operative’s abilities come from basic manipulation of interdimensional energies. As such, with some focus, Syhrus can force the ambient energy around him outward or inward in a pulse that’s intensity varies with the amount of time he puts into it. Instant: Pulses with enough force to rattle everything within about ten feet. Can maybe startle an enemy, but not for long at all. 1 post: Pulses enough to knock over light objects in range. Might knock an enemy back or forward a little, leaving an opening. 2 posts: Pulse has about as much energy as a stun grenade, knocking over any nearby objects in range, AND knocking assailants to the ground. Weaknesses: Requires focus for charge, or it just reverts back to instant. It makes enough noise to be to attract attention from anyone nearby. The pulse wave doesn’t discriminate between friend and foe. Also, an enemy can dodge if they jump at the right time. In any form it will take five posts before using it again (or summoning anything). |::Skills:: | Empathy: (explain the details here) Summoners require a sort of empathic connection with a being before they can summon it for use in other universes. Since Syhrus is still in training, he can’t quite summon living things yet, but he is still working on his empathic abilities, which grow ever so slightly with every passing day. So far, he can just glean the surface emotions and feelings of those around him, and if they’re too strong, they may have an adverse affect on his emotional state and control. Insider Knowledge: As a member of the HQ, Syhrus is privy to the massive databases therein, detailing some general important info on the unfathomable amount of universes under the HQ’s jurisdiction. As such, he can use his arm-computer to contact his handler, O'hara, for information of people whose fates are tied with that of the universe he’s in on a regular basis, along with any need-to-know info about the universe. He generally likes to do his own snooping, though (Official characters only). But since the dimensional merge is screwy, the information the HQ has may be dated. (Example: He would have a profile on the teenage Sonic, not the mid-thirties Sonic). As his handler, O'hara keeps fairly regular tabs on Syhrus and his mission through the bionic arm. |::Strengths::| His empathy can clue him into what others are feeling at any given time, given the emotions don’t overpower him. He has listened to a half century’s worth of other HQ agent‘s stories, and likes to think that gives him a slight edge. |::Weaknesses::| His empathy can really drag him down when he‘s around someone with undeniably mopey or angry feelings at the moment. He has listened to a half century‘s worth of other HQ agent‘s horror stories, and can be a little over cautious because of it. He also has a marked lack of practical experience in the field, particularly combat. Likes to smack first and give up later when it comes to anything more technical than a television. |::NPC::| |::Name::| O'hara |::Age::| 3000+ |::Gender::| Male |::Species::| Human |::Appearance::| Tall with grey hair, goggles, fingerless gloves and overalls. Has a perpetual scowl and scotch in his hand. |::Personality::| Gruff. O'hara is a man who doesn't take guff from anyone, Syhrus included. A stubborn man with 25 missions under his belt before he switched over to support agent/scientist aboard the HQ, he was a fairly reclusive technician studying prosthetic nanotechnology before he met Syhrus. The bright eyed idealist appealed to something within O'hara, who gave Syhrus his latest invention, a shiny new right arm. O'hara transferred himself to be "the kid's" handler. He hopes to keep Syhrus's idealism in check, keeping him from breaking HQ regulations and from getting in over his head again. This often leads to "disagreement" between the two. |::Relation to Character::| HQ handler. He essentially oversees Syhrus's missions. |::Skills::| Experience: Syhrus defers to O'hara's vast field experience when unsure about his COA among other things. O'hara will also try to get his opinion known when something seems off. Handler's Guide: O'hara is a technician. Syhrus is a summoner. Neither knows anything about the other's occupation. When Syhrus is about to attempt something "summon-y" (O'hara's word) that might be dangerous, O'hara can refer to a pocket guide for summoner handlers to provide advice or warning. |::Uses for Character::| See: Skills |::Name::|[/size] Syhrus just calls him “Rasa” until he can come up with his own name. |::Age::| ??? |::Gender::| N/A, appears to be male |::Species::| A Tabula rasa. The biggest running mystery the HQ has to date. The prevailing theory is that they come from the Void, but no one is certain. They are a summoner’s first summon, take the form of a weapon that the summoner will use to amplify his abilities, and for some reason, are from that moment on “connected” to the summoner. |::Appearance::| Tabula rasas start as energy beings, featureless, barely taking the shape of their respective summoner, so they look like a silhouette made out of light. Upon entry to this dimension, Rasa has grown enough to have decided on a basic humanoid form for himself, but not much else. Bald, with slightly tanned skin and no eye color and no other outstanding features, not even a voice! |::Personality::| Tabula rasas always start out with almost nothing: no distinguishing features, barely sentient, almost no personality to be had. They are kind of like children in that they piece together their personalities over time and exposure to other people. Unlike children, their very physical appearance is built as their personality develops, changing to suit their developing preferences. Rasa is still very much a Mimic, imitating those around him without much individual thought or feeling to him beyond a curiosity that even surpasses that of the average rasa. He does seem to like working with his hands, though… |::Relation to Character::| Summoner’s aide/familiar |::Skills::| Mechanical/technical skillz: Unbeknownst to Syhrus, Rasa has been spending time in the HQ’s Engineering Decks, and learning all the while. Watching the engineers, Rasa has gained rudimentary computer skills and mechanical know-how that Syhrus sorely lacks. |::Uses for Character::| When Syhrus gets fed up with something technical, Rasa generally pops in to fix it, leaving an amazed Syhrus in his wake. Rasa also likes to hang out with others, despite lack of being able to properly converse, which is good for his development.
