Factions

Whilst the Sonic Universe is occupied with the fight of good against evil, there are still groups and organizations that fight for a various number of causes.

Freedom Fighters
This group of individuals work at trying to rid the planet of Robotnik and his minions. They lack the military power to face their enemies, like Robotnik, directly though and instead rely heavily on guerrilla warfare, stealth and their own wits to outsmart their opponents. Whilst mainly operating in small groups, sometimes completely isolated from other Freedom Fighters, they do have a central base of operations in the Village of Knothole deep in the Great Forest. This location is a closely guarded secret by all Freedom Fighters and is widely unknown to the general population of the planet.

Robotnik Empire
Robotnik's dream has started to take shape. Operating out of his enslaved city of Robotropolis, he aims to conquer the planet. Evil of other kinds are drawn to him, joining his plans in an attempt to better their own chances of reaching their own goals or sharing in the Doctor's final ambition. Their stronghold is the city of Robotropolis, formally Station Square, a city ruled with an iron fist and patrolled by robots where the inhabitants live in fear and darkness.

Council of Soleanna
This learned city was once the crowning jewel of its own world, full of life, music and culture. Since the dimensional shift, the inhabitants have come to realize the seriousness of their problem and employed their efforts into finding a solution. It is the only free city on the planet and protects its own with a strong will. They do not readily concern themselves with Robotnik's ambitions and instead have decided to worry about the survival of the planet itself.

The Thieves Guild
A collection of vagabonds, misfits and nobodies drawn together for one purpose... Survival. Whilst separate they pose no real threat, they do possess a keen ear for intelligence, a quick hand, and a swift mind. The Guild does not concern itself with anything, each and every member have their own agenda or goal and they rarely co-operate with each other. Some seek treasure, some seek information and some seek to undermine others. Whatever their individual goal, they are often considered a menace.

Faction Workings
Players are free to join any of these factions that they desire. There are no defined leaders to any faction as they are designed to be 'catch all' to encompass anyone pushing towards a common objective. Any faction member can initiate actions against another and anyone can join in, either working together or not. Players not in factions can also initiate their own actions or storylines; whoever you are, wherever you are, you are in control of what happens and should not feel that you are restricted in what you can or cannot do.

You can either start in a faction or you can join one at a later date in the RPG if you like. If you start in a faction, you should mention it in your character's bio. You are also free to leave a faction at any time or even join a totally different one. Equally, you may choose not to be associated with any of the factions at all. This is also perfectly acceptable.
