General Questions

Question:
What is this board rated?

Answer:
It's rated PG-13.

Question:
What does that mean?

Answer:
It means that this board is suited for a 13+ audience. It will have violence, a bit of gore (but nothing intense), some language, smoking, some drinking, and can flex to general darker tones not meant for young children. If you are under thirteen and still go here, your choice is that of your own. We will not be held responsible for your actions. We are also not held responsible for the actions of others.

Question:
How do I add an avatar/signature to my profile?

Answer:
See this FAQ for details: Sig & Av Guide

Question:
Can I be an admin/mod?

Answer:
At the moment, we are not looking for anymore staff members. If we need another, we will probably post a thread in the news section or otherwise contact you personally.

Question:
Can I help out then?

Answer:
Sure, we always appreciate it when members bring things to our attention. We can't be everywhere at once.

Question:
Does grammar matter?

Answer:
To an extent, yes. While we're not expecting you to type like a professional writer, try to refrain from things such as excessively using capital letters and exclamation points, constantly lacking in periods, not capitalizing names and places, etc.

Question:
What if English isn't my primary language?

Answer:
Then, please tell the staff. We will be happy to come up with a solution with you.

Question:
What does OOC mean?

Answer:
OOC means "Out Of Character". Basically, posts that are not involved in the RPG are OOC as you are not posting as your character. OOC in a roleplay topic should be wrapped in brackets or parenthesis so that players know it has no relation to your in character posting.

Question:
What are the warning levels?

Answer:
Typically, Warning levels go by 10% warn. At one hundred percent, you will be banned from the site. Every time you break a rule to an extreme enough extent, you will be issued from 10%-30% depending on the offense. Obtain enough and you will be dismissed.

Question:
And the stars?

Answer:
They show how many posts a person has and what rank they are.

Question:
Rank? What's that?

Answer:
When you reach a certain number of posts your rank changes and you gain an extra star. People with lots of stars have a high rank and show that they have been involved in the RPG a lot. However, generally, the staff appreciate quality over quantity.

Question:
I can't get into my account!

Answer:
It's most likely a board error. Try again and if you still can't log in contact one of the admin or post a message in the questions forum and we'll deal with ASAP.

Question:
I've forgotten/can't remember/lost my password!

Answer:
You want to click the 'Lost Password' link next to the sign on screen and enter in your email address you registered with and then check your email. Be sure to check your spam/junk mailbox if you do not receive it right away. If you are still unable to get back in, contact a staff member as soon as possible for assistance.

Question:
Who does what around here?

Answer:
Take a look at our Staff Page.

Profile FAQ

Question:
Where do I start?

Answer:
Right here.

Question:
How many accounts/characters am I allowed?

Answer:
Up to four. But even 1 or 2 is OK. Please note that if you have three heroes, your fourth must be a villain and vice versa.

Question:
Can I have a fifth account?

Answer:
Currently, no.

Question:
What's the difference between original and fan characters?

Answer:
Original characters are those made by Sega and other companies (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles for example). Fan characters are those created by fans of the series.

Question:
I've noticed that Official Characters have to be authorized now too. Why is that?

Answer:
In the past, we've cleared anyone wanting to be one simply by them asking to play as 'so and so' and an administrator activating the account for them. Unfortunately, this had led to some trouble in the past, allowing below-par roleplayers to get in easily and cause some problems for the staff.

Question:
Does this mean I have to write a full-blown background for them?

Answer:
We do not ask for the profile to detail everything in their past if they are one of the well known characters from the Adventures series. They can be a bit unreal unlike their fancharacter counterparts due to their general created nature (considering Rouge is only seventeen and has a job with the government). However, this will help us figure out your roleplaying experience.

Question:
Am I allowed to have a fancharacter that's Sonic's brother or Amy's kid from the future etc.?

Answer:
We prefer not to allow anyone to do this so it doesn't infringe on player who might be playing, say, Sonic. If we always allowed this, he might end up with fifteen long lost brothers and it would just be too much for the player. So, to keep it fair, we don't accept this.

Question:
Am I allowed to have my fancharacter be friends with an official character in their background?

Answer:
The same feelings we have of relating to a character apply to being friends with the official cast. This can be more lenient though depending on the player who is roleplaying as the character you want them to be friends with. Ask them for permission. If they decline though, please respect their wishes. Even if they can't be friends, we will definitely allow indirect contact at the very least.

Question:
I really like this one official character's move and want to use it for my fancharacter in the RPG. Am I allowed?

Answer:
We prefer that people create their own moves instead of using moves used by the cast. It creates variety and promotes creative thinking. So, we don't accept people using their moves. This also counts for moves from characters not related to the Sonic franchise such as those from other games or anime shows.

Question:
What kind of weapons are we allowed to use?

Answer:
We keep an open field about this, generally, and deal with it on a case by case basis. Basically, as long as your character isn't taking down a half a dozen players in one go or something ridiculous, we'll probably accept it.

Question:
What kind of abilities are fancharacters allowed?

Answer:
Like with weapons, we try to not limit people's creativity and with how many different concept there are out there, we usually take it by a case by case basis. If your ability is unacceptable, we will let you know. Often a revision to it will resolve any problems we have with it.

Question:
So then, are there any abilities that are absolutely exempt from the roleplay?

Answer:
Anything that's "broken" (breaks rules) will not be accepted such as auto-hitting, instant kill (unless it's NPC-only), or anything so powerful, they could rip the world in two. A lot of it is just common sense.

Question:
Why do fan characters have to be authorized?

Answer:
To keep things fair for everyone involved. We have to check new fan character profiles to make sure they are not too powerful, contain enough detail, and are of an appropriate standard.

Question:
Why do I have to register an email address when I register?

Answer:
So we can contact you if we need to and to reset your password in case you forget.

Question:
What kind of character can I play?

Answer:
Furries, obviously. You can also play as a human, human/furry crossbreeds, hybrids, robots, and mythological creatures.

Question:
With the new story, does that mean that we can play characters from other games (such as Star Fox or Mario)?

Answer:
Although the new story has opened the doors to many different possibilities, the main idea remains to be a Sonic roleplay. As such, we will not be allowing characters from other games.

Question:
What if I want to play as a Sonic character not from this universe (ex: Sally, Sonia, Scrouge, etc.)? Is that possible?

Answer:
ALL Official Cast members are allowed to be played in this RPG. This includes:
  • Anyone exclusively from prior and/or current television shows (Ex: Sonia, Cosmo, etc.)
  • Anyone from Fleetway or Archie comics
  • Anyone from the games after the Sonic Adventure series
  • Any discontinued characters (Ex: Bark, Bean, Mighty, etc.)

Have any further questions regarding this? Feel free to post them in the Questions forum!

Question:
What original characters are left?

Answer:
That changes all the time. Ask in the question forum to find out if the one you want is available.

Question:
What is an NPC?

Answer:
NPC stands for "Non-Playable Character". The term itself is derived from non-aggressive characters in regular RPG games and they are prominently featured series such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and others.

Question:
Can I play as family members/friends/hotel clerks etc. in my posts?

Answer:
That's what NPCs are for, generally. However, minor roles such as shop keepers and waitresses are fine, given that they are only temporary.

Question:
Can I have a super/hyper/other form?

Answer:
As no one in this RPG is likely to ever get all the emeralds, there is little point in posting an alternate form. So, to answer that, no.

Question
What about a form I can change into at will?

Answer:
We'll have to see.

Question:
Is magic allowed?

Answer:
Yes.

Question:">
What elements are available?

Answer:
Earth, electricity, fire, water, wind, light, dark, and chaos.

Question:
How many moves can I have?

Answer:
You get six moves of any kind plus one CS move and one team move. Use them wisely.

Question:
How many weapons can I have?

Answer:
That all depends on the types you desire. Talk to a staff member.

Question:
What are factions?

Answer:
Factions, or organizations, are groups of characters working for a common goal. In recent times, they have been built more loosely so that way, people do not have to feel limited when they are part of any faction.

Question:
Can I make a faction?

Answer:
Only RPers who have proven themselves to be exemplary posters will be allowed to make a faction and even then we require a good idea of what this faction will be like, its purpose, and so on.

Question:
What factions are there?

Answer:
The four major factions as of right now are the Robotnik Empire, the Freedom Fighters, the Soleanna Council, and the Thieves Guild.

Question:
Can I join a faction?

Answer:
You can join any faction that you want. Just know that you cannot be a part of two factions at the same time.

Question:
Can I leave a faction once I join?

Answer:
You can leave a faction at any time.

Question:
What are you looking for in a profile?

Answer:
Creativity, decent spelling and grammar, and good explanations.

Question:
Can I add things to my profile later?

Answer:
Yes, although you must discuss it with the staff first save for minor things like appearance changes (eye color, clothing etc.), theme song changes, etc. Those you can post about on your character's profile thread. Otherwise, post your update in the applications section and we'll have a look over it.

RPG FAQ

Question:
Where do I start?

Answer:
Anywhere you like, but try not to jump right into the middle of battles or large topics. Find a spot where you can introduce yourself, maybe join in a small group, and get the hang of posting before you try anything bigger. A handy topic to check out would be the Storyline Assistance thread. Though it is appreciated to the members in that story that you contact and ask if you may join in with their party.

Question:
How do I move between areas in the RPG?

Answer:
Use the Cross Country forum, that forum is for posting journeys between different places. While I'm on this topic, try to keep the travel times reasonable. One post will not get you between two places but there is no need to stay in the Cross Country forum for days. Make sure your travel time is reasonable; that is all we ask.

Question:
How do I get to Little Planet?

Answer:
Little Planet no longer exists.

Question:
How do I get to ARK?

Answer:
ARK currently doesn't exist.

Question:
Am I allowed to obtain a Chaos Emerald?

Answer:
If the administration approves your reasoning, then yes. However, this does not mean you will instantly get an emerald in your character's hands.

Question:
What about another power source?

Answer:
That depends on what it does.
