Name: Celes Islay (Sell-eez Iz-li)

Alias: Cell

Age: 23

Sex: Female

Species: Tigeress

Alignment: Evil

Faction: Robotnik Empire

Appearance: Celes is a pure breed tiger, vibrant orange fur covering much of her body, interrupted by white fur that stretches from the underside of her muzzle, down her chest and stomach and finishes at her inner thighs. A small portion of her tail tip is also white as are the insides of her ears. Being a tiger she also has the customary black markings, a striped pattern covering her arms, legs, back and hips as well as a few small stripes on her face and muzzle. The tips of her ears are quite fluffy and coloured black. Her hair is brown, usually cut short and formed into two small shoulder length ponytails on the back of her head.

Cell doesn’t concern herself with fashion, usually ending up in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt or small top of some kind. Due to her many years staring at a computer screen she has developed a bit of trouble with her eyes and has to wear glasses.

Personality: Cell is as smug as you can get without your head exploding. Her vast knowledge base and calculative mind means that she thinks exceedingly high of herself and tends not to mix with others, or “the riff-raff” as she calls them. Not to say she wouldn’t accept help if she really needed it, and Cell is smart enough to know when something is outside of her abilities. She still tries even so, Cell can be very stuck in her ways at times.

Rampantly obsessed with technology, Cell’s smugness is only rivalled by her love of anything electronic. She sees it as the only way to accomplish things and sneers on the use of magic and its related subjects. This has brought her into fierce conflict with her more spiritual sister, almost to the point of disowning her as a disgrace to the family. Deep down she still loves her sister but it is a distant echo from a time many years ago.

Cell also seems to possess a rather unusual dual personality. Her smugness, and the large amount of time spent with her father and his friends, has resulted in her having a very tomboy like attitude for a majority of the time. Not in the sense of a bully or such like, but her lack of contact with girls has meant that she doesn’t concern herself with fashion or looking pretty and the topic of love or going out with boys makes her want to hurl. The other side of her shows itself very readily whenever a new piece of technology hits the market. She’ll turn into a rampant mad drooling fangirl and often ending up with an expression that looks like a kitten who just found a large bottle of fresh cream.

Much to the annoyance of people around her, Cell has a tendency to speak about herself in the third person. This has led to her distancing what she says about herself from herself and often ends up with her exaggerating things wildly out of proportion or justifying something she’s done more easily.

Transport: Anti-Polarisation Electro-Mag Board, she also holds a pilots licence.

Cell’s board uses charged particles to form a magnetic field around the board that matches that of the planet’s magnetic field. The end effect causes the two objects to repel each other like magnets. In this way the field can operate in any direction meaning it is possible to ride on walls or even ceilings providing the field is maintained. Magnetic clasps on the user’s feet hold them to the board during such manoeuvres. This also means she can fly backwards and perform various other moves with relative ease.

Propulsion is achieved by the force of reverse magnetism, or more simply the force due to gravity. As such acceleration can be altered up to 9.81 meters per second or terminal freefall velocity. Whilst this gives her incredible acceleration it limits her top speed when compared to other types of board. However, the level of control available makes up for this issue.

Her board is constructed by means of a technique called ‘pocket technology’. On her world it is common place to use this type of technology to store an object in a massively compact form, which can then expand to its full size when needed. In such a way, her board is stored on the back of her shoe.

Family:
Adrian Islay
Relation: Father
Age: 48
Species:
Adrian is the type of father any child could want. Caring and enthusiastic, he has watched over Cell since her birth and had given her all the support she has ever needed. He works as a Senior Programming Consultant of the MEGAcorp industry on Cell’s homeworld and has often ‘borrowed’ pieces of new technology to show Cell. Most of these never got returned as Cell ‘lost’ them.
Saphira Islay
Relation: Mother
Age: 46
Species:
Saphina is a very caring mother although she doesn’t have a lot of time to spend with Cell. She works alongside her husband at MEGAcorps as a Chief Technical Officer. Saphina has a love for anything electronic but is a very superstitious individual and as such is terrified of magic and anything unnatural. As such when Cell’s sister exhibited her magical talents Saphina disowned her. Cell knows the reason as shares the sentiment but not the fear.
Tallulah Islay
Relation: Sister
Age: 25
Species:
Cell’s estranged sister, a magic user and, to her family, a freak. Cell has had no contact with her sister in years and is all the happier for it. To her, Tallulah is nothing more than a distant memory and she is quite content to keep it that way.
P.O.G.O.
Relation: Pet
Age: N/A
Species: Polymimetic Organic Genetic Organism
Pogo, or Pog, is an odd creature that follows Cell around much like a pet dog would. It has no gender and no real form, instead taking on the form of whatever it sees or feels like at the time. In its raw state it is nothing more than a small blob of liquid solid but can manifest a face if it wants to. It has a habit of mimicking Cell’s emotions in a pictorial way, usually be imitating the weather or using punctuation signs. Pog lives in a small pouch on Cel’s right shoulder.

Weapon: Celes has two small guns, known as Pulse Pistols on her homeworld. They fire charged photonic energy blasts in a semi automatic fashion. Due to the pistols small size they only holds five shots and must be recharged for three posts before it can be used again. Each shot is capable of knocking a small person down at close range and causing minor to severe burns depending on the protection the target is wearing. They are stored in two ‘pocket’ compartments in a pair of bracelets she wears.
She also carries a single metal tonfa, used either for clunking people or defending. This hangs at her right side as a quick draw last resort weapon.

Gadgets: Cell can be found covered in gadgets most of the time. She doesn’t go anywhere without a small necklace like MP3 player and a set of bluetooth headphones. Her headphones also have a built in microphone, which contains a voice link to her laptop. She usually carried her laptop on her left hip, which is a lightweight version and custom made.
On her right hip is a GPS unit that is linked to her laptop and constantly tracks her position. Her upper left arm spots a small armband that is in fact a recharging unit for her laptop, GPS unit and pistol. The band absorbs light rays or absorbs body heat and converts it into an electric charge. Finally her glasses have an in built targeting cursor that is linked to her pistol.

Moves: Celes has few defined combat moves although one could call her combat style very energetic. She doesn’t stop moving, ducking and diving in all directions and popping off a good clean shot when she gets the chance. Her aim isn't perfect due to her having no official training so she tries to get herself into positions where she has an advantage. At the end of the day though she tries to sneak her way out of fighting. She’s more of a background fighter, using her skills to mess up her opponents options as much as possible instead of directly fighting.

RoF Up
Standing for ‘Rate of Fire Up’, this move has increased power compared to Cell’s normal shots. It requires her to leave her pistols stored for a full turn while they are overcharged. Furthermore she must be in direct sunlight as the charge is accumulated by using the solar band on her arm. Once this is done she can fire off three shots from both guns without depleting the shots she has left.
In addition to the charging requirements she can also only use this move once without overloading her pistols.

Her board, however, does give her access to a couple of unique abilities.

Proton Burst: Used primarily as a sudden stopping move, this technique floods the boards drive system with protons. The end effect disrupts the magnetic field around the board and causes it to stall, abruptly cutting forward motion and bringing it to a stop within a few meters. Not useable when she's going full speed due to the forces involved.

Reverse Polarity: Whilst normally the field around the board will repel all objects in order to maintain lift, this move reverses the polarity allowing it to stick to a metallic surface like a magnet. This gives Cell the ability to ‘hang around’ so to speak. Her board can only maintain this for several minutes before the stress becomes too much and the board returns its polarity to normal.

Electron Rupture: By generating a high intensity magnetic field around her board, Cell can actually cause the atoms of nearby objects to start breaking apart. The end result of this is a small scale, highly localised (basically within half a meter of her board) burst of electrons. This has two effects, firstly it can fry electrical circuits caught in the radius but this is very dangerous to do in combat due to the close proximity needed. Secondly it can throw Cell a good few meters into the air before the magnetic field returns to normal. This move also affects Cell's board however, she can only use it a few times without a period of rest otherwise her board itself starts to break down.

Wave Ride: When at top speed or the engines are pushed to maximum, Cell’s board can generate a bed of charged particles so thick the boards magnetic field can almost cancel out the effects of gravity by literally sticking itself to the air around it. When this happens it creates a highly visible haze around the board for a few meters around it that can look like a half pipe. Cell can ‘ride’ this bed of particles in such a way that she can seemingly float in mid air…although gravity does have an effect and she can’t climb higher than she already it.

Biography: Celes was born into a family of raving tech-heads, both her mother and father being both skilled and knowledgeable in the subjects of technology and computers. In this way, her childhood wasn’t exactly what you could call normal. From an early age she was picking up a screwdriver and trying to copy her parents, often getting in above her head and either ending up tangled in wires or being scolded for scrambling computer codes. Celes found it funny though and her parents didn’t seem to mind her intrusions…if anything they began to encourage it.

Why they did this was something Celes didn’t find out until she had grown up a little but even before then she could feel a conflict rising in the family. Her older sister, Tallulah, was never comfortable around their parent and occasional shouting matches were common place. Instead her sister seemed to prefer the use of magic, something that, on her world at least, was deemed to be a little unnatural. Celes was keen to agree with the masses too, growing up in a world where binary code and a spanner was the usual way to solve problems.

In this way a small rift began to develop between the sisters, nothing that was noticeable at first, a falling out, a disagreement, nothing out of the ordinary for siblings. Even so, each time they happened it tugged at something inside Celes and after a while she began to actually resent her sister. Why did she have to be different? Did she think she was too good to be associated with the majority? Or was it that she was a freak? Either way Celes soon began to ignore her sister as if she never even existed. A grunt at the breakfast table soon became her morning greeting and soon after she didn’t even acknowledge her sitting down.

This soon began to grow as the siblings grew up. While Celes was ready and eager to learn everything her parents could show her, eager to show them what she could do, Tallulah seemed not to care. It was clearer now than ever, she wasn’t the least bit interested in how their family lived and it didn’t take long before her parents too began to ignore Tallulah. Celes didn’t seem to care, with Tallulah being mostly ignored it meant that she had her parents eye more than ever and she began to relish the extra attention.

The young tiger soon began to progress in her studies and soon became quite adept at both computer work and simple mechanics. She was still young, barely a pup out of her mid teens, but her parents could see her going far in the world. This did nothing to improve her relationship with her sister, Celes slowly beginning to think that she was better than her sister. She didn’t seem to have any restraint to expressing it either and this only further added to the growing rift between them.

Eventually Celes moved away from home, enrolling on a special computer and technical course. From this point on she all but forgot about her sister, never mentioning her and distancing herself from anything that could be an embarrassment to her in the future. She began to focus on more important things, that is important to her, and soon found herself flying through her courses with good grades and plenty of praise. With this boost to her ego, Celes began to embark on more serious endeavours.

Confident that she could pull anything off she began to go a little underground, her skills in technology and computing slowly developing a slightly more sinister edge. While she would never do anything to harm others it didn’t stop her from ‘borrowing’ things she needed. A little extra cash diverted to her account, a particularly expensive part for a new computer delivered to her free of charge.

Before long she had developed quite a name for herself amongst her friends, known for her ability to get anything she needed with little or no trouble. Her parents were in the dark about this side of her, Celes keeping it a secret and only telling them about the advances in her education and such like. She had lost all contact with her sister by this point and went instantly quiet if the subject was ever brought up. Very soon her search for more knowledge and technology led her away from her family and into other areas.

Moving away from home Cell went about her business without a care in the world. It wasn't until the dimensional clash happened that she even looked up and noticed the world around her. Cut off from her former friends and family she had no choice but to look into the new world in front of her. Her early grief soon changed to joy though as she found out more and more. Despite her loss it seemed as if this new world had given her a greater goal!

Eventually Celes embarked on her greatest plan yet. She had decided to join the Robotnik Empire. The Doctor had long since been an idol of hers due to his skills in technology. Her plan was daring, foolhardy and considered by most to be totally mad. Not that it stopped Celes, if anything it encouraged her. She loved attention and this was going to make her famous, that is if she managed to pull it off. With that she packed up her gear and set off on her quest.

Skills:
Technical Know How
Whilst maybe not as physically talented as Tails, Cell is certainly knowledgeable. She knows a lot about how things work and ways round things, be it mechanical or computer related.
Lucky Streak
Whether by pure chance or just being in the right place at the right time, Cell has a habit of landing on all paws so to speak. Rather than seeing this as good luck she considers it her just rewards because she is brilliant…adding to her already smug nature.
Electro-Mag Specialist
Cell is especially good with her board, built on a history of having fun and trying thing that people thought suicidal. She has a tendency to ‘buzz’ people which annoys just about everyone but she is always in control.

Strengths:
1) Highly determined when she puts her mind to it.
2) Incredibly stealthy when she needs to be.
3) Her gadgets generally give her a few unexpected aces to play.

Weaknesses:
1) Over confident in tricky situations and generally very smug to boot.
2) Her gadgets have a tendency to inter-link meaning if she’s separated from one the rest suffer in efficiency.
3) She is short sighted and needs to wear glasses to see anything more than a few meters away clearly.

You sure you want the recharge time on your guns to be one hour? I mean, ten shots total between your guns isn't much at all if you got into a long-range battle. If this were my character I think I'd want to carry around some extra batteries or something to replenish shots on the fly.

Also, the backstory needs to mention what happened to her during the dimension merge.
