Vacation time - Nail Strafer - 05-07-2013 12:32 PM

Hi everyone,

I'm going to be on vacation in from May 18 through May 27. So don't expect me to be checking in much. Here's my plan to minimize disruptions where my characters are:

- Chadin, feel free to control the shadow beast in Robotropolis while I'm gone. Robo is out of the picture right now, and maybe I can have Gail just pass out from blood loss briefly.

- As for shining prospect, perhaps the time Nail is off screen could be him going in for gene therapy. I don't know about Giichi but it wouldn't be hard to get him off screen either for some reason.

Check on shadow beast. Don't worry, I'll try to keep things going smoothly till you get back.

That's cool, I was actually gonna post my own vacation absence for the 22-27/28 of this month. I'm heading out to Arizona to see my brother. I don't know how much internet access I'll having during the trip. (we're taking a train X3 ) But yeah, we can work on getting Nail in gene therapy, we can send Gichii and Rye off somewhere in the facility. That'll give me time to post my profiles FINALLY >< and we can start getting a new plotline underway when you get back. Smile

Thank you both for the quick replies Smile

I've been looking forward to this vacation for half a year now. I can't wait to see Japan.

Domo arigoto Mr. Roboto. (Please forgive the horrible, horrible spelling)

Try not to get run over by any bullet trains. I hear those things are sneaky little buggers. Speaking of, I heard that Mt. Fuji is soon to be recognized as a world heritage site. Better go visit before all those grubby tourists wreck the place.

Oh, and if you happen to visit Nintendo headquarters, you could do the Western world a favour and slap Sonic Team upside the head and tell them to stop ruining Sonic for the rest of us? Maybe steal the legal documents so someone else could make Sonic games?

Hell, I'd even be willing to turn them over to EA of all people. They can't possibly do any worse than Sonic Team at this point. XD

Oh hey, do you think you could pick up on of those working mechs that one company over there are building? Sure it'll only set you back a few hundred thousand bucks but hey, just imagine how easy your commute to work will be when you can just walk over all the other cars in traffic. And it's armed with BB guns that fire when you smile. How awesome would that be?

Have a good time on vacation, Nail!

You had it close Chadin. It's "domo arigato", which means 'thank you'. Actually one word or the the other is sufficient to mean 'thanks'. In truth though the English spelling doesn't matter much, since it's just a translation of the Japanese sounds.

Japanese isn't as hard to learn as I thought it would be. When you write something, you don't have to worry about upper and lower-case letters. The grammar is much simpler compared to English too. You can say a lot of things with just one word, while English might require you to add in a pronoun or something. Like "I don't understand" is simply "wakarimasen", and "I do understand" is "wakarimasu" (with the "u" being silent). I just wish I wasn't so lazy in trying to learn it. Kinda hard to get up the motivation when no one living around you speaks it, you know? However, I have gotten to the level where sometimes I can spot incorrect subtitles in an anime or something, so that's pretty cool.

I think I actually will see Mt. Fuji whiel I'm there. One of my planned visits is Hakone and apparently that has a view of Fuji.

As for Nintendo, I hear their headquarters are in Kyoto, and I'm not sure if I will be going there (train tickets are supposedly expensive). It does sound like a really cool place though. Apparently while Tokyo is all modernized, Kyoto still has most of Japan's historic charm.

Oh, and I may not be buying a robot, but I hear there's a Gundam-themed restaurant in the Akihabara district in Tokyo. And you won't believe this, but Tokyo Dome always has a crowd of anime and game cosplayers gather there every Sunday. Too bad I'm flying out on a Sunday. I want go over there and take some pictures for the lulz...

Akihabara's the one destination I'm looking forward to the most, since it's an electronics district and filled to the gills with rare Japanese videogames you can't get overseas. I've got plans to buy a Japanese PS2 and possibly a Famicom (Japanese NES), plus I have a list of games I will be searching for. Definitely going to leave room in my suitcase for them.

Heh heh... That would be funny if you're seats at that Gundam restaurant was the 'fake' cockpit of a gundam.

Well, be sure to take lots of photos and make DAMN good and sure you have a good time there. Would hate to hear you had a lousy time or something when you got back.

Hi guys. I had an awesome time in Japan, and Chadin...I actually DID find the Gundam Cafe Smile I will put up a picture later.

But I needed to mention the jet lag is kicking my ass right now, and so is a cold I caught on the flight on the way back. I will probably be moving a little slow for a day or two more.

RE: Vacation time - Chadin - 05-30-2013 09:11 AM

Gundam cafe... Big Grin

Well, don't worry too much about being a bit slow. I'm pretty sure the slugs in the backyard lapped the house a few times before anything moved around here.
