Robotnik's HQ.

The sheer size would be impressive if not for how gloomy and outright ugly the imposing steel edifice was. Compensation, mused the onlooker.

Standing back, within the shadows of the buildings opposite the huge building stood an imposing figure in of itself. A huge wooly mammoth, impeccably well dressed in a fine white suit and a slender, but sturdy cane. It mattered not how big or how well defended this place was. Nothing would stand in his way. Nothing would stop him from achieving his goal. He could practically feel his prize, muted even as it was within the mass of steel and concrete. They called to him. Begged to fill the gaping void in his chest.

All was in place. Right about now, the lackeys he'd recruited would be striking the gold deposit within the city. He chuckled at the memory. So eager to acceptance of his offer with little regard for the how or why. Using his fine control of chaos energy, it had been child's play to detect the foreign, mechanical devices within them and literally pull them bodily from their hosts. Sure, they'd all screamed in pain from the ordeal, but the wounds would heal on their own in time. The fact remained however, they were now free. Free to do his whim. Buoyed by that thought, they quickly turned to their thoughts to the task before them. They all quickly realized that they'd have no chance against Swat-bots that responded to the break in. Which was precisely why Mammoth and told them to meet him in front of that brick wall with the crudely painted 'X' on it. With a wave his hand, the wall disintegrated, revealing the store room of a long since closed and blocked off weapons store. Free to grab all that they could carry to arm themselves, his lackey's quickly made their way to complete his task.

But the truth is, the gold is only a secondary concern here. At the very least it might serve as a distraction for the REAL purpose of the stranger's visit to this dingy city.

The CHAOS EMERALDS!

He allowed himself a moment to relish the thought of all that power flowing through him again. It had already been too long since he last tasted the alluring power. After all, he himself had been trapped within the Master Emerald for so long, there, but unable to harness it's power. With the dimensional merge, the shattering of the Master Emerald released him, but even the emerald he himself once possessed was shattered and scattered to the winds. It had taken him weeks, if not months since the disaster to fully grasp the situation and formulate a plan. It had be fortunate luck when he happened to be on Angel Island the day Robotnik's forces arrived and began to unearth the precious fragments.

And now, he would reclaim what was his.

Closing his eyes, the world seemed to swirl and shift. When he opened his eyes once more it seemed as though nothing had happened at all. But that was hardly the truth. Taking his first step, he walked casually out into the open in full view of any Swat-bot or security camera monitoring the area. But to the machines, the area around Mammoth was as empty as ever.

It didn't take long for him to clear the open space and arrive at one of the imposing steel doors. The Swat-bots stared dumbly ahead, oblivious to the intruder before them. A moment later, and the door swished open from inside as a pair of machines came out carrying out whatever task assigned to them.

He smiled and strolled through the open doors once the bots were gone. So close, he could sense the Chaos Emeralds were so close. He would follow his keen sense, right to the source and then, the world would know of the return of:

MAMMOTH MOGUL!!
[Do you want me to add anything, or are we waiting for the group of heroes to arrive?]
[Planned on eventually interacting with Robo till the heroes arrive. We still have other surprises to reveal after all. So yes, by all means post something. No fun just sneaking in. XD]
[Well, if Mammoth is invisible right now, it's going to be kind of hard to do any sort of interaction. But I'll see what I can do.]

Even if he was invisible, it would be difficult for Mammoth to mask the sound of his steps since he was so large. The ground would shake a little bit with every footfall.

As Mammoth Mogul passed by, one of the SWATbots turned its head slightly. Over the rumbling of a loading truck leaving through the open doors, the SWATbot thought it heard slightly muted footsteps. That was a little odd considering the truck had no on-foot escort. But since the SWATbot saw nothing but the truck, it assumed its audio interpreter was on the fritz. So the bot wirelessly transmitted a maintenance log to the support network. It quickly received a confirmation back that it would have a maintenance appointment at 6pm tonight.

Meanwhile, Mammoth would find himself standing inside a receiving terminal for trucks and freight. Loading bots, vehicles, and SWATbots rushed throughout the fluourescent-lit steel room with robotic precision and efficiency. So fortunately for Mammoth, the earth shaking a bit with each step wouldn't be much of a problem for him here. But that might change once he cleared the area.
[Mostly I wanted to have Mammoth and Robotnik himself eventually interacting. The sneaking part can be glossed over till he gets to the emeralds if that's alright?]

Undeterred by the sound of his own footsteps, or the suspicious looks from the various bots, Mogul pressed onward, driven by his one, singular goal. He could feel the power of the chaos emerald shards calling to him, growing ever stronger as he drew near. Once into the halls of the complex, he made sure to step aside of any bots obliviously walking towards him, but always he kept moving.

Before long, Mammoth could sense that he was close. So very close. Beyond perhaps the very next door. A locked door. Mammoth frowned at the impertinence of the door, denying him access to what is rightfully his!
[Yeah, let's do it. I don't think it'd be that entertaining to roleplay.]

Fortunately for Mammoth, the door slid open. And who should walk out but Dr. Robotnik himself, eating a cheeseburger. Along with the other twenty cheeseburgers he had in a giant bag in his other hand. He was too busy munching on his burger to look where he was going. Not that it mattered of course, because Mammoth had cloaked himself. The doctor crashed right into him, which caused Robotnik to drop his half eaten burger along with the bag of other burgers on the floor.

The doctor looked straight ahead...quite sure the space was in the hall in front of him was clear. But then he realized there was a ketchup stain hovering in midair from where he'd impacted the invisible mammoth. Now Robotnik was positively freaked out, as he backed away from the floating stain.

"A ghost?! In here?!"
The impact with Robotnik, while leaving Mogul momentarily surprised, barely registered so far as physically. Mammoth easily stood several feet taller than Robotnik and easily surpassed him in weight and girth. Though, Mammoth's girth largely did not consist of lard as the good doctor did.

He quickly realized who he'd bumped into, and swiftly changed his illusion. Now, instead of only machines being blind to Mammoth, organic eyes could no longer see him. In the brief moment before Robotnik's cry of a ghost, Mogul took the moment to inspect his counter-part. He of course he recognized the man lying flat on his over sized rump. He did however look a bit... different. To be expected of course given the merge. Yet infinitely fascinating. He wondered if somewhere out there, another version of himself was roaming the world, plotting its conquest. He couldn't help feel a rising sense of disgust as he noticed Robotnik's gluttonous apparel. This is the man that struck up terror all across whichever version of Mobius he came from?

Mammoth's musings however came to an abrupt end when Robotnik's declaration of a ghost caused him to inspect himself to ascertain where that wild accusation came from. Only to discover that Robotnik's clumsy accident had left a large ketchup stain on his suit that all but announced to the world his presence. He glared down at the offending stain on his fine silk suit. He prided himself on carrying himself as refined and sophisticated. Such a blemish to himself demanded swift and exact reprisal.

He momentarily entertained the idea of rolling with the bloated fool's first assumption and give him every reason to believe that there was in fact a ghost. But he dismissed such an idea as childish and beneath him. No. He would deal Robotnik a MUCH harsher blow.

"Hardly..." Mammoth's booming baritone bass voice stated from seemingly nowhere.

The illusion surrounding Mammoth Mogul dissolved, revealing a massive wooly mammoth standing in the doorway dressed in an impeccably well pressed suit. Impeccably, if not for the glaring red ketchup stain on the suit's waist.

"Amusing, is it not, ? That the man so deeply routed in science should immediately appeal to myths and folk-stories for the unexplained?" He added, taking a few steps inside to allow the doors to shut behind him. Reaching into his front pocket Mammoth procured a napkin and carefully whipped what he could off of the stain marring his suit.

"We've met, in some other zone or reality, but I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting you specifically. Allow me to introduce myself. I, am Mammoth Mogul."
Quote:"Hardly..."

"Ah!"

With surprising speed, the doctor scrambled to his feet. It was then that Mammoth Mogul himself popped into view, and then just casually let himself into the door that Robotnik had just opened. Like he owned the place. Beyond that door would be the lab where he was experimenting on the emerald shards.

The fright that Robotnik felt very quickly gave way to anger. How dare an intruder just stride straight into his top secret lab, brushing away a stain on his clothes like it was no big deal! Even if Robotnik himself was not physically adept in combat, he thought it a great insult that he should simply be brushed aside like that. So he charged into the lab after the mammoth as the he continued to speak.

Quote:"We've met, in some other zone or reality, but I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting you specifically. Allow me to introduce myself. I, am Mammoth Mogul."

"Allow me to introduce you to...SECURITY!"
On the last word, Robotnik had produced a small radio from his pocket and was now yelling into it.

Clomping noises could be heard in the hallway outside the door almost immediately. Within less than a minute, those security robots would be here.
The corners of a faint, smug grin appeared below Mammoth's trunk while his eyes began to glow. "My, my, Doctor. Is that fear I sense? Most unbecoming of a self-proclaimed dictator such as yourself." Mogul tsked like a parent scolding a rowdy child.

"I on the other hand fear nothing. Not even your little toy puppets."Turning back to the door, Mogul swung his cane back towards the door. It might have seemed like a strange thing to do, he was standing back much to far to be able to hit the door with it, if not for the band of chaotic green energy launched from the end of the cane like a giant, transparent coat of paint being thrown from a bucket. The blast of energy smashed into the door, bulging it out wards slightly. Not enough to blow the doors open, but enough to jam the sliding doors shut and destroy the doors control console from this side.[/b]
The doctor winced as the doors got slammed open. Whoever this guy was, he'd definitely made it known by now he was a threat. Even the most professional freedom fighters usually got caught at some point before making it this far into his inner sanctum. However, the doctor knew he still had a few other options. True, he'd sealed off the lab from security. But it was also the only way in or out, so Mammoth had trapped himself too.

Even as he thought about it, blaster fire could be heard impacting the metal door on the other side. Meanwhile, more clomping metal feet started to arrive on the other side. Since Robotnik figured it was only a matter of time, he was only too happy to engage in polite chitchat. Mr. Mogul sounded like he wanted to do it too.

"So...what is it that brings you to my humble abode Mr. Mogul? Are you a freedom fighter too? I must say I've never seen one so large or well-dressed before."

Rather than sit still in one spot as he spoke, he appeared to just allow himself to pace about in no particular direction as he spoke.

The doctor purposefully did not look at where he was keeping the shards in this room, so as not to tip off Mammoth to their location. They were the most valuable, irreplaceable things in this room after all.
