RE: The Jungle - Nail Strafer - 08-29-2014 07:18 AM A lot of things didn't phase Nail, but that odd high-pitched screeching sound the female raptor made while screaming caused Nail to jump back a little bit. It felt so otherwordly compared to the things he was used to. His eyes slightly widened, although no other reaction crossed his face. But compared to most people, for Nail this was like screaming in terror himself. Nonetheless he felt relieved that those raptors were getting put back in line by their commander. At least she had her head on straight. That much was a relief. He felt so afraid that Gail might do something stupid and start a deadly fight. It was then that Amiroo said that Nail, himself, and Jimmiree needed to talk. It was probably about Nail's plan to split the parties, but he decided to stay silent and let Amiroo say his piece. RE: The Jungle - Gail Strafer - 08-29-2014 07:22 AM Gail snarled at the raptors, although both Nail's and Giichi's words helped cool him down. He merely stood silently and gave a dark look to each of the raptors in turn, as their commander gave them a dressing down. Serves ya'll right for bein' so rude. While he was glad to finally be getting some medical help, he didn't drop the dark look as one of the younger raptors came forward to heal him. However, Gail did maintain enough good sense to hold his tongue. After all, the person giving you medical attention was in a special position to apply a lot of extra pain, if he or she so desired. Best to not say anything crass right now. RE: The Jungle - Giichi Twinkieland - 08-29-2014 07:27 AM Giichi nodded at Jimmiree's words. "See Gail? They don't mean anything by it. Thanks for staying calm by the way." Gail offered Giichi a small smile of thanks. Giichi returned it. "Smartest thing you've done so far today." "What's that supposed to mean?" Gail's yellow eyes narrowed, staring Giichi down. The wolf stood at nearly twice the height of Giichi, so the effect of the wolf eyes amplified that much more on the smaller cat. Giichi felt a sharp jolt of fear go through him, as he realized he'd just spoken his mind a little too freely. Nonetheless, he sheepishly smiled. "Sorry," he apologized. "It's just it's good you calmed down when we asked you to. That's how you control your temper, is what I wanted you to say. I think if you want Nail to respect you more, then you need to show that kind of attitude." RE: The Jungle - Echo - 09-01-2014 10:56 AM Quote:"What's that supposed to mean?" "now now hatchlings, lets play nice" Amiroo said stepping between them, "but Gichii is right." Amiroo said turning his head to Gail. "If you want to be a part of this at all, you need to control you emotions. We can only afford to bring those who are mature and we can count on. We can't babysit you, and save the world. If you want to come with us and do the big things, You're going to have to prove to us you can do the little things first." "I don't mean to interrupt Captain, but we're running short on time." Jimmiree said. "Yes, I know. But we need to make some adjustments to the plan going forward. Also, for the second time, I'm not a captain." "Right right, my apologies. uh, What do you have in mind?" RE: The Jungle - Nail Strafer - 09-03-2014 09:24 AM Nail stood off to the side, waiting for Amiroo to voice his plans. Would he stick with the idea Nail had about breaking up both teams evenly with Amiroo's and Jimmiree's troops? RE: The Jungle - Gail Strafer - 09-03-2014 09:49 AM Gail simply stood there and glared at Amiroo as he received his lecture. Lecture lecture lecture. Gail's mom and dad always lectured him, Chadin had lectured him, Nail had lectured him, Giichi had lectured him, and now Amiroo was lecturing him. He deeply resented all of the criticism he was getting, but got the feeling that if he complained he'd simply be lectured even more. He looked down at Giichi though. Unlike the others who were always stern, at least Giichi tried to be friendly and compliment him on what he did right. It didn't feel so bad with him. Maybe he could listen to Giichi, at least. RE: The Jungle - Giichi Twinkieland - 09-03-2014 09:52 AM Gail was giving Giichi a curious look. The scowling look was gone, but now the wolf looked down at the cat with a rather impassive look. Giichi didn't know what to make of it, but at least he wasn't being glared at by someone twice his size anymore. It was a definite plus. He waited for Amiroo to say what he wanted to say about their plans. RE: The Jungle - Echo - 09-10-2014 04:17 AM "Me and Nail here were talking and we've decided we'd like to split our teams evenly between between our two groups." Amiroo said. "out of the question" Jimmiree said bluntly. Amiroo's eyes narrowed, '' why?" "We don't have the kind of time to get accustomed to each others procedures and trained responses. When we make contact with the enemy our response needs to be swift and coordinated. We're not going to have time to stand around with our thumbs in our mouths figuring out what we should do and who is going to do what." Amiroo stood a good moment, he had to admit, that was a sound argument. He looked to Nail for a reply as he was coming up blank at the moment. RE: The Jungle - Nail Strafer - 09-12-2014 12:21 PM It actually was a good point. In combat, seconds could mean the difference between life and death. If the chain of command was muddled due to the mixed teams, it could be fatal for everyone involved. Nail was at a loss for words for a moment. He stared off to the side, deep in thought. Within a few moments though, he snapped his head back at Jimmiree. "If we can't split up the teams half and half, then I will go with the Yudanese group. However, I want two Ararians to come with me. I think the Yudanese who goes with the Aranians should be someone with high ranks as well." He looked over at Amiroo. "If you don't mind, I'd like to go over a few details with you in a second. Excuse me a moment." He walked off without confirming whether or not the two raptors were OK with this plan. As for Nail's suggestions, his reasoning was that if this was a trap, it would be much harder for the Yudanese to subdue three people instead of just one. And surely at least one of them would be able to get word out that they had been betrayed. As for the high ranking Yudanese going with the Aranians, Nail wanted to make sure they weren't just being given an expendable grunt. He wanted the Aranians to have a hostage if things went south. In any case, he stepped up to Gail and Giichi. "I want you two to stick with the Aranians. If there's trouble with..." Nail paused for a moment. He was going to add with the Yudanese, but they were in earshot. In any case, he recovered and continued speaking. "If there's trouble, I'll be the one who is most capable of handling it on my own. Giichi, I want you to watch Gail. Make sure he stays out of trouble." RE: The Jungle - Gail Strafer - 09-12-2014 12:39 PM "I'm standing here, you know," Gail glared at Nail. He was still being talked down to, and he wanted to add some more choice words to that. Nonetheless, he held his tongue and temper, like Giichi suggested. Nail gave Gail a hard look. "Listen, I know you think it's fun running around and doing all these adventures, but they're not games. This is life and death. The reason why they put you through all that training in the army is so you learn respect for your superiors and you harmonize with your comrades before you go out on the battlefield. On the battlefield, petty fights like the ones you're picking will get people killed. I don't want to die because of a stupid argument. Do you? What if both of us got killed because we were so busy arguing that we didn't see a sniper who shot us both in the head?" Gail went blank. He actually hadn't thought of that. He thought military training was just to toughen you up, not get you in a certain kind of mindset like that. "I think...that...that..." Gail coughed. He didn't want to say what he was about to say. "I think that that would be a really stupid way to die." "Glad we agree. You might not be a soldier and we're not officers, but I think it'd be good if you pretend that me and Giichi are your superiors. Is that all right?" Gail sure didn't like bowing down to anyone. It was his boxer past coming to the forefront. Grovelling to a superior in that environment made you look weak. But he supposed bravado didn't count for much out here. "Yeah, it's OK." "Giichi, think you can keep him in line?" |
