Why'd it get quiet all of a sudden? - Giichi Twinkieland - 12-30-2013 01:16 PM

Hey guys, just wondering why the roleplaying went silent all of a sudden. I know its the holidays and whatnot, but I never thought EVERYONE would take off all at the same time. Has Christmas been that busy for everybody?

I've been on here, wandering around, looking for something to do. Guess I'll just keep playing Steam til other people decide to come back.

[Giichi is an alt account of mine in case you didn't know.]

If you want something to do, maybe we could start a roleplay outside the main roleplay in the games forum. Interested? If you've got a plot idea we could try it out.

All I can think of right now is a Power Rangers/Super Sentai-esque roleplay, but I know a lot of people aren't into that show Smile

Hmm. A sentai-themed roleplay? I like the sound of that.

So bored ;_;

Maybe you can join us in our sentai roleplay Smile

It's kind of hard to have a power rangers\sentai team with only two people :\

You do realize most of us were busy over the holidays with family and friends?

Also, my acceptance into Job Corps. has been confirmed, so all that free time I thought I was going to have these next few months has suddenly come into jeopardy. RPGs are not my only hobby, and given a small amount of leisure time I would rather hang out with my friends or work on my computer game then spend it on a role play forum. Nothing personal, I just don't think I'll be spending a lot of time here in the next six months.

In my defense, you had such a long-running thing going that trying to jump in felt like trying to enter a round of double-dutch. I just never could get the timing, and there was SOOOOOOO much backlog to read. Like, too much.

In the future, I think maybe you should be willing to start a new game when you try to invite a bunch of people. Giving someone new a daunting amount amount of backstory they must consider before they even have a chance to ease themselves in is a nightmare.

Shaz, I do acknowledge it's the holidays right now. I did it in my first post. But EVERYONE not posting for like four days? Surely I can expect at least one person besides me would post at least once during the holidays, right?

I also acknowledge our current round has been running for a couple years now. However, there's no need to read all of the old roleplays if you don't want to.

Did I give you the summary of the roleplay's backstory? Because if you've read it, that should be all you need to know to play.

Also, we chose to have Mammoth emerge now as a major villain, so that there's a new plot arc for new players to get settled into. Think of it as like a long-running comic book (like Superman) starting a new story arc for new readers. With a new arc you don't need to know the backstory, unless you'd just like some more context for what's going on.

And hey, if you do forget something about the backstory when writing a post, I wouldn't get on your case about it. At the worst I'd give you a gentle poke about it. I forget details about past roleplaying events all the time, like "Did Character X do this?" or "Does my character still have Item Y?" If I can't remember, oh well, it will all work itself out somehow. Even professionally-made novels and movies have plotholes but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them.

I gotta say it'd be a shame to lose you, since you're a really smart guy and I still can't believe you've never done text roleplaying before. Both of your profiles you've posted so far have been amazing! But you've gotta do what you gotta do. I know what it's like with living on your own and needing to support yourself. I moved out of my parents' house in 2007. The stuff going on in your life is more important than this place, so do your best at your new job.

I didn't say I've NEVER done it, just that it never lasted long...

Well, in any case, I don't see why I can't try and jump in anyway. Just please don't get mad if it turns out I really don't have time to be on here.

Does this kind of slowdown happen every holiday season? Regardless, I'm still around everyday and willing to jump into something.
