"Fair enough."
Shaz jogged down the hallway at a brisk pace, tapping the side of his head as he went. "Okay, just a few calibrations, and... woah, that's weird." A radar display overlayed his vision as he tried to pinpoint the exact location of his faux emerald, but the damage he sustained must have been more serious than he thought, because the radar was showing hundreds of blips, some clustered and some scattered over a wide area. "Maybe narrow the spectrum...?"
Instantly all but one of the blips vanished, pointing to a location several meters above. "Ha, that's more like it!" He pointed the way for everyone following him. "This way! There's an elevator at the end of the hall!"

As Shazbot and his new companions began walking toward the elevator, a figure stepped into the doorway, blocking out whatever light came from the street. Whatever the figure was, its footsteps made a metallic clanging that echoed in the near empty room.
A slight whirring sound could be heard as the figure turned its head to look about the room. A voice, sounding strangely human, minus the mono-tone, sounded from this being. "Personnel transportation storage located. Perhaps some way aboard the Egg Carrier can be found within."
When the voice quieted, the whir of servos started up, before being drowned out by the metallic footsteps once more, as the figure moved toward the same elevator as the Mobians and cyborg.

"Um... If you say so?" I shrugged, seeing as I wasn't privy to whatever inner workings Shaz was seeing inside his own head.
I'm not sure what the technical term would be since I'm no scientist or anything, but this guy seemed to be really random. Speaking of which... "Hey, um... I, never actually got your name before... Mine's Chadin."
There would probably be just enough time for a few quick introductions before my ears suddenly shot straight up and began to frantically twist and turn. "Shhh!! Listen! Someone else is here, and it sounds like a bot!"

Still Ji and Anu didn't say a word, having little idea what was going on.

"Shazbot, at your service."
Shaz stopped at Chadin's sudden exclamation, listening to the echoing footsteps as they traveled down the hall. "Metallic... bipedal, with an unusual gait... What the heck?" He zoomed his eye down the dark hallway, where a strangely shaped figure was silhouetted against the dim light. From atop its inhuman form one could barely make out two glowing green eyes.
Quietly, Shaz changed his arm into an orange cannon.
"Sheesh, gimme a break..."

As the mechanoid walked further into the tower, he decided that searching for a usable vehicle would be easier with the aid of additional light. He stopped for a second, and the lamp mounted to his "waist" flared into life, though the bulb being old, didn't reach any sort of blinding levels, unless one of the four was using a night vision device. Once the path ahead of him was illuminated, he could see a rather assorted group of individuals. His seemingly unfocused gaze lay upon them, as he attempted to figure out who or what they were, especially since one looked to be half-machine.
"Analysis inconclusive. No estimation for current party available. Please explain." He stood with both his arms at his side, neither raised, his only movement being the slight natural bounce he was built with.

As the bot came into view, and especially once, it's light was shining on us, I raised my laser crossbow in the big bot's direction. For my part, I certainly had never seen this particular model before. And the fact it wasn't pointing that big gun attached to it's right arm left at us and talking to us left me all the more baffled. Then again, what it did say didn't make much sense to me either; but I don't speak robot either so...
"Um... guys, why isn't the big bot shooting at us, or spouting something along the lines of: All hail Robotnik or some such? Uh, not that I'm complaining!" I muttered uneasily as I anxiously kept my weapon trained on the hulking bot's glowing optic sensors.

Sensing a battle about to break out (that's usually what happened when people pointed those foreign weapons at one another), Ji and Anu discreetly moved off to the side, and Ji drew her flail. Neither did anything to draw attention to themselves.

". . ."
"SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"
Forgoing all thoughts of danger, Shaz flung himself at the red robot, circling it and inspecting every nook and cranny of its construction. He lifted its arms and ran his fingers along the smooth metal, taking in every detail.
"Spirits above! It's a real live E Series! And it's walking! AND TALKING!"
He circled the mech, lifting a leg to see the underside of its foot.
I've only ever seen these in museums, and never in full working order, let alone running the original OS! Oh my goodness, you have to tell me, how do you calibrate the ignition drive? Ooooh, those old codgers at Metropolis U. will never believe me when I tell them about this!"
Shaz turned toward the party, suddenly becoming gravely serious.
"Guys. We have to keep him. This is non-negotiable."
