Hey, what's up. Yeah, SA's kinda dead atm. But we're in the process of starting a new forum that will hopefully shake things up again. It should be completed soon. School and work have been kicking my tale with trying to get the back story done. But never fear, it shall be done! X)
So, how far back are we talking that you were here? I've been here for a while. I used to play a character named Jav when I first started.

I don't remember. sometime between 04-06 maybe. I played a trio of theives who... never got fully integrated into the story. Their plotline got axed midway through, but it's been so long I don't remember why or how.
Eitherway, the same thief will be making a come back, but he's not the robin hood character he used to be. He's gone from neutral to full evil. Actually, the more I remember of the old days, he's not too removed from the FFFF, except he just wanted to bring down the monarchy and establish a better system. He just thought the only way to do so was with violence and subversion. (granted this part only happened in another RP, removed from SA)
No idea how well he'll integrate, but I can make some changes.

Jonny! I remember you! It's mostly because of that awesome Sonic/Megaman crossover you did years ago. Good to see you again! Echo's right though. You can consider this board officially dead, but I'll be migrating over to Echo's new board when he finishes.
To tell you the truth we dumped F4 a long time ago. The last plot arc had a collapse of dimensions so that anything from any Sonic canon could be used in one RP. It also left the door open for time travel, so we had some wacky scenarios. For example, when I played Nail in this round, I had his father Gail show up as a much younger teenager.
There was a Thieves Guild faction your three thieves might have liked. Too bad you weren't around to see that. I was the only person who put a character in there, except for when someone briefly tried to take it over.
I got active again on fanfiction.net myself and I've even posted one new story, although I hang around the Star Fox section now instead of the Sonic section.

Good to hear! I actually got into a star fox RP not long after I left SA years ago, which led to my old thieves characters evolving into their own characters rather than just being shameless clones of Sly Cooper and the gang. They were a group of mechanics who did some bounty hunting work. At one point they actually got an enemy capital ship which they remade into a roaming foundry, sucking the remains of various space battles and recycling whatever they found so the mechanics could build more ships in the fight against andross (in that RP Andross had won, and the star fox team was... well, the Rebel Alliance from star wars x3 ). Lots of fun.
I'm still writing, although I'm doing it on FimFiction.net, I get better comments and more attention there. I got so sick of FF.net's bloated nature, and the crappy comments of 'htis si great. moar chapters plz.'
Still, color me interested when you get the new forum up. Curious to see what you bring to the table. =3

This is the link to Echo's new forum when you decide to go there. Echo hasn't finished everything though. I'd love to write a profile but it's hard to do that without knowing the back story of the setting. I hope Echo finishes up soon.
Where was that Star Fox RP you visited anyway? I actually tried searching for one a couple years ago, but all of the ones I saw on Google appeared to have died like this place. Having a roaming foundry does sound pretty cool. I wonder how one team of four mercenaries managed to expand into an entire Rebel Alliance though. Although...they did practically win the Lylat Wars almost singlehandedly so...
So you do MLP fanfiction? I'm guessing so because FimFiction.net looks like it's a MLP site. Sometimes I feel like the only guy on the internet who hasn't watched longer than a full episode of that show yet
I don't have a problem or anything with it though. I still play games with cutsey animal protagonists too. On FF.net, this strategy has helped me fight off crappy reviews. I look for excellent Star Fox fanfiction, I drop very detailed reviews that go on for a few paragraphs. I drop praise where it's deserved and get very specific about what I don't like and how it could have been better. Most importantly, I also try very hard to not tell the author to change his vision or do a rewrite. I instead try to structure my critique in a way that helps the original story stay as intact as possible. People really appreciate that. Other people notice when I drop reviews like this, and I've been asked out of the blue by others to look at their stuff. The great thing about these kinds of people is that they seriously want to write better, like I do. Then after I review their stuff, they review my stuff with the same intensity, and we're all happy and getting better at writing too. It's worked wonderfully so far for me, and now I've got a small circle of like-minded friends on the site.
If you want to see the one new story I've written since 2007, this is it. It's called "It Gets Darkest", and it's a Slender Man X Star Fox crossover. The focus is more on the Star Fox side of things, since the story is primarily from James McCloud's point of view while he's being haunted by Slender Man.

This is the site that has a few Star Fox RPs, as well as others. its a small, informal crowd but its pretty regular with the updates. I dropped out of the last star fox RP one due to player conflicts. One guy had 7 characters, an entire band who dealt in smuggling and sabotage... and my guys were a trio of bounty hunters who never got a chance to shine since everytime there was a mission, his guys could do it better.
The first was Generations, which dealt more with teh next generation of pilots (staring Marcus, fox's son) facing off against a race of tiger people called the Marli. The next was a side RP where our characters were taking orders from an older Wolf, but the first mission was scrapped when our RP leader dropped the RP. This was where I had that cap ship. ... didn't last very long so I didn't really do anything with it. >.>;
The next was Beyond Game Over, where Andross won. I dropped out of this one, tired of seeing my characters take the back seat to the others. Said guy with the 7 characters was collabing with our RP leader so he was making up huge chunks of lore that we had to read so it wasn't very enjoyable for me.
Well, congrats on finding people who actually want to do better on FF.net. I think in my 10 years on that site I only met you and one other person who actively wanted to form something resembling a community of aspiring writers. I'm actually pretty happy on FimFiction, and yeah, I write da ponehs. The crowd there feels more grown up, I get better comments, and the overall quality of stories is decent to great. And I hope you still don't think of that old sonic/megaman fic, that thing embarrasses me now. My latest story almost has nothing to do with the show, its a very slow paced story about a human appearing in a world of ponies and decides to play the role of a forest god. 556 upvotes to 10 down, I must be doing something right. =3

Even if Uchuu Senkan Yamato is 40 years old this year, that opening theme still holds up extremely well.
It might take me some time to get to your story though. I'm reading a 230K+ Star Fox fic at the moment, and I've only made it to Chapter 14. There's 30 chapters and I only have time to read one per day. For your fic, I hope it's easy enough for me to follow along in spite of me not knowing much about MLP. My story's quite a bit shorter though. It's just under 20K.
Echo's RP isn't Star Fox. However, it is still a space-themed RP and he's mentioned to me that furries will be allowed.

actually, you're spot on. He used Uchuu Senkan Yamato as a base for all of Zoness's spaceships, and reasoned they would look like sea faring ships because Zoness is a water world.
I think the only thing you'd need to know is that the Everfree Forest is the only part of their world that isn't regulated by the ponies or magic, so they think it's terrifying (which makes sense, since they live in a highly ordered and regulated society, yet live next to something that's completely untamed and wild).
I feel like Deja vu as you explain about Jav's RP. Has this been in the works for years now?

You'd have to ask Jav about that. I think Jav started throwing it together in response to this board's death being imminent, so he hasn't been working on it for long (a few months).
I actually made my own thief character while you were gone. You don't have to read the profile or anything, but I feel like if I were running this guy at the same time you were here, Jonny and Giichi would have been good friends:
