Storyline - Links Tyrell - 10-26-2009 06:05 AM Storyline Infinite worlds exist, infinite realities separated by the fabric of time and space. What if something were to happen that caused these realities to merge? Would it be safe? What would be the aftermath of such an event? The world of Mobius is one torn by conflicts on all sides. Villains are everywhere and all over heroes rise to meet the challenges laid down by others. One such hero is Sonic the Hedgehog, a spirited individual who has proved himself time and time again against the forces of evil. Whether it be a scheme by Dr Robotnik, the ancient god, Chaos, or of a certain black hedgehog, Sonic has always been able to break through and save the day. But this time something went wrong: an unexpected reaction that created a distortion across time and space itself. It all started with the arrival of a mysterious purple cat known only as Blaze. She was hunting the Emeralds... Not the Chaos Emeralds but the Sol Emeralds. At first, there were no explanations as to what they were until Robotnik revealed the truth. He had managed to cross the fabric of time, joining forces with his alter ego in another dimension, Eggman Nega. Together, they had stolen the Emeralds of both dimensions, the Chaos and the Sol Emeralds, and planned to use them to take over. Neither Sonic nor the new comer, Blaze, would stand for such a thing and fought back against their plans, using the Emeralds' power to transform. This is where the happy ending begins, the inevitable victory of good over evil. The sands of time are a fickle thing though. Perhaps in some realities, this was indeed the case. Perhaps in some realities, Robotnik was defeated forever. This time, it didn't happen... This time, the result was catastrophic! The combined power of the Emeralds reacted with the unstable fabric of the dimensions causing a massive chain reaction. Robotnik was indeed stopped, but the fabric of time and space was altered seemingly forever. The worlds began to merge, each pulling parts of the other into their own dimension. Space twisted and cracked, links formed, and the realities of different worlds clashed against one another like a set of icebergs. As the dust settled, a new world lay before them all. The Emeralds expended their energy in a massive burst, each shattering and spreading that energy across the face of the planet. Every lifeform on the planet had been irradiated by it, granting strength beyond which one would normally assume. Fragments in time also appeared, spilling the past, the present, and the future together onto the planet's surface. In the chaos of this merge, the world's first victim was discovered: Station Square. Formally a free and bright city, it was conquered by Robotnik as the world was spinning. Without the intervention of our heroes, the city was soon under the control of the Doctor and there was no force capable of wrestling control of it back. All was not lost though, the majestic city of Soleanna appearing out of the void onto the planet's surface. Whilst at first alarmed at the sudden event, the city's learned individuals soon determined what had happened and began to search for ways to help stabilize the still fragile world. It seemed the Emeralds were the key to saving the world as well as its potential killer. If the Emeralds could be reformed, extracting their energies from the land, then the pieces of the planet might settle back into position. It was not a perfect solution. The world would never be what it had been before, but it would prevent the world from tearing itself apart at the seams. But what would the population do? The world's destruction, although inevitable if not averted, was many years away. What new mysteries and scenarios await beyond the horizon? Will the world ever be saved, or will it die surrounded in greed? Only you can make the difference. This is a time for new heroes and villains to rise up and join the old. This is Sonic Aftermath. |
