Robotnik's HQ.
The sheer size would be impressive if not for how gloomy and outright ugly the imposing steel edifice was. Compensation, mused the onlooker.
Standing back, within the shadows of the buildings opposite the huge building stood an imposing figure in of itself. A huge wooly mammoth, impeccably well dressed in a fine white suit and a slender, but sturdy cane. It mattered not how big or how well defended this place was. Nothing would stand in his way. Nothing would stop him from achieving his goal. He could practically feel his prize, muted even as it was within the mass of steel and concrete. They called to him. Begged to fill the gaping void in his chest.
All was in place. Right about now, the lackeys he'd recruited would be striking the gold deposit within the city. He chuckled at the memory. So eager to acceptance of his offer with little regard for the how or why. Using his fine control of chaos energy, it had been child's play to detect the foreign, mechanical devices within them and literally pull them bodily from their hosts. Sure, they'd all screamed in pain from the ordeal, but the wounds would heal on their own in time. The fact remained however, they were now free. Free to do his whim. Buoyed by that thought, they quickly turned to their thoughts to the task before them. They all quickly realized that they'd have no chance against Swat-bots that responded to the break in. Which was precisely why Mammoth and told them to meet him in front of that brick wall with the crudely painted 'X' on it. With a wave his hand, the wall disintegrated, revealing the store room of a long since closed and blocked off weapons store. Free to grab all that they could carry to arm themselves, his lackey's quickly made their way to complete his task.
But the truth is, the gold is only a secondary concern here. At the very least it might serve as a distraction for the REAL purpose of the stranger's visit to this dingy city.
The CHAOS EMERALDS!
He allowed himself a moment to relish the thought of all that power flowing through him again. It had already been too long since he last tasted the alluring power. After all, he himself had been trapped within the Master Emerald for so long, there, but unable to harness it's power. With the dimensional merge, the shattering of the Master Emerald released him, but even the emerald he himself once possessed was shattered and scattered to the winds. It had taken him weeks, if not months since the disaster to fully grasp the situation and formulate a plan. It had be fortunate luck when he happened to be on Angel Island the day Robotnik's forces arrived and began to unearth the precious fragments.
And now, he would reclaim what was his.
Closing his eyes, the world seemed to swirl and shift. When he opened his eyes once more it seemed as though nothing had happened at all. But that was hardly the truth. Taking his first step, he walked casually out into the open in full view of any Swat-bot or security camera monitoring the area. But to the machines, the area around Mammoth was as empty as ever.
It didn't take long for him to clear the open space and arrive at one of the imposing steel doors. The Swat-bots stared dumbly ahead, oblivious to the intruder before them. A moment later, and the door swished open from inside as a pair of machines came out carrying out whatever task assigned to them.
He smiled and strolled through the open doors once the bots were gone. So close, he could sense the Chaos Emeralds were so close. He would follow his keen sense, right to the source and then, the world would know of the return of:
MAMMOTH MOGUL!!
